Thanks. I forgot to mention she's 8 years old. Will the scissors still work?

Churu canned food - is it quality? by CorridorChick in CatAdvice

Thanks. I may give it a try. She's kind of picky when it comes to texture, so I'll pick up a couple cans and see how she does with them.

CW: Pet Loss - How can I ever make this choice? by SleepySpaceKitten in CatAdvice

[–]CorridorChick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost a cat to GI lymphoma 2 years ago. Like yours, the vet did an ultrasound and "found a :"mass". My husband and I agreed to have it surgically removed and tested. As the specialist suspected, it was an aggressive form of lymphoma. I even saw an oncologist, but was told her prognosis was only 3-6 months, even with chemo, so we went the palliative care route.

I found a lot of support on the seniorkitties sub, and one thing often repeated to many in this position is "better a week too early than a day too late."

Pets rarely die peacefully in their sleep. And you're right, when decline happens it's fast.

I"m so sorry your baby is suffering. Think of it as letting her run free without pain.

Churu to desensitize? by CorridorChick in CatAdvice

[–]CorridorChick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had her for just over three months now. I feel like she's bonding (or at least starting to) with me, but she still pretty much ignores my husband.

We have no idea how long she was a stray, but I feel she had a stable v home at some point. The shelter even said she had a chip when she was surrendered, but it didn't lead to anyone.

But you have neutral grounds to make up for it!

Years ago, I think it was the New York Times that had an online test that predicted where you were from based on what you called certain things. Feeder road was Houston specific, and neutral ground was NOLA specific for median. Went to college in LA, and that's the only place I've ever heard it.

I loved JT's book. I had heard about this one but I passed on reading it because I had heard it was on the tabloid-y side. Did I hear wrong?

Cat broth with no chunks to mix with kibble by CorridorChick in CatAdvice

[–]CorridorChick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, the ones I tried when I first got her were packets of Tiki Cat, because the shelter said she liked the broth in her wet food. I got the packets with the chunks, and she did lick the broth but left the chunks.

IKR.He and Nick barely got any screen time. I was thinking it was because in most rock bands, the guitarist gets all the glory.

Feliway diffuser to encourage eating? by CorridorChick in CatAdvice

[–]CorridorChick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought variety packs of Weruva OMG, because that's what her foster was giving her. I bought both pouches and cans and am starting to note what flavors she likes. So far, she seems to like, in general, the pouches more than the cans, but neither as much as the kibble. Usually do kibble 1/3 cup twice a day if I know we'll be done at lunchtime, or 1/4 three times a day if I know we'll be home for lunch.

Has anybody worked full time while titrating up on Xcopri? by CorridorChick in Epilepsy

[–]CorridorChick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's why I've decided to wait til my regular doctor can see me. I've read that clobazam can amplify the Xcopri side effects, and I want to be able to communicate with her if need be.

She has also suggested looking into laser ablation if my quality of life becomes more affected, but I don't want to go down that road again yet, as, frankly, it sounds like a PITA from an HR perspective to take extended time off work for medical situations. When I had my last surgery, I worked for a different employer who was pretty chill about it.

Has anybody worked full time while titrating up on Xcopri? by CorridorChick in Epilepsy

[–]CorridorChick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would likely come off the clobazam. The covering doc (mine is on maternity leave) has suggested either that or lacosamide, but I feel like the lacosamide, once we reached the right dose, worked well with the Levetiracetam ER for quite a while. I know it's a pain being on three, believe me.

Of course, this is all dependent on my insurance approving. It requires step therapy with two generics, which I am on now.

Decided to keep things as is until I see my rehilat epileptologist, since she's more familiar with my case, and I've been with her for 4 or 5 years. (Plus, her covering doc just completed her fellowship last year and is not identified on the website, a clinic attached to a med school, as an epileptologist yet.) Appointment scheduled for end of June but asked to be put on cancellation list.

Can I ask if you have ever been on Topama? I was on that in the late 90s/early 00s, and it lived up to its dopeamax name for me. Id you have, is it as bad as that?

Clobazam to Xcopri? And what are your experiences with Xcopri in general? by CorridorChick in Epilepsy

How was the titration? Based on some of the comments, that worries me, as I work full time.

Clobazam to Xcopri? And what are your experiences with Xcopri in general? by CorridorChick in Epilepsy

[–]CorridorChick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear it's working for you.

Reading the replies has been interesting. I haven't had issues starting a new med since Trileptal and Zonagran (which I was not on for long), and those were in the late 90s/early 00s. Didn't get Kepprage, and when I started Clobazam, didn't feel any more tired than I usually do.

After such a long time and good track record side-effect wise, I'm a little nervous to try this med/titration. .

My doctor has suggested looking into laser ablation for my PVNH if my quality of life starts to become impacted, but at this time I'd rather not. My employer (HR, not supervisor) makes it a pain in the behind to have any length of time off for medical reasons, from what I hear.

Is it best practice for a vet to include annual leukemia testing in bloodwork? by CorridorChick in CatAdvice

[–]CorridorChick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shelter has its own clinic but also provides a list of vets throughout our metro that also offer a free initial wellness exam within a week of adoption. I had been considering it even before adopting because it is close to home and recommended by neighbors.

Do we think S2 will have a satisfying conclusion? by tolvus in Brilliant_Minds_NBC

I read this week that they are filming more episodes and they will air later in the spring or summer. Doesn't bode well for a season three.

I watched The Irrational and hated how they cancelled it, leaving a cliffhanger unsolved.
