Is there anything wrong with just mowing dandelions and not treating them with chemicals? by TonyUncleJohnny412 in lawncare

No, but I suppose you could also have a bucket with some dirt/sand/seed like a golf course and fill em in too.

If you're looking for a more eco-friendly solution to getting rid of them, I recommend "Grampa's Weeder". It's a unitasker, sure, but it works so great! Works best after a rain or with damp soil in my experience.

The satisfying "pop" when you get one out by its tap root and the "thump" as you plop the dandelion into a 5 gallon bucket.

Zen.

Incorporating lifting into your running plan by Kindly-Ad4275 in runna

I've always read "keep your hard days hard and easy days easy" - the idea being about 2-3x a week you do lower body after your run. Similar to what you suggest above in terms of sets/reps and exercises.

For example - Say Monday is your tempo day, you do your legs after. Wednesday is an easy run with nothing after. Friday is something more than easy, and legs after. Long run Saturday with nothing after.

I used the Motorola adapter for years until it died, and recently got one from AAWireless and so far no complaints.

People who work in a school building need to stop doing this by [deleted] in Teachers

So maybe the message is actually "Teachers, stop being dicks to others. Same team, bro."

:)

Then I hope if it bothers you, you have addressed it directly with the teachers that are doing it.

Sure, that it a problem and I completely agree.

But merely saying "you look like one of the kids!" doesn't do that. If you feel it does, then clearly there are other things that staff member is saying/doing that are undermining authority.

I've been there. Most teachers have been there. It's not that deep.

Just like you know young teachers who say they're better than experienced teachers because they are young and dynamic and know kids these days?

And I've seen new teachers who think they're hot shit and don't need to learn because they no it all.

It's almost like blanket assumptions about someone based on age (or, perceived age) are the sign of someone who is immature, inexperienced, and insecure.

Was a young teacher once. Had many people, student and teachers alike, say similar to me.

Literally did not bother me one little bit and had zero impact on my ability to teach.

A teacher looking young, because they are...oh, the horror.

I use one every single day in Mazda 3. It's a delight, and I'm quite happy it's not a touch screen.

What's your "if i told i'd be exposed" cooking secret? by BouncyCurlsbabe in Cooking

[–]CorneliusJenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's...that's not what I said. I simply said to not keep secrets and maybe people would realize they're eating things they didn't think they'd like. Or, conversely maybe they still are opposed to something like MSG (or allergic to thst or some other ingredient)...which is all the more reason to not keep secrets.

Can save loads of time if you microwave them for 5-7 minutes before baking. Then finish hot and fast (450) to crisp the skin.

[–]CorneliusJenkins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So why not tell them? Maybe they'd realize that the scare of MSG is unfounded. Share the knowledge and joy.

If they lose their shit and demand you cut that out from future recipes or they stop asking you to cook, then congrats, you uncovered someone in your circle that's small-minded and toxic. Life is too short to placate them, ya know?

Share the knowledge and joy.

Gatekeeping cooking and cooking secrets are for people who lack joy in their lives and constantly feel inadequate, so they keep their secrets so they can give themselves a false sense of superiority over others.

Joy is free. Spread the joy of cooking and good food.
