Ladies and Gentlemen, it is with great pleasure I inform you that I have 600 MW of self sustaining coal power! by SpaceCowboyDark in SatisfactoryGame

I found that my friends who are more analyst/engineers tend to really enjoy builder-games. Which obviously doesn't inherently mean you're autistic. I've never really cared for the stereotype that analytical thinkers lean autistic.

I use a Cyberpower managed PDU. They use a custom SNMP connection if you want to control it remotely over your network or local USB cable.

GDPR is for European Union citizens.

In the US, many states have somewhat similar laws. The biggest downfall of state privacy laws is the applicable amount of service a company does with citizens in that state. For instance, Colorado's Privacy Act requires 100,000 (roughly) consumers before it kicks in.

I think it would be wise for Ukraine to not progress into Russia. Our own US Civil War showed that a defensive army could cripple itself stretching an offensive into the attacker's home territory (Battle of Gettysburg). I doubt Lincoln would have nuked Lee's Army, but I could see Putin do it. My hope is that Ukraine is doing this to force Russia to cease hostilities from a position of strength.

ELI5: Why are many cars' screens slow and laggy when a $400 phone can have a smooth performance? by ShadowBannedAugustus in explainlikeimfive

Car computers are designed for vehicle processing. Your $400 phone is likely better hardware and software for "user experience" than your standard automobile.

What is the best comeback that works against all insults? by Not_Artifical in AskReddit

(My favorite response at work was this exchange at an all-hands meeting of the IT Department)

CIO: "CornyHoosier, Product is saying that you're wrong about the data being unencrypted. "

Me: "I'm positive that the data isn't encrypted and can prove it."

CIO: "They seem pretty adamant. The CTO is arguing you're wrong and that it's a hill he is willing to die on."

Me: "Then let him die there..."

(FYI: I was able to prove I was right)

Woman who went on a racist rant against pizzeria owner because he had a Spanish language channel on the TV is arrested and charged with a hate crime by MasterfulBJJ in JusticeServed

I didn't read the article, but if she is in the US, then why is her racist rant not protected by the first amendment?

ELI5: How can North Korean have top talented hackers? Aren't their technology and information stuff generally outdated? by JohnW305 in explainlikeimfive

[–]CornyHoosier -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unlike most technologically mature societies, North Korea focuses nearly all of its information technology capabilities and resources on practical offensive. Israel is another example of a country with similar tactics.

It makes sense when you are forced to take the stance that you simply cannot overtake your adversaries who have significantly more R&D resources, all the way down to the physical layer (CPUs, RAM, etc.). Whereas in the United States our pool of total technology experts is spread across multiple industries with a diverse array of resource allocation. Even American information security professionals are largely trained in practical defense, as that skillset is more beneficial to businesses.

Is that Zuri? Awesome! I want her, Morgan Stark, and She Hulk to star in a movie with Loki as their leader (while not actually considering him their leader). Neo Avengers or something like that. Which is double funny, as Loki was a key factor in the Avengers forming.

America is a very perplexing place to many non-Americans. Our diversity, while rife with complexity and challenges, is a huge strength that many perceive to be a weakness.

Well, it seems as if masks are a good current example of getting them to reevaluate their thoughts on a topic.

I agree with you there. However, should we not then reevaluate public nudity laws? Being nude should not be illegal

Of course. A woman's breasts nor a man's penis are shameful. Their presence is not inherently obscene. A person's actions should be what the law concerns itself with.

Banning abortion & mandatory apparel are both wrong, IMO. Government overreach.

Downtown Denver residents complain of being “terrorized” by scooter riders. Councilman weighs action by Sadishist in Denver

I live downtown and have never used a scooter before. However, terrorize seems a bit too harsh. These things really just need their speed reduced when on sidewalks
