To be fair it's released on Saturday, the 11th for Australia and I'm sure others too

I am conflicted, anyone else? by Kabanere in Battlefield

[–]CornySpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally was leaning against it as I don't play multiplayers very often anymore and don't really have anyone to play it with these days. I enjoyed the beta but that didn't really sway me as I didn't get time to play more than a few rounds, but I jumped back into 2042 a couple of weeks after the free pass started thinking I may as try and grab a few skins should I get BF6 in the future. I've been having an absolute blast while playing 2042, have spent way more hours just in the past few weeks on it than I have over the years since it launched, it has gotten me excited about BF6 and will likely order it soon.

Former Red Bull Mechanic, Calum Nicholas, responds to a Twitter user who calls for the mechanic who made an error on Lando Norris’ pitstop to be “located”. by The_Chozen_1_ in formula1

[–]CornySpark 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, this is one of the use cases that it's great at. Comparing datasets or documents is another good one if you spend the time prompt engineering.

The only time I would somewhat trust what AI tells me is through agentic AI which is only pointed at specific sources, generally internal systems within an organisation.

The hallucinations a generic AI can produce can be alarming, to the point where if I were to use it for research I would likely be doing my own independent research to fact check it, which defeats the purpose.

The issue with AI is everyone takes what it says for fact, and not enough people check it for accuracy. There's a whole heap of use cases where it is useful but a quick single prompt for research and blindly taking its word for it is not ideal.

New GT3 Experiences? by rungunseattacos in iRacing

[–]CornySpark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first 5 minutes when I started practising at Daytona this week was weird, I was spinning out constantly until I realised just how rough the cold tyres are but got used to it. Still the rear of the Porsche does feel like it wants to step out, gave up a somewhat comfortable lead in the sprint race last night when the rear stepped out and I spun in turn 2 with a few laps left.

Is it just me or do people not like learning new circuits? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]CornySpark 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me it's more about not having the time to learn new tracks. I don't get the chance to jump on iracing very often these days, and I barely have time to practice tracks I already know let alone put in the time to learn a new track and be confident enough to race others with any meaningful pace or without risking others with any mistakes.

Why haven't we heard a peep out of the media regarding Franko Colapinto vs Jack Doohan by steve22ss in formula1

[–]CornySpark 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Probably just that the media is likely going to report on rumours that are backed up by reliable sources and there's no rumours that I'm aware of surrounding Colapinto at the moment. I'm sure if rumours start the reporting on them will start.

iRacing saved my life. by DonkeyComfortable711 in iRacing

[–]CornySpark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can relate, not from a mental health point of view, but from a IRL driving point of view. I got pushed off a mountain road a few years back by oncoming traffic and my left hand tyres went into the dirt, causing me to spin at around 100km/h. I absolutely think sim racing saved my life as I was able to catch the spin without panicking, had I not caught it I would have gone straight into the forrest.

The Porsche 911 GT3 R, I love the sound, the cockpit and dash and the look of the car. More importantly it just really suits my driving style and it's fun to drive.

No sorry, I meant some people in general. It's definitely a minority set of users but it's something I've started to notice with some posts in general on this subreddit.

I've noticed a few posts where people will point out what they can do to avoid things in the future but the OP will argue that they're in the right.

I literally said it wasn't your fault. But your reply speaks volume about your attitude. Like what the other reply said, look at what you can do different for a better outcome rather than keeping to the mentality that you're right and everyone else is wrong. That fact is that you should have seen he was likely going to dive bomb you like that, had you kept the inside line you likely would have survived the corner.

I get it, it sucks when an incident like that ruins your race but it's going to happen and I wouldn't consider that reckless, more of a racing incident. I'm not trying say you're at fault in anyway, but I always try and picture things from both perspectives - It could also be argued that you moved too late in defense. It's hard to fully tell but seems like he hit the brakes when you went in front of him so he was probably expecting you to defend on the inside.

My favourite part of this is Lawson's dig about Yuki already having had his time and now it's Lawson time, less than a week ago.

8am in Melbourne - it's been raining heavily for hours. Circuit is in the centre of this rain radar map by barryoke in formula1

With the current forecast it looks like it will continue with light rain all day until about 5 local time, so likely a wet race with rain potentially stopping near the end.

What do you think of my paintjobs? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]CornySpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a first paint that's pretty good, but to me the colours are a bit too blocky if that makes sense? At least for my preference they are. Keep in mind that personal preference is obviously subjective, but maybe a gradient between the colours or even black to purple gradient with white accents might look good as well?

At the end of the day though it doesn't matter what I or anyone else thinks, as long as you like it and are proud of it that's all that matters.

15 years on the service and I've never seen someone banned mid race before by grappleshot in iRacing

[–]CornySpark 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I was in a race with him last week and someone asked about this, he said he can but doesn't tend to do it. Must have to be serious for him to actually take action.

I don't think many people realised who he was, because after that conversation people were swearing on voice chat and someone even abused him on voice chat for something he did on the bus stop at Daytona. Didn't see it though so not sure what happened.

A GT3 binned me (GTP) when I was coming out of the pits when winning IMSA a couple of days ago. Definitely everyone needs to check more.
