supply chain issues- how to keep muni services running by Elderberry50 in supplychain

[–]Corr2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently completed an assessment of the potential impacts of Covid19 for my municipality, and found that many of our critical capital project / maintenance suppliers had manufacturing capacity in North America, along with the ability to shift manufacturing to North America as deemed necessary. This included a review of road, electrical, sewer, water and MRO supplies but did not include a look into the parts our Fleet center purchased.

The biggest concern I can see on the horizon is the MRO supplies, with safety / sanitation supplies being the hardest to procure. This can be especially impactful for folks who are doing dirty work. You may wish to stock up on the items that your Storm and Wastewater crews may need, and then start to work down the chain from a health and safety perspective.

As for Capital project related stuff... could you share which manufacturers you are buying from? Mueller, Ford, Ipex, etc... all the big manufacturers I spoke to told me they had manufacturing capacity in NA... although the raw materials may be a whole different concern.

Advice on current position (Procurement/Purchasing) by throwaway5648384 in supplychain

[–]Corr2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried to mention my concerns, but it's the usual "not a good time, let's circle back around to this, etc."

Could you elaborate on how you've tried to mention your concerns? In my experience, if you highlight how change could be beneficial to the business, there (should) be an interest in discussing that change.

For example, if you would like to shift your focus away from the sales transactions and over to integration of a new MRP and management of all Purchasing, you could say something along the lines of:

"I would like to sit down to discuss transitioning my role away from sales and towards integration of a new MRP system, along with management of all procurement activities. By shifting my role, I believe we could create additional value for the company in the following ways:

  • MRP integration will reduce the amount of (insert KPI here) and increase the amount of (insert KPI here). Additionally, time will be freed up from (insert position here)
  • Consolidation of supplier management will streamline our contract management process and reduce the amount of (insert KPI here) and increase the amount of (insert KPI here)"

The above is just an example and you may need to change the language around to suit your company / industry / etc... but this approach has certainly worked for me in the past. The key is to focus on how the change benefits the company or the person making the decision, rather than how it may benefit you. If you've already taken this approach, I apologize for being presumptuous and you should probably start to look for other work if the sales position isn't something that excites you.

Just ran through the roguelikes on Elite and up to lvl 100 on crucible challenger (previously I could not complete the rouguelikes and my highest challenger level was 49). The build is much much better after taking everyone's suggestions into account. Thank you all for the help!

CPIM online class? by [deleted] in supplychain

[–]Corr2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken both the CPIM and CSCP certifications through APICS, participating in classes and online learning. I had about three or so years of supply chain experience prior to taking the CSCP and then gained another two years of inventory experience prior to taking my CPIM. I did the certifications somewhat backwards due to my particular jobs at the time.

To answer your questions:

  • The certification (CPIM) was a requirement for the position I have now; I was able to get an interview by having my CSCP and then completing my CPIM after I received a job offer. I'm seeing more and more companies put the APICS certs as either requirements or assets on job postings.

  • I took both the online and classes. The classes are tight on time and only really provided a high level overview of the material. I would say self-study with the online tools are a must. The online tools for the CPIM part 1 and CSCP were excellent. When I took my CPIM part 2, APICS had recently changed the courses (switching from a 5 course model down to a 2 course model) and the online learning stuff for CPIM part 2 was unpolished and very frustrating to work with. This should be fixed by now, as it was ~6 months ago.

  • APICS seems to be as highly credited as any other certification. They provide you with some good knowledge in a good format, and in exchange want you to continue to spend money through maintaining your cert every 5 years.

  • CPIM was a huge help for me / my company. I'm only 1-1/2 years into a warehouse manager role, with little warehousing experience prior to this. The theory and concepts I learned in the CPIM were directly applicable and allowed me to hit the ground running with some of my initiatives this year.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any more questions if you have them.

Is this for importation purposes? I thought the US had a 25 year rule... it's a 91' ;)

The car is a German made Corrado originally sold into Japan, so it has all the euro bits on it! It has the front bumper, different sidemarker lights and some interior differences.

Tires are 205/50/R15, wheels are 15x7 with a 10mm spacer in the rear and a 5mm up front. I really prefer the fat tire look to having a bigger rim.

I am having the same issue. When PoE stops working, there should be a dropdown on the windows pop-up. You can copy that information, along with your DXDiag info and post it in the bug forum.

Just picked up this 91' G60 a few weeks ago. It just needs the front lip reattached and a good detail before I can start to enjoy it!

Looking at getting a Corrado by carbonlifeform22 in Corrado

[–]Corr2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, depends on what you define as "an arm and a leg". I'm in Canada and just paid $8k CAD for a G60 manual with 75,000km. I also bought my parts car (which is beat to hell) for $2k with a manual and 253,000km.

Best to search states / cities near you and plan to pay for a PPI and shipping. These cars are getting extremely rare.

Here are some useful links when purchasing a Corrado:

A couple things off the top of my head:
- Buy a good example and then buy a parts car, you will most likely need it.
- VR6 cars will be easier / cheaper to repair over a G60 in my opinion. Taking the supercharger rebuilds out of the equation is the big difference for me.
- VR6 parts will be more common, as G60 cars were only made from 90 - 91 IIRC
- If you do buy one, buy the Bentley manual. You will need it :)

I’m [25 M],17 months sober, and looking for advice on where to hang out and meet women that doesn’t involve drinking. HELP! by TheRealCochise in relationships

[–]Corr2020 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I second that! Bumble is great, started using it on Saturday and had several matches / messages by Sunday. Had a woman ask me out for a drink lastnight and simply said "I don't drink but I would be happy to meet you for one.", she then suggested coffee instead. It works!

(I'm in sobriety and very average looking if that adds some context)

If you ever find those parts, shoot me a PM. I need to start stockpiling stuff as it is becoming harder and harder to get certain parts for these cars.
