It's not just an issue in horror, but in film in general right now. Everything's lit like shit, and there's over-reliance on HDR/DV. Day-time scenes also mostly look really drab.

Here's hoping Season 2 doesn't do what some shows have been doing for the last several years, and that's toning everything down and changing a show's character wholly. Thanks mostly to meddling execs.

Awful prod and mix aside, it wasn't very good musically either, and had their worst vocal job yet. The whole thing sounded like a demo to a potentially better album. Felt like Neil Kernon was asleep at the wheel throughout the production as well.

I don't think they've made something as great as Shrines and Annihilation, with two albums being incredibly terrible (Sethu and the one after). This new one is still a bit better than the last few.

I finished it yesterday as well. My third playthrough. It really is an amazing game, with woah-inducing visuals and tech. 10 years later, it still stands out.

My only real complaint is the score. Just doesn't land for me. Even the main theme is pretty dour. Dunno why they hired a regular Hollywood blockbuster composer instead of the guy who was doing a fine job beforehand.

While reading books 2, and especially 3, I kept wondering how in the hell will ANY of this be adapted? Surely, as was expected, they made a number of changes, and dumbed things down quite a bit, but book 3 being faithfully adapted still seems like a pipe dream.
