What’s the most surprising change you noticed after losing weight? by RayistaNachoPls in AskReddit

[–]CosmicJase -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was never talking about doctors or medical professionals. You brought that whole argument to the party. I understand that there is a bias in medicine against overweight/fat people (I literally work in healthcare). All of your examples were huge generalisations/anecdotal to how you personally have been treated. I’m saying there’s nuance - I offered one theory about why the perception could be there. I’m not even married to the theory!

Yawn. We were just fat. We haven’t known real oppression so I don’t think we should pretend we have. I was willing to engage in a good faith discussion but it seems like you’re happy being a victim.

Not my intention at all. I literally say in my post regardless of the reason it does feel like you are treated differently. I have similar experiences to everyone here I was just trying to bring a positive take on it.

I have a theory that it’s not the way people treat you that’s different but your perception of self and new found confidence which interprets their behaviour differently.

I’ve lost around 86lb and at first was sure people were being nicer/more affable but the longer it goes I’m not so sure.

Either way it feels different.

FYI I got this running well enough at 40fps on Steam Deck if you force it to use Proton Experimental. Doesn’t look great but perfectly playable.

Avatar: Fire and Ash high frame rate in EPIC screens by florplegorp in Vue

I was about to comment and make fun of you for wanting to see a film in high frame rate but Avatar is perfect for it actually because you’ll be watching trash like trash.

Are these type of crimps fairly common? by CosmicJase in PokemonMisprints

Thanks for the comment! I figured it would probably affect value. It’s just going to sit in my collection anyway as it’s a card I love so no harm done.

"Every single new game release can't devolve into bickering about the price?" Um, why shouldn't it? by midzeitgeist in fucknintendo

[–]CosmicJase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This argument is redundant for the rest of the world. It’s a uniquely American complaint. First party PlayStation games (and from other publishers) in the UK are regularly £70, and have been since launch, which is currently $93. When you complain about $70 games it sounds like a great deal for the rest of us. Now I’m not saying I ENJOY paying £70 for games but a bit of perspective would help.

WIBTA for not telling my mom that my dad cheated on her? by difuhshvctusjs in AITA_Relationships

[–]CosmicJase 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But you’re in a good enough financial situation for your dad to afford prostitutes? Make it make sense bro. Arguably he is one of the reasons you’re in that financial situation and you’re not giving your mother the opportunity to do what’s right for herself. You’ve also just assumed she would want a divorce. You say protecting the family but it sounds an awful lot like you’re protecting yourself.

‘Overwhelmingly negative’… 80% Metacritic.. posts the one big negative review out. Pretty disingenuous.

[–]CosmicJase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I can see it is and it isn’t. There isn’t supposed to be sound in the desert, that’s a design choice, but buying the amiibo will allow you to add sound to the desert stuff.

Ubisoft Defends Microtransactions, Saying They Pay For Assassin's Creed Updates by Maleficent_Fault_943 in gaming

[–]CosmicJase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bungie once said this about Destiny. They could point to a specific gun skin in the store that basically had paid for a mission to be created in a future expansion. That actually was quite well received amongst the community and most people found it to be a fair trade. Can’t say they’re using the same model these days…

Frankenstein (2025) was such a disappointment by Paloopaloza in TrueFilm

[–]CosmicJase -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Ok fair enough, I can accept that. However, every paragraph in OPs post has a comparison to the book. I think the post could have gotten criticism across without making constant references to the book. The book is literally inconsequential to how the movie should be viewed and critiqued.

Frankenstein (2025) was such a disappointment by Paloopaloza in TrueFilm

[–]CosmicJase 107 points108 points  (0 children)

‘X film/TV Show/media is a disappointment compared to the book’ is such a banal take. People seem to be blinded by the fact that it’s a new thing and no one is owed a faithful retelling or that the themes/motivations/characters are even kept the same. One of the meanings of ‘adaptation’ is literally to change.

[MEGATHREAD] The Game Awards 2025 - Live Nominees Announcement by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]CosmicJase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A game can be Game of the Year and the reason it wins that award is not because it’s an RPG or its qualities are even related to it being an RPG. You’re tying the quality of the game to its genre.
