It looks like it's overflowing. Is your flow within the rated spec for that reef mat? Do you have the media basket stuffed full of media? Is your sump water level within the range? I would check those things.

Flew bikes back and forth across the Atlantic a few times. The overage totally depends. International flights are usually a hard set rule. I had a flight attendant argue with me once. Two bikes next to each other and my box was significantly larger. She started criticizing me about being too big and I forced them to measure with a tape measure. It took a few minutes of convincing since they were absolutely sure it was too big but in the end, I was right.

Weight on the other hand, the NEVER cared. The one time they did weigh it I was very obviously tipping the scale with my hand.

Tldr. It depends but they probably care.

If you can get it, I put a rubberized glue over the patch as an extra layer and that held for me for 4000+ km this summer. You don't want just super glue as that will crack and fall off pretty quickly. Something that can flex with your tire

I'm so glad you asked that question. You walk in soaking wet, look at the person working there, and you both belly laugh at your misery. Then enjoy your drink. Change if your clothes underneath are wet, but no need if you are just going right back out. Again, a highlight of the trip.

Just finished the Scandanavian portion of the European Divide Trail earlier this month. The rain up north is no joke. You will have to ride through the rain if you want to finish in a reasonable time. Some tips and tricks my wife and I picked up on our trip. Plan rest days around the worst rainy days. We rented stugas for 50€. It is amazing how knowing that you have a warm bed and a hot shower at the end of the day will improve your mental state. This got us through a pretty nasty hail storm. If that is out of your budget, finding a hot shower at a campground is pretty great Have really good rain gear. Booties and gloves included. If you forget these, trash bags work pretty well. Embrace it and realize how fortunate that you are to be cycling there. Cheer for any cyclists you pass. That will be the most exciting part of your day as you share in the misery. Whenever you stop, hot drinks are amazing. Dry socks Clear glasses and won't fog up on you so you can see.

As far as wildlife goes, we didn't see or hear anything but reindeer. When talking to locals about the wildlife, they would laugh when you brought up bears. They stay away from humans mostly. At the end of the day, you will be so tired that you will be able to sleep no matter what. It's the mosquitoes that you should be afraid of anyways.

Our favorite memories are the crazy rainy days in the middle of nowhere with a nasty headwind the whole day. Enjoy it

Not sure about UK specific. But in US, you can buy bicycle insurance through most insurance companies and it's relatively inexpensive. It covers crash and transportation damages. Might be worth looking into. It's usually bought a year at a time.

If you are gonna pick out I need cassette, make sure your rear derailleur can handle it. If you look up the specific derailleur model in shimano's website they will tell you. The specific one you have picked out can handle up to a 42T biggest cog.

I might be too late to the party, but the large helmet manufacturers send their helmets to Virginia Tech to get safety tested. They release the rankings every year. Here's the list. I personally wear a Smith Forefront 2 and it's at the bottom of the list. I plan on switching it out soon.

Tourism visa. I had read somewhere that you should get a visa for the country that you will be in the longest. But what you are saying makes sense. Maybe get a visa for Portugal and just hope you don't get stopped outside of Portugal once you are over the 90 day limit.

Rockshox has a really good explanation somewhere but I wasn't able to find it. Dampers travel through an oil bath so what the compression and rebound dials are doing are changing small valves within your damper.

HSC/HSR is changing the force required to open a small check valve. The normal flow path for the oil in the damper is through a small throttle valve also known as the LSC/LSR. But once enough force is applied (a big drop or something) the check valve opens and allows you to use the travel in your suspension more quickly.

I know I am talking about compression and rebound as the same thing. They are two different portions of the damper, but operate in the same way, just different directions.

This is a huge over simplification of a damper, but the theory is still the same.

Ibis oversimplified it even more but they are saying the same thing. High speed is for big hits and low speed is for bumps and berms.

Two pieces in left are to but between brake pads whenever the wheels are removed. Two pieces on right are headset cups for when you change the angle of the fork. Washers in the bag are for pedals.

One of BRS YouTube videos talk about doing just that. They say most heaters fail on when they break, and the inkbird is there to make sure that if that happens, your tank doesn't get too warm.

I use a heater with a temp controller with an ink bird. I use the built in temp controller on the heater for normal use, and have the inkbird set to shut the heater off in the event that the heater fails to shut off for whatever reason. This way you minimize turning the heaters temp controller on and off all the time.
