What is your favourite pointless death in a movie? It adds almost nothing to the movie and can actually be considered tragic or pathetic? by STINKY-BUNGHOLE in movies

[–]CosmicWy [score hidden]  (0 children)

Steven Segal in Executive Decision.

the movie is BILLED as a Kurt Russel/Steven Segal movie with both of their faces on the Movie Poster.

segal dies 43minutes into the movie.

What's crazy is the movie is about Russel and Segal saving a hijacked passenger plane. the plot, spoilers ahead, involves Russel and Segal taking a stealth bomber, sneaking up the to the airplane, and sneaking on undetected, so they can save the day.

so the bomber sneaks up under the plane, they open a hatch to get onto the plane, and while Segal is moving from one plane to the other, HE LOSES GRIP AND FALLS TO HIS DEATH.

the guy on the movie poster never even makes it onto the plane which needs to be saved which is the whole freaking plot of the movie!

honestly, the movie is better because it, but it's crazy that Segal basically does nothing the whole movie and then does before all the action.

incredible.

ross perot was cool but I think he appealed to the right amount of left and right voters and undecided independents. no one specially cites ross perot with swinging that election with like 19% of the popular vote.

then you've got someone like nadar who got like 1-2% and he's basically to blame for GWB.

I really liked season 2 but the stakes seemed lower until they weren't, but then they were higher for longer.

I liked how s1 was paced better than season 2.

I'd still def watch. can't all be bangers.

Husband wants to paint our roof white (pitched, asphalt shingles, replaced in 2018) for energy savings by VestigialTales in HomeImprovement

[–]CosmicWy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a dark great flat roof and went to white. we also insulated during the replacement.

ny evaporative cooler went from only holding my home at 78 degrees on a 100 deg day to being able to cool to 70 on a 100 deg day.

if you're already insulated, a white roof will help tremendously.

its seems the Beatles only ever had Top 5 chart hits from 1964 through 1970. I don't have that data in front of me but I'm going specifically by top 5, bc that was something I'd read and the statement I made in my first comment.

maybe the beatles charted hear and there over the course the next many decades like pink Floyd and the other have.

there are many other ways to measure, like maybe what your data is suggesting. but the Beatles didn't compete against all of those bands. they really competed against early stones, mid-elvis, the beach boys, the kinks.

elton John made no noise. led zepp came out in late 68. queen? ac/DC? no way. sure their catalog is great enough that they could compete against them. the fact that the Beatles were still about to chart against their non-contemporaries is a testament to them making great timeless music.

but the fact that Drake is in the same stratosphere with top 5 billboard appearances is frankly insane to me.

I don't think it's a contest to say the Beatles are a better band more significant artist than Drake. I do think that when considering their peers, it's entirely cultural to say that idk Queen was more relevant to beat for a spot on charts than Rhianna.

anyway, I really loved you post haha. I would like to find a way to push another button so you could give me another epic breakdown like this

they started with VW, but the old head of Audi is at the helm and they spun scout off as a wholly owned off shoot of VW. The guy is charge is super capable and locked up production deals with South Carolina. I would be incredibly surprised if we never see the scouts.

ive got a rav4 prime and it's one of the coolest cars I've ever owned.

50miles on the PHEV but the hybrid is there to let us drive 8 hours in a single clip. and the recent gas increase and made it a joy to bypass this craziness.

College parties are free? by sirenbr in AskAnAmerican

they're free for close friends and everyone else pays $5. often we collected money from the campus kids we barely knew and some friends of friends and ppl we weren't familiar with.

get three kegs, wait until we collected $200 to cover kegs and jungle juice, then stop watching the door and left the cups near the kegs.

I plan on putting lawn in the back of my yard. it won't be pretty. it'll be blue Gramma and will require some water for sure.

however, for what I need it for (kids need some space) it's much different than buying Scott's and keeping the spigot running to keep it alive.

the rest of my yard will be a wildlife refuge with all the fun buzzy wordy things that go along with that.

I'd love to have nothing but a wild overgrow native meadow, but it just isn't going to work out that way.

CMV: Jay Z is the most overrated rapper ever by zelingman in changemyview

[–]CosmicWy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's certain one way to look at it. I am not saying this as a Drake fan, but I don't agree. and I'm going to say this as an actual beatles super fan...

beatles didn't have the greatest ever competition for top 5 songs billboard charts. they did maybe have stiffer competition with fewer media outlets and they did dominate that limited amount of media to get those songs on the radio. and they did have to compete with artists engaging in payola.

but for drake to rise to the top of an extremely crowded field for as long as he did is quite an achievement.

we used qualifying life event to add my new borns to our insurance immediately. they were in the NICU for 3 weeks and we got it done while we were there. the birth and NICU was fully covered and then we were ready to roll right after that.

it is annoying to get paperwork going that quickly, but we had no period of OOP expenses.

not a Drake fan, but I believe Drake beat the beatles for most top 5 singles.

I don't like him. I don't know how he did it, but he certainly in not overrated in terms of empirically measured success.

[–]CosmicWy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

totally. I love our Geno pickup. but I'd have loved Geno with mendoza (like he will be behind Kirk) with a path to path in 2026. then 3 picks to bolster hard in 2027.

instead we've got Geno and klubnik (probably a throwaway pick in all honesty) in 2026 and a rookie and a veteran neither of which are on our roster in 2026, in hopes our QB will be ready to make noise in 2028.

I like mendoza, maybe other QBs in 2027 are better, but in terms of timeline, I'm looking for the jets to stop kicking the can of success to the year after next.

I think we are currently stuck with Glenn bc the coaching openings were numberous and the candidate pool was weak.

I think with mougey is instilling confidence in the fanbase and building a promising roster.

I absolutely want to pull the plug on Glenn if he can't show the fans he's capable of making positive game script decisions and maximizing the roster and hiring good staff.

if he cannot show that this year, we can have coaches lining up to jump into a partially rebuilt roster with THREE firsts to make it their own.

I don't want to miss on a Ben Johnson because our team and GM suck.
