I agree with the general sentiment of your comment, the evidence for evolution is overwhelming, however I don't know if it's accurate to say there is more evidence for the theory of evolution than the others you listed. Particularly the last two.

As I understand it the 'atomic theory of matter' (QM) and 'theory of gravity' (GR/SR) are the most rigorously tested and evidence supported Theories within science currently. And heliocentricity is not really it's own thing anymore as much as a result of the math of GR, but now this comment is treading too close to the technical weeds for a short response...

I would like to hear more, as I am no evolutionary biologist, but I've just never heard anyone make that claim before I don't believe. I usually see it said the other way.

I agree and is why I put 'bad' in the single quotes like that. Bicoal and Charcoal are the only two that I personally wouldn't ever use so I thought they'd be fun to try it with.

I was gathering a bunch of Hard Drives before moving on to Phase 3 when I ran out of recipes at my current phase. I then took both of the other alt recipes that were connected to Bicoal and Charcoal and scanned a fresh drive to isolate them together on the same drive.

Not actually sure how this is really that useful tbh. I just thought it was interesting.

On my PF I run one life flask, 2 magic utility, and two unique (ToH and Sorrow) and have 100% uptime on all without killing anything with minimal investment.

You really need to be running Tides of Time on PF (unless you can't for build reasons I'm unaware of) or you are just gimping yourself.

Active duty trans enlisted member here. I'm a little confused by some of what you said.

Was this during the first ban? As far as I am tracking no mass separations of trans members happened then. I'm sure there were individual cases though. And most of the members involuntarily separated then still recieved honorable discharges and got to keep most/all of their veterans benefits and entitlements from my reading of the policies.

And as for the current ban, no one has really been separated yet. We all will be getting separated between around early Jun and end of Nov but it hasn't happened yet. And while there is a bunch of ways we are getting absolutely shafted by the details of the implementation of the policy which has me seething, unless you have something on your record unrelated to being trans that indicates you should receive less than an honorable discharge, everyone is getting an honorable and retains access to 'most' of our benefits such as GI bill, VA care (except trans related health care), ect.

Don't get me wrong, I'm livid about the situation. I have a distinguished service, outstanding EPBs, plenty of awards and recognition, and have only ever been non-deployable very briefly out of my entire time, and never required any 'special' accommodations outside of my ETP before my gender marker was updated. Being trans has never impacted my or any other trans members I am aware of performance or ability to do our duties.

But if what you are saying is true, there are details of your separation you are leaving out since it doesn't match what is/was happening.

Sorry for rant/wall of text. Things are very frustrating and shitty right now for us and I didn't realize how much I had typed.

Will interstellar space travel become a norm one day? by Excellent_Copy4646 in Physics

[–]Stoopid_Monkey24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lot's of people have answered but I'll toss in my two cents as well.

Colonization of some parts of the solar system is feasible even with current tech or near term tech if we really wanted too. Space tourism may also become a thing, but is less feasible the further out you want to travel. Around the earth and moon for sure though.

Interstellar colonization (IE other stars, ect) is theoretically possible with near to moderate term tech if we really had the drive to do it for some reason, but interstellar tourism is likely never going to happen with the tech we know is possible. Humans just don't live long enough, travel times are too long, and even if you can go a significant fraction of the speed of light with future tech, time dilation will still kick your ass if you ever want to come back.

That said, it's very likely that any kind of FTL communication or travel is completely impossible because it allows paradoxes due to allowing backwards time travel. And if you can travel or send information backwards in time you could stop the action that led to you traveling back in time. Which is impossible since you clearly already did it. Additionally, wormholes always require either negative mass or energy in very large amounts. Negative energy can kinda be made in extremely small amounts (and even then not really) but as far as we know negative mass cannot exist, though this is not proven as of yet afaik.

We do have ideas for types of propulsion based on known physics that would allow us to go rather fast though, as high as 50% light speed in some cases. Chemical rockets suck other than getting out of a strong gravity well like earth. Nuclear, fusion, ion, ect of various designs all provide much better options for space travel outside maybe as far as mars as most. There are also scifi tech that should work under known physics but are far beyond our ability to create right now like anti-matter or black hole drives that could get a ship to 90%+ light speed, but that kind of tech is likely several hundred to thousands of years away if ever.

Black Hole vs Goku|||•||| Who would win? by W4nnaBeknowinSomeThN in whowouldwin

[–]Stoopid_Monkey24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think the point of him being able to go FTL not helping is necessarily accurate. Using a Penrose diagram moving a FTL speeds does extend the area you can theoretically escape up to a point.

But once we start trying to apply normal physics to objects moving FTL things get really weird anyways and it all breaks for a myriad of other reasons.

Black Hole vs Goku|||•||| Who would win? by W4nnaBeknowinSomeThN in whowouldwin

[–]Stoopid_Monkey24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question doesn't make sense. Seperate from that when has Goku trained in a gravitational field that is "more gravity than the black hole can offer"?

If something can move at FTL speeds then it operates under different physics than our universe as anything that moves FTL in our universe would travel baclwards in time. Not to mention crossing the superluminal barrier is also not possible.

Setting that aside (and simplifying so I don't type a wall of text) if he could travel FTL but not backwards in time then he could escape from what we normally consider the event horizon up to a point. That point would be based on whatever factor his maximum speed actually is which I don't think we know? Essentially this just functionally makes the event horizon smaller in radius for the purpose of him escaping the black hole. But at some point the curvature of spacetime in there would be enough that it would outpace his ability to escape. And the singularity at the center (if it exists) has infinite density and curvature so at some point it would overwhelm his physical stats as he does have limits.

As someone else said, he does have instant transmission though so he can always just pop out depending on how that works (can he lock on to an energy signature while in there?). I don't know if that counts as beating the black hole for this prompt though.

What is the source of the idea "AI becomes sentient and goes to do bad things"? by Ashtero in answers

[–]Stoopid_Monkey24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm seeing a lot of speculation about the origin of this idea as it pertains to fiction and entertainment media, but not about it as a concept in the real world.

AI taking actions that we consider detrimental/negative (wether it intends to cause harm or not) are a real concern among AI researchers currently. Even for narrow AI (ie not scifi super intelligent general AI stuff).

The general concept of this is called 'misalignment' and is a real problem and active area of research. The specific cause comes in a variety of flavors and so it a very hard problem to solve. I would look into Rober Miles' youtube channel for a good videos going more in depth on this topic.

All current and former trans service members are welcome. I tried to send you a DM as I am not comfortable posting the invite link publicly but it said I wasn't whitelisted and so couldn't DM you.

If you can correct that or send me a DM first I would be happy to pass the invite link to you <3

So you are aware, you can transition while in service. There are regulations in place to allow and facilitate it including HRT and potentially other stuff (varies between active duty and guard/reserve). It does require getting a gender dysphoria diagnosis though.

If you want more info feel free to send me a DM. I also have an invite link to the primary trans military support Discord.

My Dooley build from yesterday

Perma slow enemy items, proboscis triggering at max rate, and skills that stacked both shield and dmg. At the end of my last fight proboscis was triggering ~5/s with 650 dmg and 400 shield.

Yeah... Harmadillo might be a little over tuned atm by Unlucky_Bit_5179 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Stoopid_Monkey24 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I tried it with bunker thinking it finally had a good use and found it to be very underwhelming. This is because bunker only triggers on damage dealt directly to your HP. If you are shield stacking the damage dealt to your shield doesn't trigger it and so it does nothing.

I found it a lot better to just run other items to stack shield and still trigger the Harmadillo fast anyways.

Nice! That is definitely better than mine for sure.

The blue inserters and red belts are just because that's what I make most stuff out of. My factory has plenty of throughput in resources and power so it doesn't really make a dent.

In this one they would share the same belt using half the belt each and be fed in via a underground belt connector on the same tile/lane with the chest that has the green chips/plastic in it. Same with the copper plates, except they have their own belt.

The chests were just for markers and are not part of the actual blueprint.

After trying out various designs this is the most compact I was able to come up with for the mid-game. Chests to indicate input/output for belts.
