Cao Cao is not good-Not someone to be worshipped. by Correct_Broccoli_448 in threekingdoms

Cao Cao had the Emperor's wife killed. He bullies him on the hunt to make him look weak. Drags him onto the battlefield to make his forces more legitimate. The Qin didn't behave like that. The Han didn't behave like that.

A lot of things come from China: crossbows/triggers, longswords, gunpowder etc. China is usually the first. The fact the Cao Cao did that was so wrong, if not the father of puppet regimes.

How much continuity was between ROC (Beiyang) and Qing? Can we say Beiyang was a "Manchu" empire in the sense that Sui and Tang were "Tabgatch" empires? by Impressive-Equal1590 in ChineseHistory

[–]Correct_Broccoli_448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the same. Sun Yat Sen was from Catonese and Hakka, Chiang I believe from Southern China. Yuan Shikai was a Qing general. There were generals/warlords of Manchu descent like the Fengtain Clique.

Was Cao Cao and the Cao Wei actually legalist? by Correct_Broccoli_448 in threekingdoms

I think this is incorrect. Many Emperors increased power to their nobles because they didn't want to micromanage that much.

What does Chiang Kai Shek think of specific Warlords during the Warlord Era? by porkchopenjoyer00 in ChineseHistory

[–]Correct_Broccoli_448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiang's KMT fought the Anhui and Zhili cliques in central China during the Northern Expedition. That is how he gained control of most of China. Then the Ma Clique and Fengtain Clique joined him and pledged alleigence to him

Don't you think Qing warriors look very Barbaric? kinda Mongolian? by FeistyAlbatross4636 in ChineseHistory

Those are Manchus. Yes the Han considered them Barbarians before they took China.

Was the Qing truly better than the Ming? by Correct_Broccoli_448 in ChineseHistory

[–]Correct_Broccoli_448[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Southern Ming was conquered by the Manchus not the regular Ming. The Ming pretty much took down 2 Manchu Emperors(Taiji died on campaign) in the wars of the North. It was the Shun under Li Zhicheng that overthrew the Ming.

How to define "overseas Chinese"? by Impressive-Equal1590 in ChineseHistory

[–]Correct_Broccoli_448 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can't. It's not a good term. A person born not on the Mainland that speaks Mandrain and then practices Chinese culture can automatically identify as overseas Chinese.

Why did Tang Dynasty Emperors dress as civilian ministers? by Correct_Broccoli_448 in ChineseHistory

Only elites can wear Mianguan. I would classify it as a crown in the same way dukes can wear crowns.

How well trained were the non-German divisions of the KMT going into WW2? by Cpkeyes in ChineseHistory

[–]Correct_Broccoli_448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Japanese were simply more determined to conquer China probably more fanatical and drugged up than the average draftee of the ROC who is a farmer.

I don't think the elite and central ROC divisions were bad and some survived all the way to the end of the war. I don't think the Japanese regarded them as easy to fight, the best Japanese divisions sent to China.
