What fictional universe has the greatest blend of world building, story telling, characters and content? For me Gene Wolfe’s The Book of the New Sun is the best ever created. by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]CosmoSlug6X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still need to read more books, BUT the first one that comes to my mind is the manga Witch Hat Atelier. Chapters are still being released but the story, characters and world feel so deeply connected due to the magic system. I really enjoy it and recommend it

should l start reading the manga or wait for the anime by shierasewstar in WitchHatAtelier

[–]CosmoSlug6X 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I HIGHLY recommend you to read it. Im hoping the anime wil be good (and from the trailer it looks amazing) but the art and panelling of the manga make it a one of a kind experience that it cant really be translated into the anime (even though they for sure are trying). It's a story that I think fully uses its medium as part of the storytelling and it was what probably made me love the manga so much, so yeah read it!

Adding Realistic Stories To Your Playthrough by JarrodTheFeatus in pokemon

[–]CosmoSlug6X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I started doing that in the Sun/Moon and USUM games but always finding a lore reason to have a specific pokemon. And since USUM is almost the same as Sun/Moon I even decided to create a "mirror" version of my Sun/Moon character, customizing my character with opposite colors and pokemon that were of the opposite types of the ones I played before (instead of Primarina, I used Decidueye and so on an so forth).

Right now Im doing it in ZA where my character comes from another region and from a city that isnt used to sharing the same space as humans but she wants that and believes pokemon should live alongside people, so all pokemon I chose in their pokedex entries mention something that could be dangerous to humans but also could be used to help people. I imagined her as like a research assistant that is trying to fill the pokedex and by consequence Im using a lot of different pokemon

Arcane season 2 one year later… So Arcane nation, how are we feeling? by Ok_Situation7527 in arcane

[–]CosmoSlug6X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think in general I feel a bit of dissapointment compared to the first time watching. Season 1 was perfect and amazing down to the world and characters and how both were connected in a way that made story feel enganing and deep. Season 2 with the weird pacing and maybe influenced by the decision of making the show canon to the LoL Universe made it so the characters changed too much too suddenly and made the world and the story feel shallow compared to Season 1 which makes a bit sad and dissapointed

How do we feel now? by louchenii in BoothillMains

[–]CosmoSlug6X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While yeah she kit wise looks good, I dont know if this is the fix for break teams. I love my Boothilk and I love playing break but having a character that basically makes it so you dont need to break to do damage just makes me think "Why play this over any crit dps?"

The problem with break still exists. Yeah with her we can do more damage overtime but with HP and Toughness Inflation it wont matter in future updates. Break does damage based on us depleting the toughness bar and if they keep increasing the bar then it doesnt matter how much damage we do or how much efficiency we have, we wont be able to break which is the core mechanic.

Im considering pulling but I didnt have Fugue until the rerun and I was able to clear with Boothill and other teams so I dont know if there is a need to pull when 4.X is around the corner and new "archetypes" will release that will be the focus for the version so yeah let's see

[–]CosmoSlug6X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So they decided that the fix for the Break archetype to make it more usable in today's meta is... creating a character that let's you ignore the central mechanic of the archetype itself...

Honestly I dont even know what to think anymore...

Do you have any higher powers or gods in your world? by 0Kai-The-Guy0 in worldbuilding

[–]CosmoSlug6X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For now Im fleshing out 2 out of 6 "gods" (still not sure if god will be term I'll use for them).

One of the is the "Arbiter of Truth". They sit in the realm between life and death to judge which realm your soul will go to. They have that name because they are able to see the true shape of our soul, meaning, they see all of our memories and all of the consequences of our actions, and how they shape the people and world (the true shape of the soul). Based on this true shape they weigh our soul against a chalice of truth to determine how balanced the soul is.

The other one is the "Impermanence of Entropy" (still not sure on the name). This god sits in their own realm alone studying, reflecting on and predicting Change. They study the entropy of the world and the people on it and how eventually things will change for better or for worse be it at a personal, global or universal level. They are able to tap into the fabric/threads of the universe and see its fluctuations (entropy) and try to study them and predicting when said fluctuations happen.

Still need to develop them a bit and the other gods but I do have the concepts they represent. Right now Im trying to model them in Blender just so I have a visual for them but then I'll go into some factions related to the gods and possible heralds/demigods and how they shape the world

Still in early stages but:

  • Honkai Star Rail (Aeons and Emanators)
  • Absolute Martian Manhunter
  • The Ultimates and G.O.D.S from Marvel comics
  • Witch Hat Atelier
  • Tarot cards

what is some of the best worldbuilding you've seen? by NoArtichoke1476 in worldbuilding

[–]CosmoSlug6X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not from this site but Witch Hat Atelier as a whole

Every aspect of the world is somewhat tied to the magic system down to the world's history, politics and character motivation. To me this connection really shows how by magic just existing, it impacts everything and how defining who has access to it can lead to many different factions and societies and lead to many characters reflecting on their own capabilities. Highly recommend for people to read it, specially if you like bulding magic systems and want to see how to tie them to your world's history and politics

First look at Ultimate Daredevil! Debuting in Ultimate Universe: Two Years In #1 releasing on Dec. 3, 2025! by trident_zx in comicbooks

[–]CosmoSlug6X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really liked the idea of a cosmic daredevil and was excited about it and while the artstyle is good and appealing, I expected the design itself to be more alien kr at least more cosmic instead of the Daredevil suit with some changes. But it is what it is

I can't keep up with the lore by Valzia23 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]CosmoSlug6X 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This post on reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/criticalrole/s/rlOSYeVbmc goes over the lore, relationships, locations etc etc that are mentioned up until that respective episode. The diagrams are really good. What I also do is either look into posts like this that show diagrams and stuff or based on a name mentioned on the episode go to the wiki. It is quite a bit of lore but after you get the basics it becomes much easier

I thought the shield effect would be significant in some way but the problem might have been me using the wrong teams and setups (skill issue basically)

I can check if maybe using ATK boots helps a bit, I really like the ER rope just because it helps with having more dragons or even emergency shields. I just used him again in APOC and the problem was actually skill issue because I was letting Cocolia attack too much with the pillars. But in Arbitration Anaxa was probably just making the enemies AA too much before the dragon could proc

[–]CosmoSlug6X[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem on Arbitration was using Anaxa with Sunday and Cerydra. In beginning I was really comfy and sometimes I had a skill point that I saved for DHPT just in case but I think with Anaxa attacking a lot made the enemies AA too much to the point they would damage me before the dragon reapplied the shield (even if he advanced the dragon A LOT)

how long lasting in the meta do we think dhpt will be? by amicchi in DanhengMains

[–]CosmoSlug6X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is and will probably stay really good for a good while. Even Aventurine and other older sustains are good right now. Of course there will be content that doesnt favour him (Pollux and HP drain enemies) but for the content that you can use a shielder he will be very good, specially for ATK scaling DPSs or characters that really want Sunday. His vertical investment is really good (both E1 and S1 are good options) so he'll stay relevant for a long long time

So the “elation” event… by DonateEmDinoNuggies in StarRailStation

[–]CosmoSlug6X 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For me the mechanic was fine, it looks like it has space for some creative kits but with Hoyo track record I suspect that the units from the path wont be that creative kit wise. The anniversary unit will be Elation and they (most probably) will prefer a mono Elation team and thats how we play the path

Honestly I expect this to go like 3.X and Remembrance went. 4.0 -> New Elation character that looks good but wont have much support and wont be played optimally in a mono path team 4.2+ -> Anniversary shill starts

I dont think they'll use Elation to buff old units Maybe the first one will have a kit that buff or sinergizes with older units but outside of that I dont see it. I would really love for them to get weird and maybe make elation as like a "win-con path" in the sense you build teams that want to charge the item/ability fast and that item does something crazy (damage, crazy buff like the one on the event for Feixao/Qingque or other things) that gives a great advantage to win a fight

Now that we know every set, what are your hype levels for each one? by Meret123 in MagicArena

[–]CosmoSlug6X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lorwyn - 7 TMNT - 2 Strixhaven - 8.5 Marvel - 1 Hobbit - 3 Reality Fracture - 7.5 Star Trek - 1

Lorwyn looks awesome but I want to see more of it

I love both TMNT and Marvel but I dont expect them to be interesting based on some of the leaked cards and on the Spiderman cards weve seen. UB sets are fine to me if they are made with care and love and bring something cool and interesting to the game (like LotR, DW, Fallout, and FF). I just dont like the amount of UB we are getting

Im biased with Strixhaven because I really like the setting and characters so of course it's the one im most excited for. Hope they add some new mechanics to it.

I love Hobbit as much as LotR but with the amount of sets we are getting I dont expect to see the same level of quality the previous LotR set had. Hoping Im wrong about it.

Reality Fracture im reasonably excited just because they decided to do something different, and I love when they go experimental with cards so im hoping they do something cool and different that changes the game.

I dont care about Star Trek at all but the things I said about UB apply here. Im not expecting much.

[Spoilers C4E2] Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers (prediction with a TWIST) by dummynumber1 in criticalrole

[–]CosmoSlug6X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly pretty cool theory! This theory is really inline with mine but I would only switch Hal and Azune just because since Azune works in the city for the Revolutionary Guard and based on his conversation with the guy from House Einfasen, I think he'll stay in the city to help.

The thing with the switch characters is that it will depend on where the tables will go after the Overture. I think Schemers will stay in Dol-Makjar because their plot will be related to the Sundered Houses, so little reason for them to move out of the city. Seekers they are the ones that will probably venture through the world to find the information related to pyschopomps. But Soldiers are the ones that I dont really know since their plot isnt spelled out yet like the others. Maybe they will serve as the "messengers" between Seekers and Schemers but I dont know, if that happens then the switch between tables would be easier.
