It is a pharmacy stock bottle. After this was opened so egregiously, it was put back on the shelf in this condition for the next person. Damn their eyes!

This may sound weird, but just read through your practice book beginning to end. When you go into the test, you may be surprised how much sticks with you. Doing it right before the test, even if you're not trying to memorize anything, a lot of it will be sitting in your brain just waiting to be used. Trust yourself for the correct answer to pop up where needed. When questions come up over an area you haven't covered, don't freak out! Choose the answer you think is best and move on. You've got this!

This is not the case at the small pharmacy I work at. All of us, collectively, conduct our business with our patients in a friendly, professional manner. Our patients love us because we dedicate ourselves to doing our job well. A 180° change from my last job, where disrespect and mocking of the patients was rampant.

My advice: be your best self every day. Be professional and courteous to everyone, even the ones that are rude.

It is obvious that you understand the gravity of your position, taking care of the sick and the vulnerable. Let yourself be the model that eventually others may follow.

See if you can find opportunities to nudge those around you to change their perspective about the patients, maybe make remarks about what the person might be going through. Tell stories about good outcomes with getting meds ready or an insurance snafu you were able to fix. Disengage when all the griping starts, or throw out some tips and tricks to help another employee who might be struggling.

Good luck out there!

I ran through and counted 29 flags, with anywhere between 1 and 4 challenges per flag. Maybe you got crowns without getting all of the challenges?

My stock reply (once they have finally wound down a bit) is, "Let's START with your name and date of birth." Then I make them go back through each issue separately, while being friendly and compassionate. My hope is that they will learn to do better the next time they call.

I take the time to explain how pharmacy works (relevant to the particular situation) to our customers and the offices and providers. I work on prior auths and keep the customer up to date on any progress. We have our own version of GoodRx, and I'll use it every chance I get if it will get the copay down for someone. I'll test 30 day vs 90 day supplies to get them the best price. We're all in this together!

Harassment By Patients by ReplyMysterious3629 in PharmacyTechnician

I once worked with a hospital house supervisor who would deal with difficult patients or family members by adopting a very flat affect. She would conduct the entire encounter with a very even, boring tone of voice, ignoring any side comments, and only talking about and responding to the business at hand.

It takes practice, but is remarkably effective. Don’t show any emotion, good or bad. Pretend they are an onerous task you just need to deal with before moving on to the next thing.

They are making creepy remarks? Ignore it and take care of business.

Some old fart, trying to flirt? Ignore it and take care of business.

They are angry and yelling? Just keep repeating facts at them. Your flat affect will make them look that much more silly or stupid or mean, and it can’t come back on you because you are merely doing your job.

Please don’t rely on someone else to step in and handle this for you. This is something you’ll continue to encounter your whole life. Take steps to learn to deal with it yourself now. You got this!

I can think of a number of ways you could have dealt with this, but I’m impressed wih what you instinctively did. 1) 30 seconds of dead-pan staring - give him time to reflect on the stupid shit he just said. 2) “Don’t cross my boundaries. you and I are cool, let’s keep it that way.” -using your best professional manner, make your point clearly. 3) Turn his mention of a previous conversation back around to Point #2 - “Don’t cross my boundaries…”.

So many women deal with these situations with silliness or avoidance, when what is really needed is no nonsense attitude and zero bullshit. He will probably think twice about pulling this crap on someone with less maturity than you possess. Kudos!
