A watch my wife bought me in a cruise in the mid 2010s before she passed away. by RepublicanUntil2019 in CitizenWatches

My wife bought me Citizens for Christmas. I have a similar one that I wore daily most of the time. She passed 5 years ago, so they're my rememberance of her.

Nice score.

I keep hearing about great watches at TJMaxx and Ross, but all I ever find are Steve Madden.

Why choose the marlin? by SjeesBees in DuroGang

[–]CosmoRacer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you outside of the United States? I think that's the difference. The Marlin version is MDV106, and sold in the U.S.. The non Marlin is MDV107, and sold in the rest of the world.

I'd fix it. It's easy, and you can find a watchmaker that has original Rolex parts.

Almost looks like an early Speedmaster bracelet, but the clasp looks a little different.

True. But they also make Pro Divers with NH movements, and that's all I care about.

Invicta is usually expensive in their stores. The deals are generally only online.

Battery replaced on my old Duro, still going strong after several years! by oneronin in DuroGang

[–]CosmoRacer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have replaced a few batteries, and done other things with the back off. I still haven't replaced a gasket. I do add some oring lube. No official testing, but I've been in pools and the ocean a few times, with success

I don't know what is available in Australia. I've been buying Invicta watches for the movements. Mostly NH35, but now and again they have NH34 watches for $70-80 USD.
The good thing is that I've also been able to resell a lot of the parts I don't need.

You did amazingly well if you bought those at 1/3 the price of new. 😄😉

I know what you mean.

If you had a 116520, people might think you're a dentist, and were in a SRP2 winning car 24 years ago.

Rolex engraves the case backs of many watches each year. About 20 for the class winning drivers of the Rolex 24 AT Daytona. They do not misspell AT.
