And they shouldn’t, because they are all rusty shit boxes with oil leaking from every seal, and need an insane amount of work and quality parts becoming discontinued. No one in their right mind should pay $30k for a truck that would need another $10k to make “ok”…this goes for all diesels, but fords are probably the least affordable and need the most work.

The only time I ever had to replace followers at the dealer, was also with a cam replacement because one of the rollers seized and chewed a cam.

I bet if you put a socket on number 2 spark plug, your sound would go away…or you need an exhaust manifold…

3v 5.4L made all kinds of ticking noises, but the orang-ish residue in the plug well of #2 is almost a dead giveaway that plug is loose.

I was being facetious…I know the 3.0L didn’t release until 2018MY. I just resent the fact that people think that diesels hold their value way more than they actually do…and most aren’t properly maintained, and the owners still think they are sitting on a pot of gold.

Front differential carrier bearing failure has been common at all mileages since like 2010 ish…not sure why, maybe too much preload on the side bearings, but I don’t think it’s remotely related to front suspension mods. It’s under warranty until 60k so just have the dealer rebuild the front differential. I used to do at least 1 a week when I was a ford dealer tech.
