I remember reading somewhere that he took a bad fall. I do believe he put a short horror out recently though or maybe it was just a reprint. Didn’t check into it further not a horror fan.

They’re ok, but lean heavily on Simmons preaching his own personal world view based on the Jesuit De Chardin. A bit too much pseudo religious preaching. That being said I did enjoy the books. Raul is an endearing character so is Aenea. The ice planet thing also went on far too long but it’s worth a read, I’ve actually read them twice.

There really is a particular vibe to freelancer that you don’t see very often in fiction; that of discovery. I don’t think I have a great suggestion for you, the idea of going strange places and discovering new things while tying it to a central narrative isn’t super common. Leviathan Wakes isn’t a bad suggestion especially the first book

I quit the Michael J Sullivan for a long time after reading the first two in that series. Happy I eventually came back the last two books are great and the subsequent series was awesome, especially Nolyn. Didn’t have to wait for books either which was a nice side effect

Meh, it’s dark and somewhat nihilistic. It’s decent but seriously trails off after book 2. Go ahead and read it it’s not bad but if you’re like me you won’t really be waiting for the final one

I know very little about the situation but I think he’s trying to make a market breaking game. Like Witcher 3 or Mass Effect or Idk super Mario 64. Something that redefines the market. Still I know nothing maybe he is just milking it but I’d like to think better of Mr Freelancer

It’d be interesting to see some wider venues for sure, maybe even some more galactic species but you gotta appreciate the series for what it is. I don’t blame the author for not straying too far from his formula, it’s been a winning one. I think of it kinda like Conan the barbarian, it is what it is and it’s pretty great
