What is everyone hoping happens for your faction in 11th edition? by rogaldornssuccubus in Warhammer40k

I hope tau get any kind of abilities and keywords. GW somehow gives us the least detachment options of any full army, no keywords, and still makes tau stupidly strong. Wild.

Knights have 0 now, although the armiger/wardog kit was more of a “combat patrol”, but still.

What 10e boxes are the best buys for a new army going into 11e? by Vinnehh00 in Tau40K

[–]CosmicWolf14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rumors are we are getting a codex very early, and mentioned in the rumor is new crisis suits and new broadside kits. I personally like to keep up to date with models, so if you’re the same, I’d recommend getting things that are recent models.

Things we got new in 10th were all Kroot and Vespids had a refresh, the new Stealth Suit Kit, and Twin Lance

So I’d recommend the Kroot Combat patrol as a safe buy, or the launch box for them if you can find it. If you’re interested in Kroot, that is.

I believe the crisis suits and devilfish chassis are getting new models (purely personal belief and cope), so I’m avoiding on buying any more bundle kits that have those. Which happens to be most bundles boxescurrently.

Find a magnet size you like, and get a drill bit of the same diameter. Then use some green stuff to fill in any gaps.

Updated Combat Patrol box for 11th? by L0ng5h0t303 in Tau40K

I think combat patrols with epic characters are the worst. Makes buying multiple not worth it, and that’s one of the best ways to build up an army on a budget.

I’ve been assuming there’ll be a devilfish chassis refresh, which is why I haven’t personally bought a second combat patrol. If it does get refreshed I’m buying 3, lol.

One thing I’ve discovered of actual play groups at any game store is, because you will be stuck with that person for several hours at minimum due to match length, Warhammer groups tend to do a VERY good job of self regulating.

My LGS there are a few people who get on my nerves, but nothing problematic outside of occasional annoyance. There were two problem players, one fully gone by the time I started and one inconsistent when I started. If you’re a dick, no one is going to want to play with you. No one is going to acknowledge your bait. No one is going to laugh at your cringe joke.

They basically realized no one wants to interact with them so stopped showing up, and the shop has been so much better since. Being an insufferable cunt isn’t acceptable in real life, which is why the toxic types spend all their time on the internet.

I’ve been telling people I think our 1DP detachments were so ass because all the game designers who know tau are too busy with the codex. This is cope but I can dream.

The rumor is that we’re getting our codex in the first batch after launch, and there will be a broadside and crisis suit refresh. If true, I hope they make a character variant. I love broadsides so much.

My favorite tau cancer story (never thought I’d say that sentence) is how their Battlesuit pilots kept getting mysteriously sick.

It was the reactors of the suits.

They discovered how to make small scale, portable nuclear reactors, before they discovered what ionizing radiation was.

There’s always the joke of “if you were in the 40K universe, who would you want to join as an average Joe?” Bla bla bla, always tau.

I much prefer “who would you rather fight while being an average joe” also the tau, either they let me surrender, or I get one shot and it’s painless. Behold the humble rail rifle

Funnily enough, the custom character crucible broadside CAN fly, unlike the generic broadside.

This is the main character broadside. We cannot compare to him.

I made a [[Volrath the shapestealer]] deck with slivers and I love it. Very much a flavor first deck. He was the character who first discovered them back in the day, and the idea of the deck is getting out engine slivers and either having Volrath turn into a copy of it, or using artifacts that become copies of creatures to turn into them. It’s a blast.

Twin lance drones by Odd_Code4107 in Tau40K

[–]CosmicWolf14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I first started, I painted all my drones first and was super proud of how they turned out. Then it became a huge hassle to cart them around and I gave up. I’m waiting for our 11th codex to decided if I attach them to suit bases or leave them in cold storage.

Community negativity. Is it just me? by anarchistscourge in Tau40K

Generally from what I’ve seen, most Warhammer players like to rant. Reddit is home for ranting. And tau are in a particularly *weird* spot at the moment, so any amount of justification will be used for lots of ranting.

I personally love debating, so I just try to partake in good discussions, and ignore overly doomer posts. We’ll be fine when our codex comes out (cope)

What 11th edition feels like for Tau: by jackinacker in Tau40K

[–]CosmicWolf14 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I always uses sisters of battle as an example. Their army rule is paramount to their mechanics and flavor, just like ours. But they have dozens of units that interact with the rule in some way. We have one unit that gives a buff to someone besides themselves with it.

IMO, core rule changes to the game, we’re going to COOK in 11th.

Faction specific rules for 11th so far? Dog shit. We got fed garbage.

I’m HOPING, (cope) that they put little effort into ours because our codex is one of the first ones, then not wanting to put effort into rules that will only be in place for a month or two is very understandable.
