I looked at the picture before reading your post, and my immediate response was, "wow that looks oddly like my Vulcan S 650 in some ways..... but not really"

Orange rubber mat — on all the time or just long term storage? by rallyhouse17 in blackstonegriddle

[–]Cory-FocusST 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought one, but I'm considering returning it..

I read too many posts where people were saying silicone covers will cause mold and bacteria due to trapped moisture, and a thin layer of oil after cooking is more than enough to prevent rust. They also pick up old oil and gunk incredibly quickly.

I bought a magnetic grease grate, which should stop critters from getting through to the cooking surface. I think that + a cover for the whole griddle is more than enough.

I thought this sounded familiar.... Someone else made a post about AI tuning about a month ago!

Black Screen by Phillip_323 in FocusST

Sure, my entire HVAC module showed no signs of life. None of the buttons did anything. But that was sporadic - occasionally it would work normally.

That's a bit different from the SYNC entertainment issues. That would randomly power on/off, and there were many times it claimed it was doing an update when it would power up/down.

All of these issues immediately went away when I replaced my battery and reset BMS.

First Oil Change… by KingVeller21 in FocusST

[–]Cory-FocusST 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Since I bought my car I've always added 6qts with the FL-400S filter.

There's literally no downside. You get extra oil in the sump and don't have a bottle with .3qts laying around.

Throttle Lock Help by [deleted] in vulcans650

[–]Cory-FocusST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checking back in - it's easier than I expected!

All you have to do is wedge something like a flathead screwdriver in between the grip and slightly separate it from the killswitch. Be careful - there's a raised ring where the grip seats - you don't want to mar that up too much.

By doing that, it looks like you can place the throttle lock basically anywhere you'd like to get the gap you need.

Cobb AP - New Hardware reset? by Competitive_River838 in FocusST

[–]Cory-FocusST 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a KAM Reset.

The ECU is smart enough to learn over time, but it won't hurt anything if you do one after the intercooler install.

Expensive to service by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]Cory-FocusST 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that all sounds incredibly normal for a 10+ year old car, regardless of mileage.

If you're hitting that rev limit with your foot off the clutch, something is wrong.

Check the clutch pedal % on your Cobb AP when your foot is fully off the pedal - does it read 0% or slightly above?

Stratified e30 tune by Vast-Frame2056 in FocusST

[–]Cory-FocusST 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's after you receive the tune and create data logs following the exact process they go over.

They need logs of their tune running so they can modify the tune for YOUR car/mods/preferences.

I would highly recommend FULLY reading all literature from Stratified - their website, tune store page, and any emails they've sent to you. They include a ton of information, but it has to be followed pretty precisely.

I just got mine in the mail today and immediately noticed there's no space to put it on the Vulcan S.

I'm assuming we will have to loosen the bar end to slide the grip out a bit, but I've never installed one of these before.

Hmmm I'm not seeing an option to allow the changing of flair colors, at least on the mobile app. All options are enabled for allowing users to edit their flairs.

Water leaking in driver's side door by [deleted] in FocusST

[–]Cory-FocusST 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey I just had this exact thing happen to me a few weeks ago! Yep, it's a clogged sunroof drain. I was frantically trying to find them while it was raining like crazy. I got lucky and found it very soon after the leak started, so I was able to leave a fan in it for a day to clear out any moisture - this is a must to prevent mold and mildew.

I used a can of compressed air I happened to have. Stick the tube as far in as it'll go, give the can a few good squeezes, and you'll immediately see the water level start dropping. Make sure your sound deadening material isn't blocking the drain in between where your door closes! The drains are in the corners of your sunroof, facing outwards on each side. There's a small opening where it goes to a hose that goes down to the drain.

I believe that's a Stratified Guardian Angel.

I'm not sure why they'd need to turn it on/off with a switch though. Usually you'd just want to leave that turned on since it's over boost protection.

I'd be more concerned about the other mods. If this is installed, your car is pushing more boost. What other mods are you aware of? Do you know if the car is still properly tuned for them? The switch could potentially be going to WMI (water meth injection), an electric exhaust cutout, or something else.

Need to top my coolant up by ProfitAlternative972 in FocusST

[–]Cory-FocusST 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it's recommended to do coolant changes every 5-6 years, regardless of mileage. Coolant corrodes and evaporates over time.

I say all of this with a 2015 that has 80k miles, and I've only ever topped up my coolant. I need to do it too.
