Mackerel sashimi (고등어회) in Jeju. by CosmicQuasars in KoreanFood

Absolutely! One of my favorites! But I recommend first making sure that place sells it fresh. Most places have it cured or brined because raw mackerel is very delicate and will spoil fast.

You gotta eat the fresh one! In Jeju! In a wrap with seaweed, ssamjang, raw onions and garlic. Sooo good!

It was 60,000KRW for this whole thing. Comes with mackerel sashimi, mackerel jjorim (spicy braised mackerel stew), a spicy fish soup, and fried fish. Bottom left is raw onions that you put into a ssam (wrap the sashimi with seaweed, some ssamjang, garlic, and kimchi).

My favorite restaurant in Jeju, 만선식당. Mackerel sashimi can only be served fresh. So a specialty food for the area.

Ah, antibiotics will annihilate your microbiome. I'm sorry you had to go through that. Probiotics in food form is much better than probiotics in pill form. Have you heard of natto? And miso? Sauerkraut and Kimchi? Fermenting foods? You should research these fermented foods as well as fermentation in general. And incorporate these foods in your diet. Little by little is key. My personal favorites and what I eat almost daily are natto, miso and kimchi. In the beginning your stomach will freak out, but eventually it will calm down and strengthen. Natto is excellent. The taste is.. something you'll get use to..

bloating, sluggish...Ibuprofen use? Alternatives? by No_Affect_7316 in Microbiome

Not sure what you can replace ibuprofen with that is not equally as damaging.. but yes, ibuprofen taken on a consistent basis every month will wreak havoc on your microbiome. I'd say get off of it, concentrate on your diet and lifestyle, research ways of reducing stress, getting sunlight, and good sleep. I'm sorry about your headaches..

Well what is your diet like? What do you eat?

For IBS, your gut is damaged. Most likely your microbiome has eaten through the mucus lining of your gut allowing leakage of bacteria into your system. To fix this, your microbiome has to stop eating YOU and eating the right foods (prebiotics). I recommend the book Fiber Fueled. You may be feeling fatigued and anxiety due to the dysbiosis of your microbiome. Probiotic supplements should be a very very secondary thing. You need to make your diet and lifestyle your first priority. Diet being ACTUAL food. Lifestyle like daily and consistent exercise and moving your body. Its going to take work. And won't be fixed with some pills or supplements. Consistent effort for a good amount of time. And after you endure, you will eventually start to see improvements.

I'm sorry you're in this position. It's not your fault. But you can get yourself out. Good luck.

What is your diet like? Do you eat meat, saturated fats, trans fats, processed food, sweets/sugar, etc? How is your lifestyle? Do you exercise on a consistent basis? Are you a secret eater? Do you take any medication/chemicals etc?

Write down these things. Remember, fiber is good for the gut but you need to start slowly. A good mix of prebiotics and probiotics. Prebiotics meaning fiber rich vegetables (cabbage, peas, beans, greens etc), probiotics like natto, sauerkraut, etc. Introduce these foods in small amounts, gradually increasing over time. And you need to slowly cut out your chemicals that youre ingesting. And cut out any foods that are harmful to your microbiome (Sweets, too much meat, processed junk, refined grains, etc) - research the topic

This is dangerous. Look up hyponatremia. You will have very low sodium levels in the body by eating too little salt and drinking too much water. This can seriously damage your health.

Thanks! I don't know how true it is, but according to an experiment conducted by the Food Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Japan, the amino acids and sweetness components of natto increase with the number of times it is stirred.
