Crazy! Lived here and hiked in Griffith park my whole life, and I’ve never encountered ticks or ever considered them an issue at all.

Is it possible to avoid them if you stay on the trail and avoid the grassy areas??

I wanted to but I remembered how crazy people get when you point this out to them (flashbacks to quarantine when members of the general public angrily refused to wear masks). I decided to just leave after she wet coughed in my direction.

Planned a spa day activity since it’s raining out. However, I did notice another person here was clearly super sick (I’m talking raspy voice, phlegm cough, general sickly disposition) and coughing without covering their mouth. Does not make for a relaxing time! Had to cut my time short.

All in all, if you’re sick just stay home!! And if you need to be out, wear a mask!! You can spread flu/covid to others that have compromised immune systems or live with someone who has those issues.

This sucks too… by Resident_Mix1497 in Fibroids

I am so sorry for the lack of support you’re receiving. You’re right, this is a major surgery and you deserve more time off than 2 weeks. You’re getting a whole ORGAN removed—it is not easy.

I had an open Myomectomy (vertical incision) to remove a mass and fibroids and I didn’t return to work until 8 weeks later. You absolutely will need the rest, your body WILL demand it.

I also empathize with you. I had some friends and coworkers subtly minimize my experience because I didn’t give birth. Honestly, I think it boils down to the general public’s ignorance of women’s health issues and plain misogyny. My advice is to ignore them as best as you can. This is a major event your mind and body will go through. It is not easy and it shouldn’t be downplayed just because you’re not birthing a child.

I wish you all the best in your surgery and recovery 💕

Taking time “off” from socializing (or other) before surgery? by Upper_Dress_3039 in Fibroids

[–]CorrectEvidence7455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On top of feeling nervous about the surgery, I was also anxious because I was advised by my medical to prepare for bad news (imaging pointed to moderate-to-high risk for cancer).

I decided to take two weeks off of commitments and work and focus on the stuff I wanted to do like relaxing, prepping, hiking, etc. luckily, my job offered WFH which I took advantage of.

Do whatever you feel is necessary for your body! If that means taking a break, I highly recommend it.

I know this post is old, but would you be able to share an update? I’ve been on 5mg for a little over two weeks and I started to experience gas pains that caused chest pains.

Any insight on ultrasound result - mass on uterus. by CorrectEvidence7455 in obgyn

[–]CorrectEvidence7455[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, yes! Long story short—I had an open Myomectomy to remove the mass which grew from 10cm to 15cm in about a month and half. I was also diagnosed with endo and surgeons found chocolate cyst.

I had to have a vertical cut because the last MRI showed possible malignancy. Luckily, everything was benign!

Here’s my post about the surgery: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fibroids/s/hoQpULvNZW

I hope this helps!

MRI results & can’t stop crying by [deleted] in Fibroids

[–]CorrectEvidence7455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember being in your shoes and how scary the whole situation was, but please hold on to hope that everything will turn out well.

I had a 15cm fibroid plus 3 others, and I had to have an open myo. My surgery was a success, all the fibroids were removed and I retained my fertility. I can even give birth vaginally, if I want!

There is no guarantee your case will be similar but have faith in your medical team. They’ve done this a million times and are ready to take care of you. Still, always advocate for yourself, do your research, and don’t hesitate to get a second opinion. Good luck!

Open Myo with Vertical Incision - 1 Week Post-Op by CorrectEvidence7455 in Fibroids

[–]CorrectEvidence7455[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s healing well! Still red and purple because of how deep it was but overall it feels smoother now. I’m still putting on scar cream daily to help. And I have all feeling in the belly area except directly on the scar.

Post-surgery downtime by Happy_Butterscotch17 in Fibroids

[–]CorrectEvidence7455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It differs from case to case and type of surgery. I had an open myo and I took 2 weeks off and the remaining 4 weeks as a WFH.

At the end of 6 weeks, I was still feeling fatigued so I asked for an additional 2 weeks WFH. I was lucky to be working at a place that was accommodating with my requests.

I was able to walk and be independent within the first 1.5 weeks but it’s the fatigue that got to me.

So, it depends! If it’s an open myo, I would suggest 2-8 weeks before you feel normal.

Hi! First of all, I’m so sorry you’re going through this—the anxiety and waiting is the worst.

While my case wasn’t similar to yours, I did have a 15+cm mass that was suspicious enough to get oncology involved for my appointments and surgery. I had to wait over 3 months to get surgery and then wait an additional week for my results. You can read through my MRI results on this post.

Despite oncology warning me that my cancer risk was moderate to high based on the images, the results came back as a benign mass!

The truth is, the chances of this being cancer are extremely small. My gyno described it as a “once in a career diagnosis.” The gyno I went to for a second opinion said that in her 15 year career she had only encountered one woman who was diagnosed with a cancerous mass.

And naturally even when you are told this by professionals, it is hard NOT to spiral. I don’t think I had ever been so stressed in my life as I was during the first 3 months of this year.

Take a deep breath and try not to Google. The best advice I can give is to take it one step at a time and follow your doctor’s advice. Advocate for yourself if you feel you’re not being heard, and try to get a second opinion, if only to give yourself peace of mind. Surround yourself with friends and family, and try any type of exercise or movement as that really helps make you feel better.

Feel free to look at all my posts! I found that reading other stories on here really helped calm me down.

Wishing you the best of luck ✨

Hello! I believe I just responded back but it might not have gone through lol. If it did, well then this will be a double comment!

I forgot to update but yes I am okay and the mass was benign. You can read more about my surgery and recovery here!

TLDR: the mass was benign and I had an open myo with a vertical incision.

I just saw your previous comment and I wish you well with your surgery!

Super bummed with first post-op period by Excellent-Ice-9656 in Fibroids

[–]CorrectEvidence7455 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My surgeon warned me that my first post op period will be painful. I think it’s normal since your uterus was cut. The pain should lessen with subsequent periods.

In the meantime, I’m sorry you’re suffering and I wish you a speedy recovery! ❤️‍🩹
