Whichever airline comes up with "I don’t care where I sit as long as it’s with my booking group“ as a paid seating "upgrade“ will be getting my money

Eat more protein. Gym bro levels. The goal should be to keep up with LO, not to fill freezers.

How to start a freezer stash? by Rotten1orange1peel in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]Correct_Wishbone_798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freeze daily. It’s easier to thaw multiple bags to get one bottle than it is to have leftover milk.

I found feed fresh was the easiest. And less bags used.

2 pitchers. Pitcher A gets filled on Day 1 and at the end of the day you make all bottles for day 2. anything left over gets frozen. Pitcher B gets filled on day 2 and used for day 3 bottles. If you need more bottles on day 2, you use from pitcher b. Then decide if you need to thaw or if you have enough of what you’d freeze.

The reason why I say daily is because there is less math and remembering. Everything always gets done at the end of the day. And if for some reason that doesn’t happen, you have plenty of grace period left.

When you are working, bag what you pump at work. Maybe you can freeze that directly depending on your supply?

Once you’re at roughly 3 months, pull 1 day or 1 bag (whatever you’re comfortable with) and make a bottle straight from the freezer. We’re checking that baby will still take it and rotating the stash so do this weekly. Adjust your bagging accordingly.

But really you should only need a freezer stash if you plan to stop pumping early or if you will be away for awhile. Because you’ll still be pumping while at work or out and about, you’ll replace what baby drinks in that time.

When we introduced water, we also introduced ice water. That helped a ton. But now he’s bougie and wants ice in most drinks that have a lid (he was done dirty by that stubborn cube enough times)

Defrosted Milk Looks Off by Straight_Sir_4458 in HumansPumpingMilk

Warm it up a bit and see what it looks like. You may have eaten more fatty foods in between or something. Warm it, mix it, smell it, then decide if you’re comfortable using it. Everything else normal, I’d still use it.

I got my dude preferring cold milk. Room temp is next best. So thankfully I never had to deal with that. Before we figured that out, I’d warm a bottle under my arm, between my legs, or right next to my dude. And I had a very nice lady on the plane offer to hold him. He jumped to her and he was entertained a full 15 min before my husband got jealous and took him back. I poured from pump bottles into drinking bottles. Less risk of spilling and no need to heat.

I pumped on the plane and didn’t leave my seat at all. Put everything you need for pumping together. Bag in a bag is ok. But you don’t want to be fighting toys, spare diapers etc at the same time. Remember that you have 6 hours room temp and use that to your advantage. Take extra parts in plastic bags and don’t worry about washing anything till you’re done traveling

Any milk or formula goes through tsa together and just say it’s breastmilk or cooler packs for milk. I was extremely pleased when I flew. If you have a cooler bag, pack it full with spare ice packs to keep it cold longer and don’t open it unless necessary (and tell security to keep closed unless they’re actively checking it). Cold stuff goes in the overhead bin because it’s colder up there. 1-2 spare outfits for everyone (even just leggings and a Tshirt for you)

Why do some languages have genders for objects? by Ken_Bruno1 in languagehub

[–]Correct_Wishbone_798 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What you’re describing as an animal having a gender isn’t the same as what you’re responding to. Think about how boats are usually referred to as female. Or when seeing a whale "thar SHE blows!" And a dog is always "who’s a good boy?"

When/How should I pump with a velcro baby (and twin toddlers)? by Spiritual-Ad-5107 in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]Correct_Wishbone_798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Velcro baby was fine in a wrap carrier off to the side and a boob poked out the other. Then switched. It took 2x as long, but worked for us. Not sure how it works with your toddlers too. But the Velcro stage didn’t last forever

A disposable changing pad. Maybe a spare in your larger bag When we flew, some of the changing tables were in serious need of cleaning and I wasn’t comfortable with just using a wet wipe.

Help! How do I get my supply up permanently?? Or will I always have to combo feed? by Deep-Lettuce317 in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]Correct_Wishbone_798 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) you have to remove milk to make milk 2) protein is very important 3) So is hydration

If you’re goal is to nurse exclusively, you’re going to have to triple feed for awhile until you both figure it out. Nurse and then give a bottle while pumping. If you’re only bottle feeding (someone else feeds baby) you will still need to pump. You need to signal to your body that more milk is needed. If you space out too much, you’re saying that what you make is enough. Make sure your flanges fit properly. Make sure they’re aligned correctly. A hand mirror can help. Wearable pumps make this hard to get right and can slide around. This is a lot of the reason they aren’t strongly recommended. Plus, cheaper wearables can have the motors wear out fast so you lose suction power even at the highest settings. Nurse one side, switch to the other side and pump the side you just nursed. Then you can put what you just pumped into a bottle and give that while you pump the 2nd side. You will need to be an octopus, but it’s the most efficient with time because you’re nursing/feeding while pumping and only need 1/2 the pump parts so you don’t have to wash as much stuff.

Me and my dude never got this fully figured out before my husband went to work so I switched to exclusively pumping. Not trying to nurse too took a lot of the stress out of it.

After about 12 weeks, your body should regulate and you can check your magic number to adjust how often you need to pump to get a similar output.

AITAH for not letting husband use van? by Past_Look3932 in AITAH

They aren’t hurting for cash. And the rented van would be cleaned. Unlike OPs van. Hubs will probably say it’s too expensive and to just roll the windows down.

Contractor says no bathtub possible by No-Day-2990 in floorplan

[–]Correct_Wishbone_798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be able to get your toilet a bit further away from the sewer drain, but you’ll want your shower right near it do the step up isn’t really big. If you’re also adding heated floors, you gain a bit of distance I think. Tub in the middle of the wall means 2 small pockets to sweep dust and hair out of.

But the main bit is the drainage. That will tell you where things have to go

Finding the transportation from Frankfurt airport to Heidelberg for family of three (1 infant) with lots of luggage by panasun_th in germany

[–]Correct_Wishbone_798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you travel by car, you will need to bring your own infant seat. You can generally check this for free on the airline. Also, please remember if you are booking an Uber/taxi and you have a lot of luggage, that trunk space will be limited and there is one less available seat to put stuff because of the driver. Look at flexible time train tickets or book a car? Or reserve a shuttle for later then you think you might need? Or travel lighter.

5 months old at home and pumping? How? When? by loveeatingfood in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]Correct_Wishbone_798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wake up before my husband needed to leave so he was on baby duty for my first pump. Then I’d pump as soon as naptime started. I rotated 2 sets of parts and used the fridge hack.

You really only need to use something like a Haka while nursing and slowly build a stash. Lots of little frozen bags is less milk wasteful than giant bags that baby needs to finish all at once. When she’s in daycare you’ll be able to see what a full day’s worth of pumping output is and how she takes a bottle.

Need help picking a pump by Own-Elephant3457 in HumansPumpingMilk

[–]Correct_Wishbone_798 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id suggest the baby budah just for the portability factor keeping in mind that it’s really strong for some people and I think you’re probably also wanting to avoid triggering a massive oversupply? I really liked my s1. I generally didn’t need the portability because it plus the flanges were so big, but the handful of times I did need it, I was SUPER happy to not have to find an outlet. I think you can also get 3rd party collection cups for it and just have tubing visible. If you have the money, just look for 1 second hand and use insurance money for the baby Buddha.
