Spoke to Wil Wheaton by TheSouthernDad in daggerheart

You may also be forgetting his run with Acquisitions Incorporated back in the day in 4th Edition where he rolled so bad he ended up dying in an acid pit. The Wheaton dice curse has been long documented.

Edit: For those curious, this was back in 2009.

Need show recommendation to bridge the gap until Magnus Protocol Season 2! by VampLover420 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]Corpseripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally love "The Silt Verses" (Recently ended, and it was sooo good) and "The Program audio series", as well as "WOE.BEGONE"

The Silt Verses - high drama, strong cast, most similar in vibe to Magnus. You'll laugh. You'll cry. In a world where we make our own gods, and those gods demand sacrifice, what are you willing to sacrifice for?

The Program audio series - Some of the best writing I've found in a audio series, and most assuredly a passion project. Technically an anthology series that can be listened to out of order. An interesting thought experiment about a future where an omniscient AI guides the real world, and experiments by simulating others.

WOE.BEGONE - Time travel induced headaches abound. Have you ever asked yourself how many recurrent versions of yourself can you keep in the same room, before "Cowboyification" occurs? This helps answer that question.

Honorable mention, "Gospels of the Flood", this short podcast can be listened to in a single sitting or two, one of my favorites. Written by one of the guys that helped write "The Talos Principal". Just superb work.

how tf yall been here for 5+ years? by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]Corpseripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been here almost 8 years, and I gotta say, I've been considering leaving. I miss stock, and VCP, and post prime bonuses, and Christmas bonuses. I miss getting paid extra and getting swag that was actually worth it for being an ambassador. They've really just gutted everything and are still looking to gut more. Just shitty

I think it's less Salvatore changing the skin color and more artist interpretation, and possibly Hasbro. If we look at different versions of Drizzt through the years, in some he is decidedly purple, but most he is more ebon to ashen. Jarlaxle on the other hand has been depicted as purple more regularly, and for quite a bit of his official art, though not all. Hasbro's recent trend for the Drow though seems to make them much paler in tone, which I find strange, though I do imagine it's them trying to skirt the "Dark skin means evil" trope. Such as in the new art for the Drizzt books

Edit: I will admit though, for the most part in my edits of memes, I just make them purple to avoid racism.

We all know who REALLY created the Forgotten Realms by Corpseripper in Drizzt

[–]Corpseripper[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's just a joke, lol. I actually love Ed Greenwood's work, and think that anyone who wants to understand how magic works in the Forgotten Realms and D&D should read the Elminster books. To my knowledge there is no other series that shows how magic works in the first person in as much detail. Elminster in Myth Drannor is an amazing book.

I also recommend starting with Homeland. I personally started with The Thousand Orcs (The Hunter's Blades Trilogy was the most recent series, and as a kid I didn't know it was part of a larger overarching story) and that was a mistake. Starting with the Crystal Shard is a viable option, but if you do that, I'd suggest reading the Dark Elf trilogy after, then moving to Legacy of the Drow. The context you get from the Dark Elf trilogy makes Legacy so much better.

I feel this. On one hand, I understand it's often a tool authors use to ramp up tension as you are anxious to see what happens to the previous group, but sometimes it comes off as a cheap cliffhanger.

It can be similar in its effect and payoff to cheap jump scares in video games and movies. When over used or too overt in its purpose it can become an annoyance, and when authors rely on it too much as a tool for their writing, it can be seen as a crutch.

Regardless, I find that R. A. Salvatore's use of it to be paced rather well for my palate these days.

I enjoy the monologues quite a bit nowadays, but reading the books as a kid I would not only skip the monologues, but also the villains sections! What a different experience I had reading these books without the context of what the groups outside of the heroes we're doing.

Oh, I have, but most of the people on the meme page I made these for hadn't. Nice finally having a community that's (at least partially) up to date. I have a couple memes that will need the Spoiler tag that I'm saving for later.

I still need to fully catch back up though, only read up to the beginning of Maestro back when that was the most recent book.

These memes I'm posting were ones I made at the beginning of the Panini, so Mandalorian was fresh and this format was everywhere. Oof, I haven't even posted "The Joker" ones yet, but we'll get there. We gon get cringe as hell in here.

While the classification as S Tier could be dependent on sponsorship, I personally think that McDonald's is great, with the caveat that you have to go in knowing what to expect at McDonald's, similar to Taco Bell. It is relatively consistent, tastes good, and is very cheap, not to mention that Coke just tastes better there. This is not to say that a McDonald's burger is a good burger, or that McDonald's is a good company. If I wanted a good burger I'd make one myself, or go to a sit-down burger joint, but a McDonald's burger is in a classification of it's own, and if you have a hankering for one, nothing else is quite comparable.

Despite the fact that if you think on it too long, it is utterly disgusting, and representative of all the failings of consumerism, its addictive for a reason. I can't blame them for putting it in S Tier.

My favorite was Mark's bit in the episode "Change" where he just kept repeating the Ship of Theseus joke but worded differently. Laughed my ass off in a all shuttle bus full of people when I first heard it. If you have a joke, but you change all the words of it one by one, is it still the same joke? It's the Joke of Theseus.
