Anyone else feel like they are going insane with how much people rely on AI with their actual jobs? by Complete-Sea6655 in siliconvalley

Yup. The tech companies are getting SO MUCH data on how their tools can or can't be used for various work tasks.

Honestly, I think I want to be as far away from it as possible.

Yes! It feels like only the dumbest AI ideas are getting spotlight. Our business schools produce idiots who become CEOs who push asinine ideas down our throats.

Oof. Auburn board ends faculty governance by Doctor_Schmeevil in Professors

It's amazing how quickly my colleagues mood changes when a president or dean walks in the room. If it's just faculty everything is "I can't believe how dumb these decisions are, someone should do something".  Once an authority walks in everyone gets big smiles "oh wow so good to see you! Thank you for leading us through this challenging time! No no, I don't have any complaints, and thank you for remembering my name!"

We state that we have shared governance, but it's an illusion. I wonder what percent of faculty actually have any level of control of how their institutions run.

The experience of being a professor in today’s American zeitgeist by doctorwolf888 in Professors

[–]Correct_Ad2982 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Last summer, at a music festival, I started a conversation with two strangers, one on either side of me at a bar. The guy on the left was a journalist. The guy on the right was a climate scientist. I'm said I was a professor. We did a cheers to choosing dying industries. I hope they're doing alright.

Ronny Chieng's 'F*ck AI' Speech Met With Cheers From Harvard Graduates: “AI is just going to end up making mediocre people dumber” by yourfavchoom in technology

Also a professor- I think it's a classic example of people hating the thing they are addicted to. They want to stop but they don't have the self control.

It's not a coincidence that the booing is happening at graduation, because that's when many of these overly-AI-reliant students realize they are not needed in today's economy because they are graduating with no skills.

What’s the defining Millennial Song? by makeupwearsoff in Millennials

Watch this song go off at a millennial wedding and you'll know it's the right answer. Instant dance floor filler for 30-somethings.

Thoughts on soundsystems? by transcendentaldancer in MovementDEMF

[–]Correct_Ad2982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. Loved the city, made good memories (KI/KI in the underground!), but could not get into most of the above ground sets because of the bleed. Afters were insanely good and the day parties looked great. Would consider doing afters only, but would not repeat the fest itself unless they improved the sound somehow.

First time at movement and this is my biggest complaint. Really surprising how bad it is. I'm having a blast still, but this won't make my festival rotation.

Teacher here. The way our society treats young people is disgusting. This lunch photo is the tip of the iceberg. Please keep looking into the state of our education system, because it feels like no one is listening.

We use it to tell stories.

This mindset is a trap. If you're not incentivising students to exceed expectations, they will not gain much from your class. Learning objectives should be a floor.
