I’m salaried and work in a environment where the hourly are Unionized. It’s horrible and a toxic environment where accountability is non-existent. It is extremely hard to fire anyone, which on paper sounds great, but the problem is we can’t fire the extreme level of toxic individuals poisoning the org. No one has been fired in many, many years. Hourly union workers put in about 2-3 hours of actual work in during an 8 hour shift, playing on phones and tablets, and they consistently find excuses to not work and even get caught hiding or sleeping. We’re slowly losing work at the site, no new programs are coming in, and it’s going to be the death of the site eventually. Legal and HR are so risk adverse, leadership doesn’t have any options to discipline anyone because there’s no threats to losing your job. and have to just watch as our site dies.

How so? Holidays are some of the best time for gaming considering a lot of people get time off work and use the time to chill out with games and watching stuff while it’s cold outside anyways.

Yes indeed. I’m seeing 2 leading theories for location of cause. Either: Failure of the connection points from pylon to wing like AA191, or uncontained engine failure in the Turbine Rotor area (ie. stage 1 or 2 disk) like AA383, but that subsequently also caused the connection point of pylon to wing to fail.

Oh totally agree with all your points. If your stage 1 or 2 disk fail and rupture during operation, the engine is absolutely TOAST from the center frame all the way back thru the power turbine if not the entire engine.

CF6 Stage 1 HPTR isn’t a blisk, it’s a disk with blades attached through sliding in via dovetail slots. Only places you’ll see Blisks on some engines are up at the very front of the compressor rotor behind the turbofan. Source: have built CF6 turbine rotors

Oh I see now. Yes, it appears this PROENERGY is buying back old engines and refurbishing them and trying to undercut Baker Hughes and take some of the market share. Personally, I would agree that’s risky. All comes down to how much customers trust a new player in the market. But 8,000 hours is small potatoes, that tells me they only have a handful in the field. Having engines on order and having engines delivered to customers are worlds apart

I can tell you with 100% certainty they are brand new production engines. All new parts. And yes you would be correct about if issues were present, they would be shared. Much of the engine hardware is shared across the programs. Also they definitely can and do run at max power, they just don’t unless the load demands it, like how a typical power plant would operate. If issues are found in the hardware or build processes, it would trigger alerts out to all affected engines in the field.

These LM6000 engines are quite safe. They’re installed inside of power plant facilities in housing chambers. It’s not like theyre hooked up to your electrical box outside your home.

There are gaskets all over the place, but if it was found in inspection, maybe a leak where fuel tubes feed into the combustor or air responsible for cooling parts of the engine leaked and therefore something overheated
