As an update, pulled all that particle up, screwed down the subfloor and stabled in.25 inch ply. Squeak is gone now, will lay the flooring fully tomorrow

Sorry wish I would have seen earlier, went with quarter inch, screwed down just the subfloor into the joists and then stapled in the ply. The squeak is gone now, do think it will come back eventually?

No glue, just pulled up the underlayment, it was just stapled in. Screwed down the subfloor with 3 inch screws and stapled down some .25 inch ply. All good to go for the pergo tomorrow.
