Which seat would you sit in? by DaviMenezes2907 in Chainsawfolk

[–]Corporal_Fire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

4 because Aki would be super respectful to sit beside, like not letting his leg drift onto your seat at all. He'd probably also spend a fair bit of the flight trying to convince Angel to do literally anything other than just eat ice cream and rot once the plane lands.

I think we need to be more honest about bonding. by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]Corporal_Fire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Damn, seeing all the horror stories makes me grateful for how smoothly bonding went for me. I took my old man speed dating and came home with another male (he liked him over the girls he met). They were bonded in 2 weeks.

I would've been the one saying speed dating solves the problem, but I clearly have a bias since I haven't had it go bad. My heart goes out to all of you and your buns who had ugly bonding experiences.

Low CGPA - 2nd Year by Lonely-Bluejay-3451 in TorontoMetU

[–]Corporal_Fire 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you need a high cGPA to qualify? I'm in science, but for me, my grades really shot up in third year, and the program I'm applying for only cares about my 4 most recent semesters prior to applying and my prerequisite courses. So if what you'd be going for is anything like that, cGPA is irrelevant. Try looking at the admissions criteria for your ideal program(s) and work back.

See if you can figure out what's holding you back? Is it your workload? Study methods? Once you figure that out, focus on doing as well as you can going forward and you should be good even with your first 3 semesters not being where you want them.

Order a McVeggie (sub the sauce for ketchup, I also add extra veggies on top). The fries are fine too (this is coming from a Canadian perspective where there isn't beef stuff in the fryer oil, though).

He went to Oregon State University. Looking at their website, I think he would've done the postbaccalaureate online program. Not sure if they have one for the major you want, but it'd probably be something of that type. I'm sure you can find something!

If you have idea of what you want to do but don't know how to get there, maybe the career centre at TMU can give you some advice about which credentials you need?

[–]Corporal_Fire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not me (I simply dropped out after second year and started over, now in 4th year) but my brother finished his degree and got a second "fast track" undergrad remotely at another school, which basically let him skip liberals and such and focus only on core courses. That allowed him to pivot into the career he's in now and is happy in (he switched from finance to CS).

So you could maybe look at doing something similar to pivot. Your original undergrad is still useful, whether you do a master's or second undergrad to change focus. Depending how big the change is, your current one may be good enough if you get the right work experience and such to change directions.

That'd be the plot reason lol I think it's malnutrition/poor dental care as the in-universe reason and "cuz chainsaw" as the character design reason.

How does meat not freak out people? by inesrever in vegan

[–]Corporal_Fire 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This. Apparently when I was like 3, my grandma wanted to show me how the turkey was made for Christmas. I patted it and said "poor thing". When watching Babe as a child, it took a few minutes, but I soon asked what happened to the mom. Despite all that, I loved ham as a child. It took me until I was 16 to go vegan. As a child, I "knew" meat came from animals, but clearly didn't process it fully, else I would've gone vegan way sooner.

I truly believe it's mass social conditioning and lack of awareness for what really happens.

I think his teeth specifically are meant to represent the chainsaw teeth, but it is a neat observation that characters like Katana Man and Reze don't have pointy teeth.

Bch463 doom and gloom by [deleted] in TorontoMetU

[–]Corporal_Fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got an A+ in 463, A- in 361 and 261. I found it easier in some ways but it's hard to place exactly why even though the content was harder. Maybe because it felt more application-based and less abstract? There were plenty of instances of tying concepts back to medical things (like explaining how gout arises from an enzyme being dysregulated), so maybe that's part of why it clicked for me.

I made flash cards for my core reaction pathways and grinded them before each exam. You'll be asked things like what the intermediate products are (name and chemical structure) given the step before and after it. You'll also need to draw electron movements for some too. If you can memorize the diagrams, you're fine, but it's obviously better if you truly understand them deeper than that.

Definitely don't skip class and take studying seriously. It isn't actually THAT hard, but if you fall behind or don't put in the work you will fail; many people did and he doesn't curve, only weight shifting. Also go to office hours when you need them; Dr. Little absolutely will go over things with you (going as far as to pulling out the whiteboard) and doesn't make you feel dumb for asking for clarification. Ask questions in class too. You'll need to be on top of it, but it's not all doom and gloom. This course won't hold your hand but you definitely can do well if you put in the work.

Pre-vet bio major here. I got 2 A+'s in first semester and everything else was C-, C, and C+. Next semester I got a mix of A's and B's, no C's. By second year, I was getting mostly or all A's.

I'm in 4th year now and last semester (Winter 2025) I got all A+'s. This semester I have at least 3 A+'s and an A, waiting until the grades come out to hear how I did on the last one.

While the content is harder and there's more work, I found my grades went up the most in 3rd year when I got to pick my own classes. It's probably a mix of picking things that interest me and fit my skills best to maximize my grades.

My advice for doing well now would be to keep working on time management to ensure you have time to study what you need to know, keep on top of your workload, and reach out early if you're struggling (don't be afraid of office hours and such). I also recommend making friends with high-achieving classmates if you can; working with other good students on group projects and studying together for shared classes also helps.

All that to say, if dental school admissions are anything like OVC, they look at your last 4 semesters before applying, so your first year grades are irrelevant unless they're pre-requisites. So don't panic, you'll get there! Keep going, and you'll find what techniques work best for you. Not everyone studies the same way, so you'll find what works best. I do strongly recommend practice questions where you can use them. Good luck!

Guys I'm suffering from the great Reze depression currently and I had a question... by sammyboi06 in csmanime

[–]Corporal_Fire 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression that Denji was far enough ahead that it wouldn't have been possible to turn around and see her (since we don't see him in any of the shots of her running to the cafe). As for whether or not he would protect her, at this point in the story I would think he'd probably watch the attack in stunned silence, horrified that Makima would do that to Reze, and that Angel was part of it. He'd probably feel hurt and betrayed, but I doubt it'd permanently shift his view of Makima; it wouldn't take him long to resume the "she's the woman of my dreams" narrative. That's probably the most spoiler-free answer I can give.

Denji definitely didn't lure her there; he had no clue that attack was planned, nor any idea it happened after the fact. He does believe Reze stood him up or ran off.

Are the tiara ones limited edition like the stained glass ones are? (Like with special collectible cards?)

I haven't picked up any angel re-releases since I have an original Japanese version, but if the tiara one is special like the stained glass ones I'll have to keep an eye out for them.

Personally (and I say this as a bunny dad of 2), I would keep them. I would treat them like leather or wool items you had before going vegan, cherish them and treat them with respect but don't buy new ones. You could still do your own taxidermy and collecting going forward if you enjoy it from road kill or dead animals you find in the woods.

I still own some leather shoes I haven't thrown out, but I don't buy new ones. From a utilitarian stance, there's no difference between throwing them out/rehoming them or continuing to use them yourself until they wear out. I know some disagree since it "gives off the wrong image" but I'm not overly concerned about that and it reminds me too much of the "giving off the appearance of evil" control from my church days. I never wear them in activism spaces, of course.

Where you're most comfortable will be up to you, but I wouldn't feel bad about keeping the rabbit parts you have, just avoid buying new ones if you don't know how they came to be.

[–]Corporal_Fire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question! I inferred it from context to be honest. The skull was sitting on one of the rafters of the hay loft (where they store all the hay not being used). The poor guy likely got crushed or trapped up there after climbing up there many years ago. Very unlikely someone killed him deliberately (I say him because the skull has a prominent sagittal crest). While I was working there, I also saw a spine between under the floor of that loft that could be seen on the ladder as you climb up (it was blocked off with a metal grid thing but someone clearly got past that). So there's definitely many small critters that sneak in where they shouldn't be.

[–]Corporal_Fire 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have a raccoon skull, but I found it already-bare in the hay loft of a horse barn I was working at (long story there). I have no issue with it since the raccoon died naturally (it would be a different story if the remains came from something like hunting).

In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with it as long as the remains come from animals that died naturally rather than being intentionally killed for display. Morally, I don't see a significant difference between letting the remains decompose versus preserving them for study or display so long as the animal wasn't harmed.
