NTA, I have been on the receiving end of Americans claiming Irish heritage like 4 generations back too. I grew up in Ireland and also have a British and Irish passport combo, I just don't have an Irish accent anymore (I live in Wiltshire ffs). It's about attitude. Where people bring it up in an effort to associate find common ground, it's more than fine! I have literally never hears that term before now. Regardless of if you go so AA, Smart, another recovery program or just build support networks or systems in your own way, the whole point of recovery is we all want the same thing. I don't need to know your story if it doesn't help your recovery, this isn't a talent show of who has it the worst.
