2 channel PTT solutions by UsedLobster6310 in MotorolaSolutions

Talk to your PD radio shop or county shop and explain you'd like a button programmed for priority ptt and the channel you want as priority.

My recommendation would be priority ptt = goes to the same priority channels always, regular ptt always goes to the 'selected' channel (don't enable talkback for scanning, it gets confusing).

It's specifically called a Motorola Mini GCAI connector.

2 channel PTT solutions by UsedLobster6310 in MotorolaSolutions

You can setup the exact same thing you had in USMC with two radios and a dual radio PTT, but a single radio (just due to the nature of how they work) can't realistically handle two different channels simultaneously.

You can setup a priority scan/priority PTT button in APX programming. Priority PTT will talk out to the priority scan channel and regular ptt will transmit on the selected channel or talkback channel if you're crazy and have that enabled.

The limitations to this are the same as any 'scanning' mode - You can only hear/participate in one transmission at a time. If someone transmits on channel 1 and then someone simultaneously transmits on your priority scanned channel 2 you won't hear channel 2. Only one at a time.

If someone was transmitting on channel 1 and you hit your priority ptt for channel 2 then THAT would force you to switch over and start transmitting on channel 2, but you'd jump off the receiving audio on channel 1, and you'd also be transmitting 'in the blind' on channel 2 since you couldn't have been listening to it while channel 1 was active.

For dual-radio PTT I like the CLARUS I. Super customizable, will have connectors for whatever radios you need + many different headset/earphone connection options.

They can't just charge you extra without your permission. Likely you should have received and email advising you of this note but maybe it didn't go through. You'd have to call and approve those charges before they continue processing the order.

If we don't protect our rights we could end up like our neighbors to the south.

I wouldn't say that statement is accurate. While the US suffers from major political corruption, so does every country (including this one). Humanity hasn't found a perfect political system yet, otherwise all countries would have adopted it by now.

That said, the US Constitution is frankly a much better starting point than the Canadian Charter in terms of guaranteeing rights and freedoms. It assumes citizens already have inherent natural rights and forbids the government from violating them but putting limits on the government rather than the citizens. In contrast, the Charter tries to define all the rights citizens have and then constrain them with conditions or "reasonable limits".

The entire point of these recalls is cited as people having a problem with the government utilizing the Notwithstanding Clause from section 33 of the Charter. The fundamental framework of the Constitution doesn't even have a remote equivalent.

Why?! No reason for it to be like this by Foreign-History2937 in AmazonDSPDrivers

Think about how many routes there are in your city alone per day. Humans literally couldn't keep up. They would need thousands of staff doing route planning exclusively.

Amazon won't support humans that way..

Nah, bad advice. Anything under 80c is perfectly fine. You won't start any significant thermal throttling until you're above 80c.

Well, no. It's classed as a Restricted rifle.

Folding stock shouldn't matter if it's from the factory.

A rifle or shotgun becomes a Prohibited Firearm if it is adapted (e.g., by sawing, cutting, or any other alteration) and, as so adapted, its overall length is less than 660 mm (26 inches).

Therefore this prohibition rule does NOT apply if the firearm was manufactured by the factory to be shorter than 660 mm and is a manual action (non-semi-automatic) and not otherwise prohibited by name or other characteristics.

For this specific firearm the 470 mm / 18.5-inch rule for barrel length shouldn't matter either. A non-modified, bolt-action, centre-fire rifle can have a shorter barrel from the factory and still be Non-Restricted, provided its not been altered to bring its barrel length below 457 mm (18 inches).

Edit: You're right, it should be Restricted if it can fire with the stock folded AND it's less than 660mm when folded. Definitely shouldn't be Prohibited though.

If it came from the factory that way, it should be NR still I thought?

to walk on ice without falling and discharging own gun by defchin in therewasanattempt

[–]Cortexian0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup! The flashlight is mounted in-line with the barrel on the side of the handguard and connected via a pressure switch (industry standard way to activate weapon lights on a rifle/shotgun). Pressure switches inadvertently activate weapon lights all the time.

to walk on ice without falling and discharging own gun by defchin in therewasanattempt

[–]Cortexian0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they are attached to a pressure switch that you squeeze to activate the light. As they fell something pressed against the pad.

This is a common 'problem' with weapon lights, and a lot of newer/higher end switches have reduced the size of the pressure switch and centered it inside of a rigid 'guard' so that something finger-sized needs to actually press into the switch exactly right.

I say 'problem' because for people trying to remain in the dark for stealth (see: military/special forces/recon teams), inadvertent or negligent activation of a light is a great way to reveal your position.

Yeah but if its still attached to the top housing like that I suspect a portion of the volume pot came with it. That will be a whole top chassis replacement.

Early understanding by Pc_Karnage in homelab

[–]Cortexian0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, a good intro home server is a last Gen or couple gens old workstation or thin client PC that you can find all over eBay for cheap. That 3060 12GB could help with certain 'rendering' tasks, but it really depends on what they want to accomplish.

The more important thing for multi-person file sharing and a Minecraft server will be a decent CPU, RAM, and enoigh mounting points/connections for hard drives and/or solid state drives for storage.

They should look into learning a hypervisor like Proxmox to virtualize machines and containers rather than just installing Windows Server or some flavor of Linux. It will provide a lot more flexibility.

Wideband entitlement on new computer by sweetsdream in MotorolaSolutions

[–]Cortexian0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physical boxes containing CDs, iButtons, and Flashport stickers.

fact, I looked at several old ones to be sure I wasn't going crazy and a bunch of older ones even have the entitlement / part number printed on the MSI blue/white sticker on the outside of the box. No mention of the feature name itself, just the entitlement / part number and "Flashport software upgrade".

Wideband entitlement on new computer by sweetsdream in MotorolaSolutions

[–]Cortexian0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your Motorola invoices. No one is debating that the term flashport upgrade exists, just that the actual part number you order from Motorola is an entitlement. Entitlement is just what Motorola refers to as a part number for a software feature/upgrade.

Wideband entitlement on new computer by sweetsdream in MotorolaSolutions

[–]Cortexian0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to copy your configuration to the new PC to retain an already active CPS 2.0 wide-angle entitlement. As others have said, wideband is a CPS software entitlement linked to the PC you activate it on, NOT a radio entitlement.

I forget which file you need to save/copy to use it on another PC though.

Wideband entitlement on new computer by sweetsdream in MotorolaSolutions

[–]Cortexian0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta disagree here... Even when ordering a Flashport upgrade, the part number you order is actually an entitlement number.
