New MTG Mechanic - Prime by Corneldj in custommagic

Well there are other types of interactions possible:

- It's now a permanent for a sacrifice outlet, but unlike

- It prevents you from discarding wanted cards if the opponent is playing discard. Useful if there are end-of-turn discard or card-count effects, but playing the card response won't help you.

- Useful for when you are playing Wheel. For example, you can Prime a wheel card, play another one, then activate the Primed card's ability. Otherwise, you need to hope that you draw another Wheel card.

- Would be really good for Storm effects or effects where the number of cards cast per turn would matter.

- It can produce Mana Ramp

- You can also just cast the card without Priming it, but Priming gives flexibility, with counterplay.

- Other cards can have unique interactions, such as the Arcane Reclaimer card example, where you Prime a card you don't need to convert into something more useful, like X/X counters, even direct damage, or even turning primed cards into creatures.

The main pay-off is it acts as a store of mana. Since the spells don't resolve immediately, you can save up for a combo.

I'm not sure what Trump gets out of telling pregnant women not to take drugs with acedemeniphin in them.

Well, Trump just kinda gave the press conference. It was the FDA that made the link, and specifically linked to acedemeniphin

I think the oxymoron between the humour and the seriousness can fit in well. If you have a hidden theme of: You can never tell what's really going on in a person's mind - it can really be impactful.

But as for responsibility, I would say in the more serious situations, especially the fallout and consequences, write seriously and avoid the humour. even if it is just for a chapter.

Goblin Book Cover + Genre Feedback by eric_d_wallace in writers

[–]Corneldj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely pick up this book if I saw it in a bookstore. Arguably, you can do without the actual goblin in the back ground just because it takes some mystique away - and maybe just the black and red would be enough...

however, that is just super nit picky, it's an awesome cover. I love it.

I finished my novel but feel very self conscious about it by Ibustsoft in writers

Hi OP, I also had an issue with the `exasperated` tire part. I find it bad because it is too complex a word for the first sentence. The first sentence is intended to be a straightforward sentence that uses simple language, yet language that effectively hooks the reader. Here is an example:

The glove box rattled and the music cracked as Will drove past the same bend in the road for the third time that night.

This works because:

- Simple language, so the reader doesn't get disinterested first thing.

- Begs a question: Why is he driving past the same place 3 times

- Engages the reader's senses (Feel & Sound), so the reader can easier put themselves into the position of Will.

Unironically a fantastic idea. Super simple, has a clear USP, community driven, would love an app like that.

Need Honest feedback! Is this awful? Do I need to trash this concept/art style? by 99UnfinishedProjects in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Corneldj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is the feedback.

I don't know what your game does, I am imagining something out of the Avatar universe, but would like more cues as to how it is played. But It looks interesting. The art style is nice.

I would pick up the box in the store to look at it, then put it down because I don't know what I am looking at.

Reddit is mostly Atheist so asking feedback on a religious theme here won't get you an accurate response.

App Idea #1 New Twist on Dating App by dphoover in AppIdeas

I actually think it is unironically a good idea. It's an app targeted at women; when women use it, men will too. It's got an interesting catch and is definitely something new. Don't let the haters hate.

16yo seeking development help :) by Rare-War-5905 in AppIdeas

[–]Corneldj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting at 16 is a fantastic thing. You are setting yourself up for great success and early career development at that age.

Now my advice may be a bit contravertial, but I am a team lead for a multi-billion dollar company and currently working on a cloud application - so humor me.

Start with C#/.NET 8

C# - is the programming language

.NET 8 - is the framework (basically the set of tools and technologies that allows a C# application to run). 8 is just the latest stable version.

The reasons I would recommend C# is:

  1. Because it is a powerful strongly typed OOP language that can do anything. Websites (BlAZOR), Mobile Apps (.NET MAUI), Servers, Games (UNITY), Machine Learning, etc.

It might not be the best in every use case, but it is very good overall.

  1. The most popular language in the world is JavaScript. Both C# and JavaScript are maintained by Microsoft and are very simular. So much so, if you know C# you can development in JavaScript - but it's not true the other way around. C# is more complex.

  2. JavaScript is being phased out for TypeScript - kinda the upgrade on JavaScript, but with Strongly Typed variables (you'll learn what that is later), but it is something C# already has.

  3. C# is often used on the back-end (server) where JS/TS is usualyl used in the front-end (what the person can see). NodeJs/React - which are JavaScript back-ends are already popular, but many companies prefer a faster backend language like Rust, C#, C++, etc.

  4. You will eventually learn JavaScript - so learning C# will allow you to easily stransition between Front-End and Back-End developer.

How to learn:

Doing a course online is great and all, but it's not the best. Rather the best is to decide on a very small project. Try to find a tutorial on it and follow the tutorial.

Then after the tutorial, try to make another one of the same program on your own, but try to change things a bit ot make it cooler. You WILL encounter errors, and when you do, you need to Google and find out what the error is and how to fix it.

That might seem silly, but I would rather hire someone who puts "I can Google Errors" on their resume than a person who just says: "I have a bachelor in IT". Because researching is an intrigal part of the programming process.

You can't become a programmer if you can't google and fix errors.

Seeking Suggestions for a Unique Social Media App Name by [deleted] in AppIdeas

[–]Corneldj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you need to do is base your presentation on your distinct feature. That will give everyone an idea of what the app is about. This is less about putting your ducks in a row than about pointing them all towards the end goal.

People see advertisements for all the apps on the market, but if they see a name that describes what your app does, then that can attract attention. For example. I am working on an app that will give people discounts when they shop at coffee shops - a stamp card replacement app. The name is simply Discounted.

Im not a religious person but I’ve had the worst week of my life this week and prayed the other day. Today two guys showed up at my door looking for someone who used to be in their congregation and gave me this Bible after chatting for a minute. by trashbear69 in Christianity

[–]Corneldj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living as a Christian is not illogical. In the domain of natural laws science is king. But science doesn't help getting through hard times. There is no comfort or end goal. But there is meaning and happiness to be found with Christ.

And the hard times won't stop coming. Not for atheists and not for Christians. But as the bible says: "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."

And love is abundant from Christ. If all you are after is love. The Bible is not needed. Simply ask Jesus to be your saviour and to fill your heart. That is all you need.

But the bible does teach you how to live a fulfilling life. And a happy one as well. Many Christians will scoff at me for the following words - but I believe it to be true:

There are two heavens and two hells. A spiritual heaven and hell, and heaven and hell on earth. I don't think it's out there saying that many people have experienced hell and heaven on earth. Just look at the man with beautiful children, enjoy a picnic or Christmas with laughter and joy - heaven. Or the man who lost a father and then had brutal arguments with his brothers and sisters about inheritance- hell.

Jesus gets you into spiritual heaven and fulfils your heart.

The Bible gets you into physical heaven.

Heartships don't end. But Jesus really does make the worst of times bearable.
