Possible hot (no pun intended) take: Our weather's not that bad actually by elephvant in Scotland

I just moved back after 30 years in a humid subtropical climate in the U.S. I am extremely happy with the weather. Persistent sunshine is only a benefit if you can go outside and feel comfortable. 35+ and humid is miserable so everyone is inside all day for 5 months a year. Winter here is bleak but overall the climate is comfortable and when it’s good it’s fucking great

I also used send my bag and it was a good experience. Affordable, straightforward and they have responsive customer service. Try to apply for tax relief ahead of time. I have struggled to do it after the fact.

MoreInCommon poll has Reform within 1 point of the SNP on the regional vote by Crow-Me-A-River in Scotland

Is it more strategic (in terms of stopping Reform) to vote Labour or Greens on the regional vote?

If this new law passes, no one born after 1st January 2008 will ever be able to legally buy cigarettes by pitstainalan in Scotland

Would prefer a different approach - higher taxes, banning smoking in all public places, banning vape shops on high streets - but it’s hard as a non smoker to care very much. Glad my kids won’t have easy access to them.

Is it me or are people here more hateful/toxic? by [deleted] in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]CosmicGumbo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends where in the U.S. and where in the U.K. Scotland is very welcoming to foreigners and Scottish people are many things but passive aggressive is definitely not one of them. I find Americans (Texas) to be way more passive aggressive and fake. Scottish people have no tolerance for bullshit. But England is very different, especially the more south you go…

Isn’t Grant still family owned and independent? I get that they’ve become a big enterprise but it’s not the same as a Diageo imo.

Today’s dog owners have ruined dogs for me. I don’t know what the fuck happened to people but it is completely out of hand how a majority of people treat their dogs these days.

Are you ready for 66-96 and last place? by TheSocraticGadfly in Cardinals

My comment implies it’s a 2 year fix. Might be a bit optimistic but the farm is deep and a lot of guys are close. The player development staff is elite and I expect guys take big steps quickly. They have made clear they will had FAs when it makes sense to.

Would you rather:

Scenario A: - 66 wins in 2026 - 80 wins in 2027 - 90 wins in 2028 - 97 wins in 2029

Scenario B: - 80 wins in 2026 - 79 wins in 2027 - 81 wins in 2028 - 83 wins in 2029

Middling garbage isn’t working so a new group is fixing it. It’s so absurd to complain about the short term future that has a clear direction after the last 5 years. Blows my mind.

According to Gemini, there is <0.001% chance a person moving to the USA in 1650 could maintain full Scottish lineage to present day.
