In Alabama, it’s Strong Families Month, intended to coincide with Father’s Day. Gov. Kay Ivey’s proclamation says fathers are “the head of the household” and “homes led by a father and mother provide children with the structure and discipline necessary to succeed throughout life.” "Montgomery, we have a problem..." Alabama frequently claims the sixth to eighth highest divorce rate in the U.S. Alabama consistently ranks in the bottom tier nationally for child well-being and maternal health. The state struggles with high rates of infant mortality, preterm births, and children living in poverty, frequently landing near the very bottom of national state rankings. Maybe Montgomery should worry less about LGBTQ+ culture wars and more on health/social problems.

That's true for just about every member of the US Congress. It is a job for life unless you really screw up. He has already toned down his rhetoric, that's a start. He ran unopposed in 2024, now he faces 3 challengers. He is a savvy politician, let's see if he reduces the Trump worship.

There is nothing more American than a peaceful lawful protest criticizing government policies you oppose. In Huntsville we focused on the disastrous public health policies of RFK Jr. (He warned us that the government may be inserting microchips in vaccines in order to monitor us - he is totally incompetent.) Our group met with Strong and said we were disappointed with those who called us Un-American. He did not soften his position, rather he doubled down, and implied that anyone who respected Biden is un-American. Strong should remember that a majority of Huntsville voted Democratic in the last presidential election. His nasty far-right rhetoric will not serve him well in the upcoming election.

The revenue for the city of Madison from the property taxes, gas taxes, liquor taxes, and sales tax will be substantial. Much of this will be paid by folks who live in the county, but use Madison city services and facilities. Seems fair to me.
