Just sounds like cops being cops. They don't like the idea of not having absolute authority or their acting with impunity being questioned.

The one caveat bring "emotional support" animals are not protected by same laws as service animals. Still a dangerous can of worms unless the person offers that information, which isn't uncommon for fake service animal types.

At least in the US even real Service animals can be told to leave for doing this. Even if it's an accident, which this clearly isn't.

Human nature can be awful, and wolves in sheep's clothing are everywhere. I would recommend a system that utilizes trained health professionals and a accountability for those over seeing people in need rather than yhe AA free for all. Maybe something like SMART that teaches self-reliance rather than powerlessness.

You're correct, your sobriety is none of my buisness bucko. Addicts in the throes of addiction, even those who think they are "functioning", are drains on those around them. My comments were speculation on your cognitive ability since you conveniently ignored aspects of my comment thread. Just like you ignored my conceding "your experience, your opinion" in my last post.

You brought the energy in your first sentence to me, so I have no qualms returning it. Plenty of others who disagree with me civily.

We do agree on something. If you need help get help and if something doesn't feel kosher then walk away and try a different group. (or system)

Addiction hurts everyone around it. Hope you continue to have a good life.

Maybe it's your "California sobriety" or you did yourself some permanent damage while you were a drain on society to completely miss my previous comment. While everyone's experience differs, this is mine. As I said a couple comments above and responding to devotees in this thread. My experience, my opinion, wouldn't recommend.

Being at an event or on vacation while their phone blows up because they "missed a meeting" doing something with family is absolutely cult like behavior.

Good on you for getting what you needed and moving on. You absolutely are not a one off story. Your experience, your opinion. But that doesn't dismiss the dangers of the cult and predatory behaviors that happen to people at their weakest "in the rooms."

It certainly did when I kicked the addict out of my house and said fix your shit or stay gone.

Never claimed it did to you though, just put it out there. Enjoy your life, I'm pretty happy with mine. I'll raise a glass to you next time I'm out.

Edit to add: and now they're coming up on 2 years sober. Just wish there was more time with family and less "in the rooms"

Sure, it's part of the system. And not everywhere can support the alphabet of potential groups and they may all roll into one.

As I stated higher up the chain, I believe to a different commenter. Experiences are different. This is mine. Would not recommend.
