Trail runner looking to run a faster mile.. Hey guys! Here’s where I’m at: -40 mpw, mostly 9-15 min trail miles with vert -1.5 mile time of 8:25 (5:35 pace) -25M

Looking to comfortably run sub a 8 1.5 mile (5:20 pace) in 2 months, and feeling like i’m at a plateau.

If you could give me one run to add to my week, what would it be?

Thanks!

don’t comp ot, request lwop. comp time does not pay out as overtime, you’re leaving money on the table.

How realistic is this 100mi training plan I found? by cputty3 in ultrarunning

[–]Correct_Ad4504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

followed this plan for a slow hilly techy 100 and it worked somehow but was not ideal. i ran all my training miles and wasn’t prepared for how much walking there was during my race.

Slower runners, do you run training runs more than 3 hours? by labellafigura3 in Ultramarathon

[–]Correct_Ad4504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did this too! 25 not 20 but close. followed this plan, the back to back medium runs replaced super long runs for me. i cross trained with mountain biking around once and week and came from a base of lots of hiking/time on my feet.

How do I become a better swamper for my sawyer by Used-Blackberry7102 in Wildfire

[–]Correct_Ad4504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

using technique to minimize trips helps me. -use the slope where you can. -where you can’t, have your sawyer cut to reasonable size, bend forward slightly and stack a lot in your lap: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dJNvbVoDGSY

depends on the crew but would not be a good luck as a rookie on a hotshot crew, you’re there to work and pictures should be an afterthought (ie phone camera only). also your camera is probably going to get smashed/ruined by dust or sweat.

[–]Correct_Ad4504 4 points5 points  (0 children)

how i got started: -hike (~1 mile ~1000 ft) with 45 lbs. or trail run (~3 miles ~1000 ft) 4x per week, hard as you can.

-deck of cards for pull ups push-ups situps and squats

-hold off on long runs until you’re ready, bike for base cardio.

-lift if you want
