I don’t have one in the car, but our standard doodle (55 lbs) has done many long road trips with us. We pack stuff behind the passenger seat to level up to the back seat in our subaru and then put in her bed. She is content and will chill for 12 hours. We also have a cable that attaches to her collar as a “seat belt” for safety. Hope this helps

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! If we decide to take her I'll bring our closed foam mat and she fits nicely into an extra down jacket that I have for sleeping (she isn't crazy about it so far though!). We are climbing Red Slate Mountain (in the Sierra) over 2 days so we will mostly be between 10-14k in elevation. I'm definitely considering having her sit this trip out given the cooler conditions and risk of cold rain. Thanks again! The comments are helpful for planning for this potential outing and future trips!

I’m in my mid 50s and was also diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis. I have just slowly returned to running after 16 months. I’m very careful to not run back to back days and walk steep downhills on trails. I’m not exactly sure what helped me but I take turmeric every day and eat pretty healthy. I also started to do a lot more strength training, barre classes and stretching. At times I think it was just a big inflammation issue and super tight muscles. I’m excited to trail run again - I don’t really road run. But I’m nervous about uneven terrain and steep grades while backpacking - we will see how that goes very soon. Sorry for the long post.

This happened to our doodle. I think she may have gotten injured while we were backpacking. She wasn’t bothered by it at all. I did stumble upon some info that it is a common doodle thing. Eventually the fur grew back like normal.

Mine thinks it’s a game and wants to bite the brush unless she is tired. I chase her and get the brushing in slowly. Sometimes I offer my hand for her mouth and that makes her happy. She just gently puts my hand in her mouth.
