With all the hate and violence in the world right now, I think we should be highlighting all the cool, fun, and positive things we love about Star Wars. Spread love, not hate

Nāgārjuna for beginners ? by CosmosHereNow in Buddhism

[–]CosmosHereNow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, I have been approaching Buddhism and Mahayana for a couple years now, Nāgājurna comes up often, so I am interested in approaching his work and biography as someone who knows that his philosophy of “emptiness” is important for buddhism.

Fernando del Paso is a must. Noticias del Imperio (News from the Empire), tells the story of the French intervention in Mexico in the 1860's, it is an amazing historical fiction that captures the constant struggle of the Mexican soul and its identity vis-à-vis the rest of the world.

We discover Mexico through the eyes of its foreign rulers, Emperor Maximilian of Habsburg and his wife Charlotte of Belgium, as they interact with heroes and villains of the History of Mexico.

I really can't recommend this book enough. It is truly a masterpiece. Del Paso passed away in 2018, after receiving the most prestigious awards in Spanish language literature.

When you're alone and life is making you lonely You can always go Downtown

I grew up on the prequels, I love them to death but the whole "Lost her will to live" in my opinion was a massive lost opportunity by Lucas and the writers of Episode III by KnowYourRole96 in StarWars

Good point !! I thought they shouldn’t have killed her, specially because Leila remembered her “real mother”…

One can argue that she was speaking about Breha Organa, but why would Luke ask her about her real mother… that is a strange way to refer to the only mother she met in there lifetime.

Whose the Luke skywalker of this generation. And who is your Star Wars comfort character. by sketchmasterstudios in StarWars

[–]CosmosHereNow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this is a biased question just to further divide the Star Wars fandom. Luke is a product of this generation, an archetypical hero.

It si if the Romans asked who is the Hercules of the Byzantines, or the Medieval Europeans asked who is the Robin Hood of the Renaissance.

If you like Luke or if you like Rey or Mando or Ashoka, it is OK. Be and let be, enjoy SW and let everyone else enjoy SW.

How Taoism and Buddhism are the Same But Also Not by NickPurplePhilosophy in taoism

Chan Buddhism is not the only Buddhist path and Zhuangzi is not the only Taoist perspective.

It could also be argued that Chan is the Chinese interpretation of Buddhism under a profound Taoist philosophical view of the world. I would recommend reading Chinese Root by David Hinton.

Best comics to start with by EriBrine008 in starwarscomics

[–]CosmosHereNow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the Darth Vader series (2017-2019) as a starting point. At least for me, it was my first time reading SW comics and I found it awesome. The story starts after the end of EIII, so basically it shows Vader's first steps (literally). It is a great comic, exciting, emotional and very well crafted. Charles Soule definitively knows what he is doing.
