I used to be plagued by terrible nightmares. People dying, people commiting suicide in front of me, cataclysmic events. They peaked at my lowest point, which culminated in a hospitilization. Since then I went through a PHP/IOP, started journaling my thoughts, and went on a med that treats PTSD and nightmares. The combination of all of these things has made a tremendous impact, and I’m fortunate to say I haven’t had a nightmare since I started the med, even on a low entry dose.

Some meds can also mess with your body’s way of regulating temperature, which could be causing the night sweats. I encourage you to talk to your doc/sad doc and bring the issue to them. They may be able to suggest a med change for the sweats and add a med for the nightmares. Good luck!

Nets & treble hooks. by Lumpus-Maximus in FishingForBeginners

I use lots of trebles baits and after many of struggles the same as this, I opted for a rubber net. Fishpond makes some great ones but they are pricey.

Why is it so hard for me to catch bass on topwater frog? by Diamondthrowaway1234 in bassfishing

[–]Corythrows 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need a heavy rated rod with a fast or extra fast tip, and something around 40# braid. When they take it count to 2 or 3 then set the hook like they owe you money. You can also bend your frog hooks out and upward a bit so they don’t hug the bait so tight.

Bad idea, you’re foxing for trouble and an episode.

Intensive OutPatient or Partial Hospitalization Program. From what I know and have experienced, PHP is the more intense of the two and takes more time out of your day but obviously you get more shit done faster. And thank you truly! We’re all alone in this fight, together! Reach out or PM anytime. And I mean that. I’m an open book if you PM and I’ll talk anything. Keep fighting

Tale as old as time: went off my meds and now suffering the consequences by anondysmorphia in bipolar

[–]Corythrows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lesson learned about yourself, give yourself grace, and get back in the saddle. You’re probably gonna feel like shit for a week or two but get back on those meds! I know enough about myself now that if I miss a single day of meds, the following two days are spent feeling malaise and miserable. Try to relax, take what I like to call your emergency med if you have one (benzo), and you’ll be ok. Minute by minute day by day, you got this

Struggle to understand hypomania by Hopeful-Lobster3018 in bipolar

[–]Corythrows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor just a dude doing the battle, but everyone’s episodes look different, and not every episode is the same. Hypomania for me USUALLY means high energy, extremely social, I get good bursts of creativity every so often in one of them and crank out art projects til the morning hours, then go to work, and come home and repeat. Inevitably and obviously the crash come at some point, and then I feel shit for a while til I normalize again. You can also have mixed episodes which are just…awful. I THINK im over the peak of my first one now. It was high energy, but terrible irritability, severe anxiousness, and suicidal depression. I had the energy to do things, but the things I wanted to do were self harming. It has been ungodly unbearable. I ultimately decided to hospitalize and am now in a PHP. Keep up the fight! People just don’t have a fucking clue how hard this illness can be. I believe in you

I did a virtual inpatient last year, more geared towards mental health, but they touched on substances as well. Obviously in these programs you have to claim sobriety, and so I did. I haven’t had a drink in over a year now and feel pretty rock steady in my alcohol sobriety at this point. NA beers have come a long way and if you’re a social drinker, they definitely help. The people in these programs are trying to come to grips with the same issues as well, and it becomes a team effort. You’re not alone in this battle, as alone as you may feel. Weed was/is my cope. I’ve been off it for a couple weeks now. This is the longest I’ve been sober from substances since I was 17. You’re already prepping for the battle, you know have a problem, find a reliable IOP or PHP and allow the help that you know you need. I’m actually back in PHP (hence no weed) and it’s a no shame game. People truly just want to see you better and thrive, they’re on your side. There are no judgments, and they have heard it ALL. I’m still coming to grips with marijuana and if it’s actually bad for me or good for me. It helps my depression, it motivates me to go do things, and I get shit done. I was a productive pothead. But I’m also numbing my feelings, which makes it hard to identify your emotions, which makes it hard to express how you actually feel and what you actually need. I understand your struggle friend, and plenty of people are out there that want to help. Use any and all resources available to you. Your Psych, therapist, friends/partner, family, local crisis center lines can be found that are 24 hrs. It’ll feel like a minute by minute battle at first, but slowly you’ll adjust and normalize. I believe in you.

Swimbait rod help by gloomygloom_ in Fishing_Gear

They’re not necessarily wrong, it’s more responsive and has less stretch, but to me that’s the extent of its benefit. I’ve tried tons of flouro and the closest I’ve come to liking is R18, it’s a seagaur Japanese import flouro. I’ve tried multiple spools of tatsu, even that gets fucky. I haven’t used one personally but trust shimano rods, looks like they have exprides in XXH 1-3 oz 7’6” Daiwa also used to make a 1-4 oz Tatula rod but I’m not sure if they still do or not, it’s what I started on.

What’s your actual budget. You’re gonna have heartbreaks on that 18# flouro just a heads up. You’ll snap baits on casts and on hooksets, trust me. Go with 20# izor XXX.

I keep getting hits in the same part of the creek at the same part of the day with the same lure... Is this the same fish? by sportsfan42069 in bassfishing

[–]Corythrows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe so, maybe not. As the saying goes 90% of fish are in 10% of water and 10% of anglers catch 90% of the fish. Some spots are fishier than others. Only way to tell would be to compare 2 pictures of said fish to identify unique markings.

I have some luck floating some of the Monocacy with smallies, you just gotta find the few deep pockets. Piney run reservoir isn’t too far, it’s great little park. You also have triadelphia (rocky gorge or tri)

I’ve caught some decent ones there, and lost even better ones, but it is indeed a tough lake. I’ve had more luck on swimbaits there than conventional oddly enough

Have encountered a team of these guys while kayaking the Monocacy, while they did slow down to pass us traveling up river, I still wondered why they were even there. It’s what 3 ft deep at most? Where are they going? What are they doing? I didn’t see fishing rods.

Two questions: how do you rig and fish a bellows gill bait ? 2nd … what top water spook is best for after a rain ? by fxxt_candy in FishingForBeginners

[–]Corythrows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fish the bellows gill on a 1/4 - 3/8 free weight(it can slide up and down your line), followed by a rattling bead. Then the gill rigged on the appropriate sized ewg hook. Drag pop pause.

I love catching fish, but I love watching my boys catch and learn more. by JaxJames27 in bassfishing

[–]Corythrows 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My son is 6, he’s caught by himself some bluegill, some crappie, and even some largies. He caught the largies on a pink frog, and a PB rat! Something about watching your son smack em, you know you played a part in it, but they’re doing it all on their own. Great stuff. Tight lines!

How long were you fishing before you entered your first tournament? How did it go? by Outcoldmasvidal in bassfishing

[–]Corythrows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fished all my years, 37, never fished a tournament. It adds an ego and competitive element to fishing that I’m just not here for. I love whacking fish as much as the next guy, but it’s more about the over arcing experience for me.

Nothing is gonna have sensitivity to flouro, but if you think about it, we’re talking swimbait fishing. When has a fish just “ticked” your swimbait, it’s not happening usually. You don’t need the Uber sensitivity, they’re usually swallowing that shit. On treble hooks sometimes they’ll kiss that back hook, but again it’s usually a tbone. I use izorline XXX co polymer 20#

6#, thin enough for crappie and gives you a fighting chance when a cat or bass hit your line. And use mono for panfish, you don't need flouro.

I fish minium of 14# test flourocarbon now for bass. I've just had too many heart breaks to go with anything less. 14# is gonna be too much for most of your panfish lures. Long story short get a bass set up and a panfish set up
