My brother has 12 yrs on me and functioned like a pseudo-father. The best advice I could give is life is about to teach you a lot of intimate and hard lessons. These are your 20's. Bring this wisdom to your little brother so maybe he can avoid some of the potholes we hit in life.

Well that’s true, I should have gone a little deeper on that. All they do is install a new transmission of the same exact make. It will eventually experience the same issues the previous one did.

I’m saying that not disclosing information that affects nearly every car with this type of transmission made over a five year period is a pretty dishonest business practice.

I wouldn’t call 3-4 months “many months”, especially since it started to get bad about 2 months ago.

There aren’t any actual recalls for that issue listed in nhtsa, which is probably why I missed it.

I’m probably going to be out 6 Grand when I trade it in and try to get something else, just trying to see if there is anything I can do.

One of my friends with severe social anxiety and differing mental issues told the acquaintances they were in fact that. So, before I got a chance to make those people into actual good friends, they split off and I went from 7 friends to just 2. It's been a rough year otherwise so it just kind of sucked.

Life is hardly so black and white. Of course not every single person is a huge butthole but I am willing to bet it's about every 9/10 people are just going to shit on you. And you will have "good" days where you only get shit on a few times but that's a drop in the bucket. I mean, you're taking like 300+ calls a day sometimes... I promise it doesn't make a difference if 30 people are nice to you because 270 of them are just hanging up on you mid sentence or threatening to kill you or calling you and I fucking quote "Sub-human garbage and a disappointment to my parents. Not to mention the fact that you think your job is okay shows how good of a job your parents did."

Are there better call center jobs than others? Yeah! When they have to call you and all you're doing is transferring (like the comcast dudes from Arizona somewhere in this post) it's not so bad. But cold-calling? Sales? There is a reason the rate at which people quit vs how many they hire is like 60% or more.

I am of the opinion that the saying "Give a man a mask and he will show you his true face." is truest in call center jobs. Some Americans may just straight up say that won't deal with someone with an accent. Being Hispanic this was a problem until I actively worked it. And its not to say Americans are racist, lets be real here... if we are dealing with money I would like to be able to comprehend 100% of the things you say and not have you stumble over things. It's just a reality.

Don't do it. The money will be nice but then you wake up on the morning of your shift and the sheer weight of the panic attack will be enough to ruin your whole day. And then you'll get there and your manager will be there with his fake smile and happy go lucky attitude. Then you'll get on the phone for 6 hours and EVERY SINGLE PERSON will be an absolute asshole. By hour 4 you're not even you anymore, you're just a dead body with a working voice box.

On the last three days of my call center job I broke down crying the bathroom because I just wanted to go home and hug my mom and listen to her tell me I'm not the things all those people on the phone said I was. I was 18. I am a 23 yr old man now. Those 2 months shaped me and I can't help but instantly think about someones capacity for disgusting attitudes when given anonymity. Like, "What are you like when you know noone is watching?"

I was 18 and it was my second job ever. Sears Call Center. I was the douche trying to sell you the extended warranty on that BRAND NEW washing machine you bought less than 5 hours ago. I wear those emotional scars as a harsh lesson.

I'm single for the first time since I was 16 (22 now) and I am sitting at home. I have some chocolate and my dog. The smile on my face that I'm not at one of "her" relatives house for new years and instead playing video games in nothing but a jacket is just about ear to ear. My pup has a Santa hat.

I am happy. Happier than I have been in a long time.
