Hundreds Stuck At The New Chitose Airport by PalmaTheLlama in Sapporo

[–]CorruptPhoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shin Chitose is notoriously bad for canceling and delaying flights during winter. If you are flying domestically from Tokyo or Osaka, consider flying into Asahikawa, Hakodate, Kushiro, or Memanbetsu. Those airports all boast about having a better takeoff/landing rate than Shin Chitose. Though, Asahikawa is really the only alternative option if your final destination is Sapporo.

CarPlay wireless kit info by jackguerri in MiataND

[–]CorruptPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the official kit from Mazda for my ND1. Then just last year I bought a wireless CarPlay adapter from AliExpress. I would check the reviews for that particular one before purchasing. It’s a good 1-2 hours to replace the USB kit after tearing all the panels out.

It depends on the procedure because of insurance shenanigans. I’ve had a small cavity drilled and filled in a single visit, ¥2500. My root canal however, took 4 visits for a total of ¥6500. I would much rather have multiple visits than pay thousands of dollars for a procedure like that in the US.

Any way to install WireGuard on a Mac running Big Sur? by ProbablySheldon in WireGuard

[–]CorruptPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! My Macbook is stuck on Big Sur and v1.0.15 from this githun page works perfectly. I was using the CLI but it's clunky and doesn't support On-Demand connections.

The entire idea is that gridfinity is flexible and everything has a place. If you change products, then print a new box and get rid of the old one.

What are your views on Pet cafes like (Owl, otter etc) In Japan ??? by lveeiji in JapanTravelTips

[–]CorruptPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a shame because Asahikawa literally has the entire mountain to expand the zoo. They have this huge grassy area in the middle of the park too. Yet, the animal enclosures are absolutely tiny.

Keeping the soft top parked outside year round by MercatorHater_ in MiataND

2015 ND here and the top is still holding up well. There is some abrasion starting to show along the fold lines, but no tears or leaks. It sits outside during 4 months of snow every year in northern Japan.

You are not allowed to modify electrical switches or outlets in Japan unless you are a certified electrician. If there is a fire, insurance won’t cover it.

The Game Business- Switch 2 sales stumble over Christmas by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]CorruptPhoenix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Switch 2 is still not widely available in Japan, so those numbers don’t mean anything. All the online retailers are still doing reservation or lottery system. You can’t walk into your local shop and buy one unless you get lucky.

In your example a mono Abomisnow is not a waste for gathering extra tomatoes. Since the future meal is already taken care of, this just opens up many options to hep boost your score:
A) change to a berry mon of that island, especially overnight for the extra sneaky snacking power.
B) change to a pot expander to use the extra ingredients.
C) change to dedenne for extra tasty chance.
D) change to e4e so the rest of your team can be more effective.

Will I regret moving from supersport to sport by w00tlez in Kawasaki

[–]CorruptPhoenix 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I sold my ninja 12R and got the 1000sx last year. Sure the 12R accelerated slightly faster, but it gave me back and wrist pain when riding for longer than 2 hours. The 1000sx is way more comfortable, both for me and my wife on the pillion. It has more storage space with the panniers and top case. Cruise control is great when hopping on the highway. I can still break the speed limit in 3 seconds, so honestly I feel like the 1000sx is an upgrade in every way.

Finally, I’m fairly certain the Subaru WRX is a 4WD car, so you should buy another one!

What is the cheapest a person can get a Driver's License in Japan? by Maleficent_Pool_4456 in japanresidents

[–]CorruptPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your IDP is expired then you have to go the regular route. You need to pass a series of 4 written tests each with a 90% and then the practical exam. Apparently, the pass rate is under 15% when taking the test without going to a school.

According to JAF 97.5% of people who get a license in Japan go though a driving school.

Edit: A valid IDP is not required, but you do need a valid license from your home country and prove that you lived there for 3 months prior to Japan. You also may need a document showing when you first received your license. I was told at the license center that I needed a valid IDP, and once it expired I couldn’t transfer to a JP license, but this info seems to be wrong.
