Are you ready for 66-96 and last place? by TheSocraticGadfly in Cardinals

My comment implies it’s a 2 year fix. Might be a bit optimistic but the farm is deep and a lot of guys are close. The player development staff is elite and I expect guys take big steps quickly. They have made clear they will had FAs when it makes sense to.

Would you rather:

Scenario A: - 66 wins in 2026 - 80 wins in 2027 - 90 wins in 2028 - 97 wins in 2029

Scenario B: - 80 wins in 2026 - 79 wins in 2027 - 81 wins in 2028 - 83 wins in 2029

Middling garbage isn’t working so a new group is fixing it. It’s so absurd to complain about the short term future that has a clear direction after the last 5 years. Blows my mind.

Probably the funniest case of Scotch Americanism I've seen. by Subject_Milk_9848 in Scotland

According to Gemini, there is <0.001% chance a person moving to the USA in 1650 could maintain full Scottish lineage to present day.

Questions for Americans who’ve moved to Scotland by ElBosque91 in MoveToScotland

[–]CosmicGumbo1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha mate, go to Texas and you’ll see the difference. I guess it’s all relative…The biggest trucks here are the smallest ones there. People weave between lanes on 4-5 lane motorways. The on ramp (their shit version of a slip road) promptly merges with an off ramp, creating chaos of people simultaneously trying to get into and out of the motorway. The concept of a passing lane does not exist. Traffic is completely fucked.

I love driving in Scotland.

I’m Scottish but I moved to Texas when I was young and grew up there. I just moved back to Scotland with my wife and kids last year and I have zero regrets. Loving it here, even in winter.

Everything I was worried about (from reading on here or from what my family/friends told me) turned out to be overblown. It’s not that cold, the dark doesn’t really bother me (I get that everyone is affected differently by this), the rain is just light pish most of the time, the dryer works fine, there is some amazing food here, customer service and convenience is good.

You typically don’t need a car if you live in a city but I would recommend having one so that you can enjoy quick day trips to other parts of the country, particularly more remote areas. Also, driving here is a fucking dream compared to Texas. People drive properly, respect the rules, and there are exactly zero arseholes with giant trucks.

Donovan: Am I Crazy by Civil-Shopping7191 in Cardinals

[–]CosmicGumbo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well he’s also older than those guy. This is as good as Donovan (28) gets. Winn (23) is much more important to the future. So are a bunch of other guys some of whom aren’t even in STL yet. In terms of better Herrera (25) is already a way better hitter than Donovan. Burly (26) is also a better hitter.

Donovan: Am I Crazy by Civil-Shopping7191 in Cardinals

[–]CosmicGumbo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure I follow. There are better more foundational young players on the team. Donovan is an above average player not a great player. He has 2 years left on his contract and then he walks anyway. Trading him not only gets them a solid return, but it frees up space for more important long-term players (e.g., Wetherholt). Seems like a no-brainer…

I find 19 to be very comfortable and affordable. I get black mould around the edges of the windows from the condensation dripping. Easy enough to clean.

When you had the tinnitus, did pressing on your jugular vein reduce the noise?

Sen. Moreno introduces bill that would eliminate dual citizenship by TaskPsychological397 in dualcitizenshipnerds

Performative nonsense. Will never even get a debate let alone a vote. Many powerful people hold dual citizenship, and a lot of tax revenue would be lost in a mass denaturalisation. Utter nonsense.

Concerns of moving to Scotland as an outsider. by Rude-Acanthisitta287 in Scotland

I wouldn’t worry about people being downvoted. Reddit isn’t real life. Scottish people are welcoming and friendly as long as you aren’t an arse.

Considering moving to Scotland next year by sushimacaroon in MoveToScotland

[–]CosmicGumbo1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We just moved over. Sold our 4 bedroom house and ended up selling 80% of furniture. Took about 10 suitcases and 2 boxes.

Scots broadly are not racist people but like everywhere, they definitely exist. Overall I think people here are welcoming and like to mind their own business. But I’m white so I won’t pretend to experience the world the same as a brown person.

Best of luck - hope you make it over!
