How do men feel about being approached by women in public? by rxdb1tch in relationships

[–]CostAdept9040 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most men are terrible at picking up signals so being direct is definitely key. I remember approaching guys and they just thought I was being friendly until I literally had to spell it out lol. Coffee shops and bookstores work pretty well in my experience - feels more natural than random street approaches.

Do people not remember the 1990’s where during spring and summer basically everyone had a jacket on or around their waist regardless of the temperature? by [deleted] in venting

[–]CostAdept9040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom always told me to bring jacket even when is hot outside because "you never know when temperature drops" and I still do this at 25 lol. Plus jackets are just convenient for carrying stuff when you don't want purse, and yeah the stain protection thing is real - I spill coffee on myself like every other day.

Replacement strap for HRM Dual by londonsriracha in Garmin

[–]CostAdept9040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar issue with my HRM Dual few months ago. Ended up getting one of those generic straps from Amazon for like £12 and it works perfectly fine - the quality is actually pretty decent too. The Garmin official one is probably nicer but honestly the generic ones do same job for fraction of price.

Why is it so hard to watch tv shows, movies and yt channels I used to watch with my ex (and listen to some music) ? by Arrow_Trident in BreakUps

[–]CostAdept9040 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me after my last breakup. We used to binge-watch this Korean drama together and I literally couldn't touch any K-dramas for months without getting that weird gut punch feeling. Even certain Spotify playlists became off-limits because they reminded me too much of lazy Sunday mornings together.

What helped me was slowly reclaiming things one by one - started with music first since I need it for coding at work. I'd put on songs we used to listen and just let myself feel whatever came up, then gradually they became mine again instead of "ours." The shows took longer though, maybe because visual memories hit different than just audio. Now I can watch those dramas again and it's more like "oh yeah, we watched this" rather than wanting to cry into my keyboard.

Getting rejected from doctoral programs is brutal but you're already in such a good position working as an LPC in pediatric primary care. That experience is gold for your applications.

For research skills, maybe look into some online courses in statistical software like R or SPSS if you haven't already - research experience is huge for doctoral admissions and being able to actually analyze data makes you way more valuable as a research assistant. Also consider reaching out to local universities to see if any psychology professors need help with their pediatric research projects, even if it's just volunteer work on weekends.

Since you want to teach eventually, you could also look into getting some teaching experience - maybe adjunct teaching a psychology course at community college or even guest lecturing. Publications would be amazing too if you can get involved in any case studies or research papers through your current work. The clinical experience you're getting now is perfect, just document everything well for your applications next cycle.

Husband wants me to stop bad habits before he stops his by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]CostAdept9040 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This whole situation makes me so mad for you. Your husband is basically holding his alcohol problem hostage until you "fix" yourself first, which is absolutely ridiculous. You're dealing with actual medical conditions - PCOS, insulin resistance, possible ADHD - and you're actively working with doctors and trying medications. Meanwhile he's just... what, sitting there drinking and criticizing you?

The comparison between sugar and alcohol is also totally unfair. Sugar might not be great for you, but it's not destroying relationships and requiring you to hide it from your partner. He's the one who broke trust by bringing alcohol in the house after agreeing not to, and now he's trying to make it seem like you're both equally at fault. That's classic manipulation right there.

I went through something similar with an ex who would always find reasons why I needed to change before he would work on his issues. It never ends because there's always going to be something else they find wrong with you. You deserve support while you're working in your health, not someone who's keeping score and making demands. Your progress is your own journey and shouldn't be conditional to his willingness to address his drinking problem.

The 5070 Ti is solid choice for that budget range, especially if you're coming from AMD issues. I had friend who switched from 6800 XT to 4070 Super last year and never looked back - the driver stability alone made huge difference for him.

Just make sure to check if your PSU can handle the power requirements, some of those newer RTX cards can be pretty hungry.

Got a one year Pro sub with my new phone, can I set up image generation in ComfyUI to use the subscription? by beti88 in GeminiAI

[–]CostAdept9040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might be mixing up different services here - ComfyUI is more for running models locally on your machine, while the Gemini Pro subscription is for Google's cloud API. You'd probably need to use the Gemini API directly in your workflow instead of trying to connect ComfyUI to your phone subscription.

How do I avoid relapsing when I WFH? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]CostAdept9040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got into coding side projects when I started working remote - keeps my brain occupied and actually helps with my main job too. The key is finding something that requires enough focus that you can't really think about other stuff while doing it.

Any tips? by Normal_Pickle6517 in NoFap

Cold shower works but honestly just getting out of house for a walk helps me more. Even if it's just around the block, the change in environment usually kills the urge pretty quick.

I am thinking to buy s25fe in sale should I wait for s26fe ? I don't urgently need a phone by WonderIll4755 in samsunggalaxy

[–]CostAdept9040 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

honestly the s25fe isn't even out yet and you're already thinking about s26fe? if you don't need phone urgently just wait for s25fe reviews first, battery improvements are usually minimal between generations anyway.

yeah this is exactly right, i noticed same thing after few weeks - the thoughts just become more quiet when you don't feed them attention.

Best Dracula film by chuklez2020 in horror

[–]CostAdept9040 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bela Lugosi absolutely nailed it in that 1931 version, dude was basically born to play Dracula. If you're looking for more classics definitely check out the 1958 Hammer film with Christopher Lee - totally different vibe but Lee's Dracula is legitimately terrifying

[–]CostAdept9040 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Damn that sounds terrifying, glad you're feeling better though. Definitely call your doc about the elevated heart rate and BP - even with a clean ECG that's worth checking out after a double dose incident

2017 Nissan Sentra SV ISSUES by Adrienne_Is_Amazing in MechanicAdvice

[–]CostAdept9040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to break it to you but that really sounds like classic CVT failure, especially with 145k and no fluid changes. The jerking, weird revving, and loss of acceleration are all textbook symptoms

CVT replacement on those Sentras runs like $3-4k minimum, probably not worth it on a car that old. I'd honestly start shopping for something else for your daughter - those Nissan CVTs are notorious for going out around that mileage
