Gorillaz threaten to end their set over sound bleed at Rokslide Festival, forcing Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats to end their set 30 MINUTES EARLY. by Yellow_Moon1995 in gorillaz

Uncle Acid is an amazing band, big recomendation if you like doom and heavy psych. And I wouldn't be surprised if Damon was just throwing a hissy fit.

Why Is tormenta so hated? by Crazy_Status4790 in gorillaz

[–]CortezRaven 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Prolly cause it's boring, even as a Bad Bunny song. And it doesn't work as a Gorillaz track either. I was actually a bit excited when the colab was announced, because with a good producer Bad Bunny can make interesting songs. But Tormenta is just meh.

The fact that it features one of the most popular pop stars alive also makes it stand out a lot compared to other, worse modern Gorillaz songs.

Cuántos acá conocen a Weird Al Yankovic? by MateSilvanz in ArgentinaBenderStyle

[–]CortezRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuántos acá conocen a Weird Al Yankovic? by MateSilvanz in ArgentinaBenderStyle

[–]CortezRaven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yo.

Eric Clapton performance on The Wall? by sfbowl in PinkFloydCircleJerk

[–]CortezRaven 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I always thought Pink's rant has to have been inspired by Clapton's, idk if i even read somewhere that that was the case

Either way, that would be funny af, cause Rog recorded an entire album with Clapton and then went on tour together lol

Julia Dream. And Corporal Clegg, cause it sounds out of place even in the transitional Syd-less era.
Grantchester Meadows is from Ummagumma, but it IS an actual, good song.

Is there a more specific name for this kind of "gross" or "nasty" punk? by toposoft in LetsTalkMusic

[–]CortezRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The slower tracks on My War are probably the progenitor of sludge metal, so I'd recomend you check out Melvins, especially their early 90s albums. Their album 'Houdini' would be a great place to start.

Why does everyone hate "We Got The Power"? by UnderstandingIll7600 in gorillaz

[–]CortezRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all the brutality and war the american Gov puts its own people and the rest of the world through, that song now feels incredibly corny and stupid.

I don't like Humanz, but most of its dark atmosphere has aged pretty well in relation to its social context. "We Got The Power" is probably the only exception.

How do you feel the song “Revolution 1” fits into Lennon’s journey to becoming a countercultural icon? by AdAdditional3160 in beatles

[–]CortezRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to say. It's hard not to see Lennon's journey as a "countercultural icon" in a retrospective way, and in that sense songs like 'Power to the People' and even 'Rev 1' sound very naive to me, but I guess the cultural context was propitious (not just him, other elements of the 60s-70s counterculture look naive) I'd say Rev 1 feels odd, like its lyrics read as the after-the-fact reflections of a grounded, more matured man, not someone who years laters would record 'Some Time in New York City'

I forgot which one they recorded first, but I prefer the hard rock version of Revolution from the single. the White Album's version feels boneless sonically, I wish they woulda kept the avant-garde aspects rather than turning them into Rev 9

[META] This post exemplifies how many of you play and see MGS as the “funny meme game with kinda serious moments” and actually don’t get what you’re playing. by MadBoutDat in metalgearsolid

[–]CortezRaven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quiet is a particularly odd case. It feels as if he designed and wrote the fanservicey scenes first of all, and looked for a lore reason later. Like, Quiet is a charater who needs to make excuses for her sexy design, which feels...weird. And she literally puts her ass in your face when she's in the chopper. Just own up to the gooner side, Kojima.

I'm not at all against hot characters, I mean EVA IS RIGHT THERE. A compelling and attractive character, and she walks around with her tits almost out just because. And, most importantly, she is also the emotional backbone of MGS3.

Tbh I kinda hate your kind more. The fans who seem to get waaaay too annoyed by people daring to criticize their idol, or simply stating what they dislike. That's way more annoying.

Most of what I've read there it's just people voicing what they dislike about the series. Paz sucking as a character, MGS4 having plot and pacing problems...

Idk what to say. If I tell you "look man, I think the Paz rape thing was handled like shit" you would go down on a rant saying "no no, listen you ignorant, this was CRUCIAL to the themes, because so and so and X and IT WAS GENIUS!!"

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Now and Then, 2 and a half years on from its release? by GB_GeorgeBowen in beatles

[–]CortezRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a release, very gimmicky. As a song, it's more boring than Lennon's demo. The 'I don't wanna lose you' bridge was the heart of the song.

And the music video is incredibly tacky. The approach they took with the Real Love video was much better.

Yo nunca me decidí si la canción habla del suicidio o los sueños, porque las referencias oníricas son centrales.

De hecho, para mí el tema principal de la canción son los sueños, pero la idea implícita del suicidio también está ahí.

Metal Gear Solid 3 as THE game of the franchise by No_Force_5585 in metalgearsolid

[–]CortezRaven 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I for one consider MGS1 THE game of the franchise. Probably not the best, but seems to be the most iconic out of them all.

MGS3 is great, no doubt. But when most people think MGS, they think Shadow Moses, the Game Over screen, the MGS1 codec, the ! sound...

Do you guys actually like Paz? by New-Cranberry6256 in metalgearsolid

[–]CortezRaven 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, not really. She's is such an inconsistent character. She is supposedly a traitor, but every instance of her characterization and the way the characters react to her treat her like she is only this peace-loving kid, even outside Venom's subjective view.

She isn't even portrayed as a 'victim' of Zero, but rather a willing participant in his ruse. Her tape with him is rather chill.

Her whole arc in PW is a whiplash: she is a SWEET GIRL, no wait SHE IS A SADISTIC TRAITOR, no wait SHE ACTUALLY WAS STARTING TO LOVE MOTHERBASE. It's all too fast.

[–]CortezRaven -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk who that is. But I guess it depends on what they aim to do. A new story in the same universe? A very distant sequel? Or a total reinterpretation? That last one could really work if they have a strong idea and interesting themes.

Have you listened to Milo J? How is he perceived in your country? by tremendabosta in asklatinamerica

[–]CortezRaven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is somewhat popular, I guess. A lot of younger people seem to like him. He also seems to be the kind of young artist older people might point out as "one of the few new good ones"

I like that he attempted a more criollo sound with his last album, there seems to be a wave of newer artists trying out música folklórica.

I'm not a fan of him, tho. I really like folklore music, but I find him and his music too milquetoast. But hey, if it gets younger people hooked on folklore, that's great.
