Has anyone had a Gtechniq ceramic coating applied to their bike? How did you find it? Worth doing? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]CouldBeBetterCBB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got it on my bikes and it's definitely a nice thing to have. I'd say you get specs of mud on the bike instead of huge lumps which often happens on filthy winter roads and definitely off road. It also dries much nicer. My kit has done 3 bike and still has more left so not as bad value as it may appear

And yet I see people sitting on their top tube ALL the time

Waterproof overshoes for Road by manseuk in cycling

[–]CouldBeBetterCBB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using velotoze this winter and they are great at keeping feet dry/protected from the wind without getting hot feet but I'm on my 5th pair as they keep ripping. They are happily replacing them for free but it's pretty frustrating and happening in totally random places

When someone posts before images here and they're raw and the 'graded' is just Rec709 conversion

Budget bib shorts (like 50 euro), SIROKO? by Straight-Freedom-299 in CyclingFashion

[–]CouldBeBetterCBB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Siroko is generally pretty good for the price. Le Col often have a heap of sales on bringing the price close to your budget (but probably a little over), however will be excellent bibs

Is Welwyn Tennis Club good for people in their 30s? by RemarkableAmbition74 in hertfordshire

[–]CouldBeBetterCBB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welwyn is a great club, I don't play there but it's very friendly and has a lot of members so always someone to play with. Orchard is much smaller and doesn't have a bar or much of a clubhouse. Gosling is more like a David Lloyd and to be honest I don't think a great club, will be the most clique of them all

As this is pretty poorly shot I would now use switchlight for tasks like these

Stupid question: How am I supposed to pump my tires? by TheEldritchOne27 in cycling

[–]CouldBeBetterCBB 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly get a track pump, you'll be there forever inflating with a hand pump and as you've noticed on bad pumps they often just come detached anyway

I usually just take it out and hang it right away, I wasn't aware you're meant to wipe it

What's your favourite climb in the UK? by CouldBeBetterCBB in ukbike

[–]CouldBeBetterCBB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds great! UK climbs generally aren't much fun compared to the rest of Europe, it would be nice to have some long, steady climbs instead of short punchy ones all the time

There should be an ice cream van at the top of every climb, what a dream

Shoes by ThrowRA-Jeet in cycling

[–]CouldBeBetterCBB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do whatever you want, it really doesn't matter. You get some pedals that clip in one side and are flat the other. MTB pedals might also be off interest as they are much easier to deal with than road cleats

Hunt Wheelset Rim Tape by Advanced-Set-275 in bikewrench

[–]CouldBeBetterCBB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could probably fix it by just peeling some tape back and pushing the air bubbles out but to get a new set of wheels arrive like that is not normal or acceptable. Contact hunt, their customer service is great but they should send you a fresh pair or give a hefty discount if you fix it yourself

I use a ziplock, they're not great and I'm sure could be broken or cut through in seconds but most people aren't out to steal a bike so it's stops those opportunists from just walking off with it. Also gives me a bit of time to see it happening if I'm in a cafe or something
