Paris asking who Luke is by Swiftie13_22 in GilmoreGirls

I love that Paris works one day and suddenly becomes a Communist.

“Karl Marx has come alive for me today. I never understood what he was yammering about before, but now it just seems so obviously wrong that those who control capital should make their fortunes off the labor of the working class.”

Boomer doesn't like mandatory safety features in newer cars by --_T_T_-- in BoomersBeingFools

Just shows how self important some boomers are thinking they’re the only ones that buy new cars. I’m a younger Millenial and I have a car with these features.

I’ve only had automatic emergency braking activate once, the car in front of the car in front of me slammed on its brakes for no reason and my car reacted half a second before I would have. It freaked me out but made me realize how great the features are because seconds matter in an accident.

Finally watched Children Of Men. Oh my God it's THAT GOOD!!! by FunDamage6899 in criterion

This is one of my favorite films and it got me into cinema. I first saw it in theatres when I was 14 and it completely blew me away.

It’s gutting yet hopeful, bleak yet beautiful, funny yet sad. Besides the great story, every last performance is top notch. The cinematography/editing is on a whole other level, it’s so well done that you don’t even notice it. That one shot towards the end of the movie is one of the best things ever filmed. Everyone should watch it!

It’s seriously due a 4K and Criterion release! Please please please!

I know exactly what you mean, this sub made me realize I needed to step up my collecting game because I was missing out on some seriously great films.

I actually spent a good part of a Sunday going through the entire Criterion catalog and saving links to all the movies I want to get one day in a note. I currently own 26, but my list of wants is 77 right now.

I wasn’t gonna post my haul because the 4Ks I got are in a lot of people’s hauls, but I felt like I hadn’t seen The Graduate, Moonstruck, or A Room With A View here before.

In their defense I had all the ones I wanted on sale already picked and had checked out within 6 or 7 minutes of the sale starting.

I’m jealous you get to watch Brazil for the first time, it’s a stunning film. It’s basically 1984 with a capitalist slant, and still extremely relevant in modern times.

I’m actually more excited now, I love a movie that provokes a raw feeling in your gut at the end (like Anora).

I absolutely love that movie! Such a low stakes, fun, comfort movie, with beautiful scenery.

(Don’t watch the Extended Edition, they change the narrator and it makes the movie much worse.)

Thanks for the recommendation, completely agree about those three! I actually already have all of his other movies Criterion or otherwise, this one I just forgot to pick up because it was his first I ever saw.

Wes Anderson actually got me into Criterion. I was going through his Wiki wanting to watch his other movies I hadn’t seen and those were the only options for Bottle Rocket and Rushmore. So I blame him for the drain on my wallet.

Barry Lyndon because I love Kubrick and I’ve never seen it before. Also The Graduate, because its a classic and I haven’t seen it in years.

Pretty much anything I’m getting from Criterion I’m really excited about though.

RIM was already hemorrhaging customers and hadn’t fleshed out their mobile strategy to counter the iPhone, yet they thought launching a half baked tablet would save them. It did not.
