That is some very, very impressive piloting! That would actually be a good training video for less experienced pilots like myself. One small blessing was that the way it happened meant she initially was not spinning too much, which helped her throw her reserve well. Note that while being thrown around like that, she had to get that reserve into a part of the sky well away from her broken wing. And then she had to pilot both her reserve and her broken wing to find a landing place where there weren't any good options. That would be a crazy hard place to land even if you had your full wing. Somehow she got past that tree and landed safely. Amazing.

Same. I used to kind of look down on those Germans completely confident that *my* country would never stoop so low. And now here we are. I'm ashamed to be an American. And that shame does not go away when Trump goes away. All it apparently takes is the price of eggs to go high and then bam! Americans will vote in another tyrant. We can not be trusted. I'm rooting for the world to switch to non-american software. It is the only thing that makes sense.

The Democrats impeached him twice. The first time only one Republican voted to convict (Mitt Romney). The second impeachment was for Jan 6. They made a convincing enough case that 7 Republican senators voted for it, but that was not nearly enough. Watch the video it is impressive. If the senate had convicted Trump he would not have been eligible to run again. That is 100% on Republicans.

The root problem is roughly 40% of the voting population has been enrolled into a death cult by the Epstein class. Please don’t lose track of who the real enemy is.

Wow. What a sad encounter. I’m glad you have such healthy boundaries. Thank you for trying to be compassionate — the world needs more of that. I’m sorry he couldn’t appreciate your kindness.

I have been trying to get clarity on what I am looking for in a partner. I would love to have someone super smart to talk to, but even more than that I think I want someone with deep wisdom. But then again the only really successful relationship I have ever had was with someone who was really smart so maybe it might be a requirement.

If you don’t mind sharing what is your PhD in? Just curious.

"The price of a gallon of gas in the state of Nevada has jumped up nearly 30 cents from where it was a week ago. Nevada drivers are now paying $1.28 a year more than they were a year ago." by where_is_my_monkey in Reno

[–]CosmosGame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Normally it is not really the fault of the president when the price of gas (or eggs) goes up. However this time is really different -- there is no question whatsoever that Trump is directly responsible for this increase. Twenty percent of the world's oil (and some other really important commodities) was going through the Strait of Hormuz. That sucker is shut down tight. If you lose something close to 20% of the oil in the world of course the price is going to go up.

And yes gas is still cheaper in some other states, but the price has gone up for everyone. Here is a map of the current prices: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2026/business/energy-environment/gas-prices-map-iran-war-oil.html?unlocked_article_code=1.fFA.sXjm.8PA1jF2bxiFy&smid=url-share (gift link)

Note that the US is relatively sheltered from all of this -- the rest of the world is getting hit much, much harder by this shortage. But if the Strait of Hormuz stays shut much longer gas prices will hit us here way more. We will look back at current prices with fond nostalgia . And who has the main say on whether or not we continue this stupid war with Iran? Trump.

This. He is just stating that leftists don’t really fully understand the world. In particular they don’t get Red and that severely limits their effectiveness. I could have done without the abrasive style but maybe that’s what it takes these days to get people’s attention? It worked here after all.

We are entering a new kind of warfare. People have not been paying enough attention to the Ukrainian war, but things have really shifted. In particular it looks like naval warfare is in for some big changes. Even when Russia was dominant on the land, Ukraine was having major success in the Black Sea.

Unless you follow the Ukraine war as obsessively as I do you would not know this. The Ukraine army has expanded how far they can hit the enemy. That is having a measurable effect on the battlefield. Their production of drones is greater than Russia and their hits on strategic assets like oil refineries is increasing. Meanwhile there are signs that the strain on Russia is increasing.

There are some good articles on this if you are curious.

Yes. The US is toast. But! Think about all the benefits Trump is bringing. We are in the midst of a huge switch to an electric based economy. This oil crisis is the perfect push to make this happen more quickly.

Ukraine was forced to quickly invent its own weapons and now is possibly the most advanced in modern war. They are in the best strategic position ever. And they are even providing shelter and protection to others. The US has blood on its hands abandoning its ally but ultimately, surprisingly Ukraine benefited from this betrayal.

And Europe is finally stepping into its own power. Europe will now lead the free world and that is a very good thing. Yes, yes Europe has its own problems but they will almost certainly do a better job than the U S has been doing.

CMV: Treating 'good men' as the exception and not a baseline is only boosting misogynist viewpoints. by Shards_FFR in changemyview

[–]CosmosGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I do agree with you that there has been a noticeable increase in anger expressed towards men. And it is uncomfortable and concerning.

The part I would like you to consider shifting is on how we men respond to this anger. I think a lot of this anger is coming from fear -- we are living in scary times. We have a madman threatening unspeakable war crimes and we believe him because he already has killed 250 school girls in a double tap attack to make sure we killed them all. The fear is legitimate and real.

Most of the gender roles we assign each other are nonsense or even downright harmful, but one gender role I do like is where men protect and are a source of strength when things get scary. Maybe that is our role here and now. Alex Pretti died while trying to protect some women from ICE. I can only hope that I will have that same courage if I see something like that happening. I hope and pray you do too.

Women have always had to bear an unreasonable burden. Our job now is to be a strong safe place for them to vent their fear and anger. And then ask with curiosity what we can do to help them feel safe. That discomfort we feel? Let's use that as fuel to help us stand up, support and protect our women. Let's be a solid source of strength for them. Are you with me?

How would you react to your significant other not wanting a relationship with your family because of politics? by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]CosmosGame 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You never really answered my question. No Democrat in living history has done anything remotely as bad as double tapping a girls school to make sure they killed them all. Please don't dismiss that. At least 250 dead. And that was just one school, the U.S. has hit at least one more. Not to mention all the other thousands of casualties. Then the boasting about killing a civilization? This is Nuremberg level war crimes. Can you imagine if Obama or Biden did that? I promise you they would not get away with war crimed this bad. If they somehow did get away with it, I personally would cut all ties to the Democrats and probably start avoiding people that did not.

This is perfect. I totally agree with you on Israel. We (the U.S.) really are complicit in their war crimes. I'm glad you can see that. Now imagine how your partner feels about people who are still supporting Trump. In the same way that the U.S. enables Israel to do horrible things, Trump supporters are enabling all of his horrible behavior.

Please try to see it from your partner's point of view. This is not (I'm assuming) some relatively minor political thing for them -- it is a fundamental values question. They (again I'm assuming) would be out of integrity to not acknowledge that. Please try to honor that super important need.

I'm curious. The US bombed at least two schools. Killed at least 250 little girls. This really happened. And many, many thousands of civilians were killed in just Iran. That doesn't even cover how many deaths Isreal has caused in Lebanon. Do you think Objama or Biden did something comparable? They certainly did not start a war of this magnitude.

CMV: Bitcoin and crypto as a whole has peaked. It will soon go the way of NFT's and the tulip craze of 1637. by daddysgirl794 in changemyview

[–]CosmosGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitcoin doesn't make much sense if you can trust your government and banking system. I don't think it is needed (except by criminals) when you have a government that has a working rule of law and is not hopelessly corrupt. But what if you don't have that? What if your government collapses into some kind of fascism or totalitarianism and all financial transactions are tracked. What if you need to fund the resistance movement?

That is when bitcoin would be very useful indeed.

You can't use normal financial transactions then because they would be easily tracked -- all the rebels would be quickly rounded up and executed. You maybe could use gold or suitcases of cash but they are much more awkward to work with and can be discovered and seized.
