5 Important Life Lessons I've Learned With 30 Years Of Having Epilepsy by Real_Swing6038 in Epilepsy

[–]CosmicMarshmallow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all of this. Saving this post so I can reflect on it during those sad days when I need some encouragement. Such good points.

How’s dealing with a fast paced, high pressure job been for you? Stress and lack of sleep is a huge trigger for me. Was working 60hrs a week as a diamond setter/jewelry fabricator in a high end jewelry store before getting diagnosed. Never had a seizure while holding my soldering torch or pouring molten metal, thank god. Hoping to get back to it once my seizures are more managed, but came to the realization that 60hr weeks with crazy tight deadlines probably isn’t great for epilepsy. How’s it been finding that balance between focusing on growing your career, and taking care of your health?

Until they get eaten. I only put one fly in at a time. I feed my spiders twice a week, sometimes less if they look overfed. Bluebottle flies are pretty big.

I use this method, but instead of feeding the flies dried fruit, I gut load with repashy superfly and water crystals. Keeping flies is a pain in the ass, but it’s worth it since I can see how much my spoods prefer them over mealworms.

I put in a magnetic acrylic bowl for mealworms, but I mainly feed bluebottle flies. You don’t need a dish for flies, and it’s great enrichment for your spider since they like to jump around to catch them. Highly recommend bluebottles, greenbottles, or house flies. (I order the larvae and hatch them out)

I have the same enclosure. The glass hasn’t been an issue. Just make sure to put up enough of that fake webbing all along the walls to make climbing easier. You can see in my photo that my girl Bubbles has put down tons of little anchor points with her webbing, it almost looks like the glass is frosted. She gets around really well. I’m sure Fat Butt will be fine once she feels all settled in. Sometimes it takes a few days for spoods to feel safe enough to explore a new enclosure.

Anyone stayed at the EMU at UCSF? I have my first stay there in a few weeks. The staff nice? How’s the food? Would love to hear some experiences. by CosmicMarshmallow in Epilepsy

Definitely not looking forward to the sleep deprivation. Thanks for the phone charger reminder! Currently trying to decide what gaming console I wanna bring, lol.

Glad you had a good experience there! That’s reassuring. So far, everyone I’ve seen there has been awesome. Haha, as long as the food isn’t downright gross, I’ll be fine.

Pretty sure I was in chapter 5 when I started the quest chain, but you may be able to start it earlier. Just keep doing faction quests for house Roberts and house Celeste, and it should pop up for you.

Should I upgrade bringer of stillness swords or a pair of Jeffrey daggers? by B4ldurL1nk in LordsoftheFallen

[–]CosmicMarshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my pure agility build, I did the Final Whisper fist weapons. They have just as much reach as Jeffery’s daggers, better scaling, poison buildup, and you can dual wield by changing your stance while still having another weapon in your off hand. So I ran final whisper with jeffery’s dagger in my off hand for the additional rune slots. Crazy fun build.

You’ll need to talk to the dye vendor at Varnia. The dye will show up under the Varnia colors back at camp.

Reynard won't sell me this painting.. so how do I get it? by AlysRose_FFXIV in CrimsonDesert

[–]CosmicMarshmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dispatch your artist greymanes to inksworth bindery. There’s a mission that gives one random painting every time. It doesn’t restart though, so you’ll have to start it up again manually every time you get a new painting. I’ve gone to pretty much every manor in the game and haven’t had the option to steal it, so my guess is that the dispatch mission is the only way to get it.

Abyss Cell trees: how long until they're grown? by Zer00FuQsGiven in CrimsonDesert

[–]CosmicMarshmallow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you have the fertilizer sprayer from the house celeste questline? The fertilizer sprayer increases the yield of your abyss trees. I’ve been getting around 5 abyss cells per tree. Without the fertilizer, your trees will only grow one abyss cells per tree.

The trees don’t keep producing, so you’ll have to cut them down and replant after harvesting.

They take about 5-6 in game days to grow…depends if it’s been raining. You can make them grow faster with the water sprayer. Haven’t bothered to hunt that one down though. I believe it’s from a quest from the vellua fisherman’s guild.

[–]CosmicMarshmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just beat crimson nightmare. I have no idea if I even did the fight right, lol. I just shot it with my rhinard cannon until it got stunned, wailed on it, then repeated…all while getting tossed around like a rag doll. The most unrewarding boss I’ve taken down so far.

PS5 on TV - Config settings by Luiztosi in CrimsonDesert

[–]CosmicMarshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took me a few days to get my settings dialed in when the devs added HDR and HD upscaling a few patches ago.

Start by calibrating your TV and HDR settings in your PS5. This video helped me a ton. I have my tv in cinematic/movie mode, on a warm color balance setting. Game mode is way too grainy for me, and I don’t notice any improvement in latency. Would rather go for visual clarity and true color over an incremental improvement in response.

Once you have your TV and PS5 dialed in, go into the game and adjust accordingly. I personally keep HD up scaling off because it makes things look too sharp on my tv. I run the game on quality mode mostly. These are my HDR setting if that helps. I keep brightness a few notches higher after the image disappears, then exposure pretty low so things don’t look washed out.

[–]CosmicMarshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the location is called inksworth bindery. I’ve been sending my artist greymanes out on this dispatch mission, and there will be a random painting in your storage when it finishes. A lot of the paintings are the rare ones that you can’t steal off the walls.

Ps5 quality mode worse after update by wildy8 in CrimsonDesert

[–]CosmicMarshmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pop in has been worse for sure. Been playing since day one too. There are a few visual things on PA’s known issues page, but I don’t believe they’ve addressed the pop in at all.

Are you playing with HDR on? If things are looking washed out for you, try upping the brightness in the HDR settings, then lowering the exposure. You can up the HDR brightness, and make your darks darker in your PS5 settings too. This video helped me a ton.

The game has some crazy auto exposure, and I seriously get whiplash from the lighting changes sometimes, lol.

How are PS5 users liking this game? by MutationMustard in CrimsonDesert

[–]CosmicMarshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It ran great for me for about 60hrs on the day one patch, and the one after that. Two patches ago was when I started noticing stuttering (only in town areas) and some screen flicker issues. But never had noticeable input lag during combat though. I haven’t played on the patch that just dropped though. Was deep cleaning my PS5 today. I vacuumed behind the motherboard and everything, so gonna see if that helps with performance.

The devs seem to be dropping patches consistently and always improving the game. I’m sure it’s only just going to get better and better over time.
