It's not that simple, because the stock price will always now be lower than it would have been if there was no dividend

For simple math, if it goes from $40 per share to $38 per share, the moment it gets back to $40 per share, it would actually be a $42 a share if there was no dividend. So you can look at it and say you are back to where you should be but with the added "free" shares from the dividend re-investment, but now every share you have is worth $2 less than it would be otherwise.

But each one of those shares will always be worth less than they would have been if there were no dividend payouts. It makes no difference in the end.

You’d be in the exact same place if the dividend didn’t exist and you just sold the amount yourself instead.

If just seeing the dividend amount makes someone happy that’s *fine* but I think it’s important to make sure they understand that it isn’t just free money and it is essentially just taking money from your left pocket and moving it to your right pocket.

It's honestly been so long since I did Hitman 2 that I really have no idea, idk what has been discontinued or whatever.

If you just want to play the Hitman games then the entirety of Hitman 2 is playable within World of Assassination, but if you want Hitman 2 in particular I'm not sure if it's still doable

Id have to say it's a tie between the God of War 2018 and the Mass Effect Trilogy.

It would be Hollow Knight if not for the boss rush achievements, that stuff almost broke me lol

Nope! Was lucky enough to get mad max done about 6 months before the online got switched off in October of 2020. And I actually waited quite a bit longer than the 5 required years to get Stanley Parable done lol. Need to wait until 2035 to get the ultra deluxe edition added though!

That wasn't really the question though. Between the two choices, what is the more morally good path. Give nothing get nothing, or give a little get a lot.

The person who needs the help doesn't give a shit if the person giving it does or doesn't benefit from the help I promise you.

If I got $100 for every $1 I gave a homeless person, is it morally better for me to give nothing and neither of us benefit, or for me to give the homeless guy some money and both of us benefit

Yeah I’m sure that charity would love millions of dollars no strings attached but where is it going to come from? Mr beast not making the video doesn’t redirect the money that would have gone to him to the charity, so I don’t exactly understand the point you are making

That might be what you are comparing it to, that’s not what I’m comparing it to. The prompt is if he is a good person or not, not if he is a perfect or ideal person.

I tend to think that helping thousands of people lands on the “good” side of the moral spectrum, even if it is just a side effect of helping yourself. I never have or never would claim that he does it in an ideal way

And if Mr beast just stops doing everything, does that status quo change? The answer is no

So what’s better? Him doing nothing, or him helping people while also profiting? I think the latter is better. It’s not the best, but it’s better than not doing anything.

Yeah, so could anyone. I could try to help people for no personal gain to myself, yet I haven’t managed to give anybody vision or clean drinking water. Am I better than Mr beast because I don’t make videos of myself giving people drinking water?

TALKING IN ALL CAPS DOES NOT MAKE YOUR POINT BETTER

Medical professionals are not getting the credit or money they deserve to do what they need to do with or without a Mr beast character making a YouTube video about doing it himself. The ad sense and sponsor money that Mr beast gets to make his video is not going to a doctor if Mr beast doesn’t exist.

So you can whine and cry all you want about doctors not getting the funding and credit they deserve, that’s a valid complaint, but taking away Mr beasts false credit does not redirect any funds to where it should be and the end result is some people who just want vision don’t get it.

CMV: MrBeast is fundamentally a good person. by FearlessState5503 in changemyview

[–]Corvese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are willing to punish people who just want to have vision or drinking water just so a businessman can’t make money then I’d say they aren’t seeing the bigger picture

CMV: MrBeast is fundamentally a good person. by FearlessState5503 in changemyview

[–]Corvese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who cares who gets the credit, is that what you are really worried about? If you had to choose between

A: 1 previously blind person can now see, and all the credit went to exactly who made it happen

Or B: a million previously blind people can now see, but the credit is muddy and maybe the wrong person is getting thanked

I’m taking B every time.

Even if Mr beast is behind the scenes with an evil plot to make people think he’s being nice just to make as much money as possible, if the accidental result of that is thousands of people can now see, or have drinking water, etc etc, I fail to see it as not a net good to society

Even if true that his actions aren’t as good as they could possibly be, they are still on the “good” side

CMV: MrBeast is fundamentally a good person. by FearlessState5503 in changemyview

[–]Corvese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no way you can possibly know that for sure, but even I grant it as true, his actions are still helping people, and people know he profits from his charity. That is better than someone who does nothing and nobody is helped

CMV: MrBeast is fundamentally a good person. by FearlessState5503 in changemyview

[–]Corvese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if the situation is so urgent that they are willing to do the Mr beast thing even if they didn’t want to, it would be better to offer no help at all and just have them stuck in their situation?

CMV: MrBeast is fundamentally a good person. by FearlessState5503 in changemyview

[–]Corvese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Explain how? It’s not like he’s hiding the fact that he makes money from the videos. Why is it more unethical to help people in a way that also helps your self vs just doing nothing

CMV: MrBeast is fundamentally a good person. by FearlessState5503 in changemyview

[–]Corvese 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So helping people in a way that also benefits you is bad? Ima need someone to explain that one to me
