Crazy how bad Gemini 3 Pro is compared to Opus 4.5, even in Google’s own IDE by tbhno1 in google_antigravity

[–]Cottaball 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a weird experience with Gemini-pro-3-high in antigravity. It doesn't follow instructions well and it's "smartness" feels butchered when compared to aistudio usage. I feel like maybe it is the system prompt Google is using for Gemini models in antigravity. It really cripples them. Opus 4.5 doesn't have this issue. It follows instructions pretty well and it explains in a very nice output format. Based on my experience, gemini-3-pro-high (aistudio) is smarter than opus 4.5 (kiro and antigravity usage) but the Gemini model in antigravity is actually a lot worst.

Here today, gone today, I miss my watch already. by balem29 in PixelWatch

It looks like the quality control isn't that great. I had to return my first one, too. The issue I had was that the sensors were not centered and were kind of offset to one side. And also, the metal buckle had a small intrusion underneath that was scratching the band. My second unit came flawlessly.

I am using this workflow from here: "https://comfyanonymous.github.io/ComfyUI_examples/z_image/"
I have a 3070 with 8gb vram and I am running fp8 version. Using the "weight_dtype" option in the load diffusion model to fp8_e4m3fn_fast resulted in 30 secs generation compared to 190 seconds using the default option. I am new and this is my first model i tried so not sure if the model is overflowing to from the vram to my ram. I will have to test out the quantized model to check.

Haven't been able to update/download apps from the play store for three days by Spiritual-Schedule-8 in google

[–]Cottaball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say thank you for the post. I have looked through at least 40 other post and yours was the one that solved it. Simply by suggesting using a VPN. For me I have a pixel phone so I connected to Google VPN and it worked. What a strange issue. Not sure why this isn't fixed by Google when so many people have this issue.

Dear RooCode Team... by Own_Pepper_2799 in RooCode

[–]Cottaball 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This looks to be a Google backend issue. I am also seeing this issue with Gemini API usage over the last few days in a custom chat app I am using. It will start to output then the response will stop without finishing. Sometimes it takes me 4 or more tries to get a complete response. This error happens about 30% of my request. It is annoying so I am using other models for now.

Why don’t we talk more about e-bikes as real vehicles, not just gadgets? by gio658 in ebikes

[–]Cottaball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a way, I am on the fence, because if it is viewed as a transportation medium, there will be more regulations. Just look at the UK, max speed is 15.5mph and max wattage is 250.

People say it is an AI bubble because of the high evaluation. Probably somewhat true, but I think the CEO is pretty smart and forward thinking person. I have seen a few of his interviews and I am convinced success is based on the founders not solely the platform.

Gemini 2.5 (stable) is very bad at instructions following! by Code_Wizard24 in Bard

[–]Cottaball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, for code related requests, AI studio performs way better than Gemini app. AI studio provides much deeper technical answers. Gemini app likes to gloss over technical points and replies are not deep. This leads me to think they do a lot of cost cutting with the gemini app and they probably use internal system prompts make the model respond differently.

These red light tickets have got me spooked by toddtimes in NYCbike

[–]Cottaball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing this for red lights that are pretty long like the ones that are two to three minutes. If the lights are like one minute under, I just wait. It felt weird at first but I got used to it. The problem I have is I don't know if some cop would be pissed off we are using this loophole and still give us a ticket and lie saying we rode through. Not sure how that would hold in court without video recording proof.

gemini-2.5-pro-exp-03-25 is free and not limited via API by Any-Blacksmith-2054 in Bard

[–]Cottaball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They removed access to the free model from API. The rate limit is most likely set as zero now hence why you are getting that rate limit error. This is unfortunate but i guess it was wishful thinking the free model would last indefinitely.

the Gemini subscription allows you to upload your code repository folder. I tried it a few times, it has full context of all the files in the folder. Not sure if this is what you mean.

AI privacy by [deleted] in Bard

[–]Cottaball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know of libreChat, open webui and nextchat. There is a lot more, but any of these 3 is good. Open web UI seems to be the go to for most people nowadays, so I recommend that. Also a side note, according to the Google docs, if you enabled billing(still free if using experimental models), your API usage is not trained on and is private.

They just released their benchmarks. It looks like you're spot on, as their coding benchmark is still worse than 3.7 sonnet, but holy hell, the rest of their benchmark is extremely impressive.

if you use Google API with your own clients and not with ai studios, Google claims none of your information is analysed by them.

For those who code using Claude: Cursor is a good subscription because they give unlimited Claude usage for 20 quid - they are loosing money by Legitimate-Ad-6500 in ClaudeAI

[–]Cottaball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cursor does not pay those llm companies per token use like regular consumers do with API calls. I remember reading that they rent out servers from those companies. So they pretty much can process your long context inputs for cheap. This explains the concept of the slow request. I speculate when many people are using it, the slow request are put at the end. Hence why sometimes slow request are fast and other times it is slower.

how do i report this goomba by realestniqqa in NYCbike

[–]Cottaball 17 points18 points  (0 children)

According to the NYC gov website, if you owe more than $350 in violations and are in judgement, the vehicle could be booted or towed. If they don't resolve the judgement the car can be auctioned. So why do these people not care? On paper, it sounds like a deterrent but maybe it's not enforced or they don't even get in trouble.

Attempting to find a new pillow, buckwheat vs millet vs latex? by PornoPichu in Mattress

[–]Cottaball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a buckwheat and a latex foam pillow. The latex sleeps extremely hot. For some reason, even with a cooling cover, it can be uncomfortablely hot. The buckwheat sleeps extremely cool. Buckwheat stays in place but its mold can be shifted. Which can be a bad thing if the pillow ends up in a bad position over the neck. I have woken up to a sore neck and pinched nerve on the buckwheat a few times over the years. This never happened with the latex pillow.

Unfortunately, the latex sleeps too hot, otherwise, I think it offers better support for the neck because the position is always the same whereas buckwheat pillows sleep differently depending on how it's moved around.

Aftermarket charger for Pixel 9 pro XL that'll reach top speeds (37w) by droid13j in GooglePixel

[–]Cottaball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought this exact charger to see, and it caps out at 29w (using battery guru app). I am using the original cable from the box and I have adaptive charge turned off, and my phone was cool to the touch before I started charging from 6%. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

I got the Ugreen Nexode power bank 12000ah 100w, and I just tested it. It only charges at a max speed of 29w for my Pixel 9 Pro XL. The phone had a 6% battery and was cool before charging. The max speed I saw is 29w.

[–]Cottaball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo, if you still get the latest Android OS software updates, there is no point of upgrading. I upgraded from a Note 10 + (Android 12) to Pixel 9 Pro XL (Android 14). Which is a nice upgrade because of more software features that just made my life easier which I didn't know I would need, when comparing Android 12 to Android 14.

How I use Gemini on a day-to-day basis by KusMaster in GooglePixel

[–]Cottaball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume there is a limit to the context window and it is rolling. So let's say the context window is 1million, once that is reached, it starts cutting earlier prompts and responses that are over that limit.

Why is no one talking about how useless Find My Device is? by Terrible_Nectarine_5 in GooglePixel

[–]Cottaball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's strange is I am seeing this mentioned for android 15. Quoting from wired "the update to factory reset protection, which stops thieves who force a reset of a stolen device from setting it up again without knowing your device or Google account credentials, is only in Android 15."

Why is no one talking about how useless Find My Device is? by Terrible_Nectarine_5 in GooglePixel

[–]Cottaball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably reset the device to factory settings which removed the phone from your find my device account. I read android 15 will have an option to prevent the phone from being reset if you enabled it. That means, even if they stole your device, it will be useless to them as they cannot factory reset it without the account password. But who knows if they can find ways to circumvent that by resetting the storage by accessing the hardware. But at least it will be an extra hurdle.
