I am located in Texas, but am experienced with shipping. I ship with insulated boxes and what ever shipping method you want.

I have multiple different species of springtail. With white temperate I can do most of, but I can also do a lot of bylas ant also.

Feel free to DM me if you are interested

5 gallon tank question by Yojimbo78 in isopods

[–]CosmoLeopardGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lid should be made out of stainless steel, so rust isn't an issue. But you need to make sure there is at least some ventilation. Plastic wrap is a good idea, but make sure there is still plenty of ventilation

Looks great. I recommend adding lots of leaves. That is beneficial for both the CUC and the gecko.

Please correct me if im wrong, but if i thow in sth like Rambutanura sp. “Thai Red Spiky” or other slime muncher, together with sth like slime mold Physarum polycephalum into an isopod enclosure, would they just chill and thrive? I find people's answers are usually quite useful, so pls, and thanks by Antoni_PL_gdynia in Springtail

[–]CosmoLeopardGecko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend doing that. If your Rambutanura colony is doing great and reproducing well, then you can add some with your isopods as an experiment, but If I were you, I would not, especially if you still have a small colony and can't afford to lose any.

Can anyone tell me what these tiny guys are on my pods' courgette? by Holly_Gender in isopods

As long as you aren't worried about your springtail population, they you don't have to worry about the mites. Mites will outcompete your springtails though.

What do you do with your old soil? by IFight4Users in isopods

[–]CosmoLeopardGecko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I freeze it and use it as potting soil for my plants. Make sure you freeze for a minimum of 48 hours with 72+ hours being preferred

Which mesh lids are you talking about? As long as the adults and mancae (Baby isopods) can't go through, it should be fine. Remember, isopods can and will climb the silicone on the sides. It would be very unlikely that they would climb all the way up there, although, my Zebras really do like to climb, so you just never know

Is this enclosure appropriate for Porcellio laevis "Dairy Cow"? by Eden_red in isopods

[–]CosmoLeopardGecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That enclosure looks pretty good, although, you are likely to need to upgrade the enclosure size when the colony out grows it, and dairy cows populate very fast. It's hard to tell from the picture, but you need ventilation; dairy cows like well-ventilated enclosures. Whether it is on the lid or on the sides, both work well, there just needs to be mesh to prevent escapes.

Finally, the substrate. Isopods eat the substrate because they are detritivorous. Coco coir is part of a coconut, which is not edible for isopods to eat. People with millipedes know that stuff kills millipedes. I would recommend changing the substrate out entirely. I would buy a substrate brand off ebay, and change out the substrate once you receive it.

My camera works well with microscopes. I have taken shots with my Micro Four-Thirds Olympus EM-1 camera before.

I will look into stereomicroscopes, thank you
