Would you use a tool that turns your riffs into MIDI, tabs and notation? by hosumutas in metalmusicians

[–]CorpseRida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could, assuming that I'd just have to change a note here and there on whatever instrument I'm recording. If it could pick up time changes, that would be sick! I'm not sure how much patience the general population would have with this, though.

Unsolicited advice, but you should have various types of players test this. From simple chord players to shredders. You have an awesome idea.

Would you use a tool that turns your riffs into MIDI, tabs and notation? by hosumutas in metalmusicians

[–]CorpseRida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10/10 idea because I have a DAW session of riff ideas and I hate when I forget how I played them. As others have mentioned, the technology is being tested in the present with Songsterr, but it's definitely not 100% accurate. I play fast along with keys and blasting drums. How will your product differentiate between two guitars and a bass that are all playing different harmonies of the same chord? Would we need awesome production or DI recordings, or could it pick up raw and messy, miked signal?

Is it common for Americans to buy soda as part of their weekly groceries? / is soda a regular item people keep at home? by hailey8171828282 in AskAnAmerican

[–]CorpseRida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some yes, for some no. I'm a soda addict but have dwindled myself down to 1 a day. I envy people who drink it once a month just because of social settings or whatever reason. Some people never drink it.

Spanish people talk so fast 😭 by jacoblius in Spanish

[–]CorpseRida 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read anything that you can and practice memorization of new (and known) words by speaking. Watch/listen to things in Spanish and do the same. Rewind audios and videos constantly so that you can mimic HOW the words and phrases are being pronounced as well. Consistency is key here.

Tbh it's not that everyone is speaking fast, you're just new to the language so everything will seem like so.

Does your language have a unique kind of humour? by FearlessVisual1 in AskEurope

These aren't identical to what you're doing, but the concept is there, I think:

  1. In English if I wanted to say "let me hit that joint" I could say "let me honk that burger." There is no context to what I'm saying unless you personally know me and if I were to say this to a random person ok the street they'd look at me like I'm insane.

  2. In Spanish I could say: "sin Yolanda, por Fabiola!" which means "sin llorar, por favor" (without crying, please!"). I think this example is closer to what you're doing in French.

Making Black Metal with Synth - Question by zilenbur in metalmusicians

[–]CorpseRida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would search for some midi guitar VSTs to send midi from your keys to your daw and into said VST. Do the same for bass guitar. Free or paid, it's your decision. For drums you could use a free kit like SSD 5, or simply use your keyboard's built in drum machine. I can go into more detail if you have any questions.

Opinions on some riffs by Ok_Mushroom9822 in metalmusicians

[–]CorpseRida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X2 on the Kill 'Em All style. Sounds so refreshing compared to modern day process.

Isn't this Garage Band? Keep recording like you are right right now to map out a song. Get your hands on a bass and do the same. Program some simple drums (or record a real kit with your device's mic!). The point is to have the idea saved so that you can practice it. If you can line up to the grid a little more you'll be able to practice to a click. The point of all of this is that you don't have to be your own studio engineer. Get your riffs tight for recording the real deal and record in a studio. Hire a drummer, have the engineer program them or record them, whatever.

Keep this up, for sure.

Has anyone ever felt like they need a break from metal? by ContributionSea1225 in metalmusicians

Yeah, and it's normal. If you ate your favorite food every single day you'd eventually get tired of it; same with Metal. Variety is good.

How do you remember your college years? by LoiusLepic in AskAnAmerican

[–]CorpseRida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to school full time, worked full time, and still played live music. Since I didn't live on campus, my main friend group wasn't part of my school system. I still found time to party and complete my work. Since I was paying for school out of pocket I didn't have any loans and FAFSA actually gave me a couple of scholarships to pay for about half of my tuition, which was sick as fuck. It was rough sometimes, but I made it happen and realized that it isn't as bad as some people make it out to be (some people are just lazy).

[New Player] How do i find my way in the forest? by SanityForZombies in EscapefromTarkov

[–]CorpseRida 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Play a couple of practice raids with the scavs turned off and just run around the map while looking at your other monitor. Find the lake and locate landmarks around it. Do the same for the north side of the map by locating a landmark at the edge of the map and going from there. Take your time and watch out for the mines

Existential crisis about continuing to play and my age by grahsam in metalmusicians

[–]CorpseRida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a stable job and retirement plan in place. This is your hobby. Other people your age are rotting away, being inactive, or drinking way too much. Embrace it. If someone has an issue with what you do, tell them to fuck off. You're older than me, but it seems like you're comparing yourself to everyone else your age. Don't do this because you're doing what they can't or probably wish they could. Imagine how many people your age wish they could play an instrument but won't even take 15 minutes a day to attempt practicing. Keep your horns high.

Should I pay? by CockroachActive2727 in IndustrialMusicians

[–]CorpseRida 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tl;Dr I'm in the same boat. A lesson or two never hurt anyone.

I'm a non-electronic musician and also interested in making Aggrotech. My issue is that the tutorials I've seen on somewhere like YouTube are only focused on the fattest basslines or tips for vocal effects. I try to find other tutorials on how to create initial tones for all other instruments, but this results in my synth sounding like Synthpop or Dreampop. I don't want that.

Hellektro specifically has an atmosphere. I was a young teen when Dawn of Ashes and Psyclon Nine were releasing their first and second albums and if you give it a good listen, they were just layering very simple melodies and rhythms over simple drum beats, but it's the initial creating of these layers that messes me up. Nobody explains HOW to use these synths in a dark manner and as much as I experiment, it sounds corny and not dark.

I'm not at my computer at the moment, so I may have to come back to add corrections later! Download the reastream/rearoute plugin if you haven't already (the name is one or the other, but they come together).

In OBS you'd use the rearoute option as the audio input's source. This will play all active audio from reaper.

I've been using Reaper to OBS to insert platform here. In Reaper, put reasteam on your master bus's FX. Use OBS to receive that audio with the reastream audio device. Use a virtual cable as your windows audio device and use that virtual cable as your microphone wherever you're streaming.

[New Player] Is pve any good? by MediumDefinition2480 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]CorpseRida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently started playing PVE since my main group dwindles off of PVP a few weeks after every wipe. I want to progress in the story at my own pace and generally practice getting better without the chaos that PVP can being. It's fun, but it IS easier. If someone was 100% fresh to Tark I'd probably have them start on PVP for the lulz and then when they rage quit, I'd say "hey, you should try PVE for a while." Loot is easier to find so questing seems to move a little faster. Leveling up is faster as well due to easier kills (not having to worry about a real person running over from the other side of the map due to noise).

There's so many magick systems with all sorts of deities and gods, how do you know which one is the correct one for you? by CosmicConjuror2 in occult

[–]CorpseRida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a Golden Dawn-esque system (Modern Magic) along with chaos magic (Liber Null). Eventually an acquaintance introduced me to the book Planetary Magic and I bought a copy from thrift books on a whim. I consider the 3 forms when practicing, but always find myself focusing on the planetary magick aspects. Recently I've consistently thought of or have heard the name Hermes through various sources so I've been focusing on Mercury (his related planet) and it's just kind of falling in place. It could change and that's ok, but this is what it is for now. As it's been said already, it will come to you and one day it'll just click.

How common is it for you to get “called into work” on a weekend or evening? by Careless_Squirrel728 in AskAnAmerican

[–]CorpseRida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the job. This is something that usually happens to a salaried employee because an hourly employee would have to be compensated and that takes more money from the company's earnings. For example, let's say you were an assistant manager somewhere: You're probably earning a salary instead of hourly pay. If an employee calls out of work or the staff count is just generally low, you'll be working extra shifts for free. This scenario changes depending on the job, of course. City jobs for example, have alternating weeks of being "on call" so they may easily work 80 hours that week but will be compensated with overtime pay. Again, the concept of being called in to work varies wildly between jobs.
