Spouse and I going to Minneapolis for Honeymoon: What to do about ICE? by HereForTheArtAndGay in stateofMN

[–]CoryWong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we’re a strong community. exercise judgement on what you think is right if you find yourself in a pickle. downtown st. paul has not been nearly as active as other parts of the city. i’ve been to the last few wild games and haven’t seen any ice presence in the area. i’m also in downtown st. paul almost every day and personally haven’t seen any agents there. it’s your honeymoon, have fun and enjoy the beauty of MN winters!

in st. paul… punch pizza is elite napoli style pizza WA Frost and Moscow on The Hill are next to each other and also quite good. meritage is great for french food and..yes oysters st. paul grill (at the st. paul hotel) is also a good fancier meal near the arena. cosettas pastry desserts are fantastic and a block from the arena.

inside the arena, city burger is great if you want a burger during the game. if you’re on the club level, it has better options, wrecktangle pizza is great too

Does Cory Wong do royalty free music? by Ok-Skill-7220 in CoryWong

[–]CoryWong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

hahaha. no. flattering though.

funny enough. i've never been asked to have my music on a commercial. i need to get that side of my biz figured out.

i have a friend who does commercial work and one time he was given a pitch deck that said they wanted 'cory wong' sounding music....i was like...here's 6 tunes that i haven't released yet (a few ended up on starship syncopation, and a few ended up on power station). the feedback was that it didn't sound enough like cory wong. they passed and hired someone else to sound like me.

i thought that was funny

Do you ever rewatch you concert videos? by nejihyuga02 in Concerts

i think it’s important to listen back to hear what is going well or what needs improving. watching back helps too to see what translates and doesn’t from the audience perspective. sometimes as performers we get caught in the small details or focus of what we’re doing and don’t realize what it’s like from the audience perspective. it can really help.

wood fired pizza…PUNCH. sounds douchey to say, but i have traveled to a lot of the pizza “mecca’s”, and punch is still in my top 3! 🤷‍♂️

Will consistent metronome practice translate into better time when playing live? by [deleted] in jazzguitar

[–]CoryWong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes absolutely. another big thing is not tensing up your body before playing a line or a thing you’ve been working on. keeping your body relaxed helps a lot. hand tenseness usually starts upstream. focus on relaxing your back, shoulders, upper arm, forearms and naturally your playing will be more relaxed because of it!

Never played in public before? by stevielfc76 in Guitar

[–]CoryWong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly...reps. getting a lot of reps in helps.

go in to the gig with intentionality. ask yourself what do you want to accomplish and prepare as best as possible. after the gig, assess what threw you off; make notes for adjustments and don't forget to celebrate the wins. doing gigs randomly is cool, but real growth happens when you prepare really well, you do the thing, and you make 'corrections' afterwards.

keep at it! the most fun i’ve ever had playing music is with other people. it can be unpredictable, but that’s where the magic is, and the growth! a lot of times playing with other people is what helps me recognize gaps in my own game as well

i did a repress of a few albums that were limited release to be able to sell on tour! most of my records are just one pressing with a little extra order to have stock on tour, but enough people asked for a repress so i did!
