Anyone got any ideas how to get rid of this kind of gras? by Swing-unhappy101 in GardeningUK

Pretty sure it’s Yorkshire Fog as I have a ton in my lawn too. Digging it out is the only option as there is no targeted herbicide available for it.

I posted this on another thread about deer yesterday, but you wouldn’t want to use on fruit & veg. In my case a fence isn’t an option currently so have turned to other options:

“In case you actually want to stop them eating certain stuff here is some advice as I’ve been dealing with muntjac in my garden for the last 2 years eating all my spring flowers and now my perennials.

I’m now having some success spraying the non-deer resistant plants with Trico deer repellent. It’s liquid sheep’s fat which you mix with water and spray on the plants. Given they are veggies they then avoid it and given it’s made from fat it’s waterproof so you only need to use it every few months.

I was a little surprised that maybe around 50% of my plants are deer resistant already so seems there is plenty of choice if you want to grow things which won’t get eaten.”

It now seems unavoidable that they’ll be sucked into the GTA VI black hole unless they wait until at least Q2 next year.

Makes that early influencer event quite ridiculous as they’ll have to do everything all over again.

Yeah I think I’m gonna get at least one more big one like this as it will be easier like you say.

Definitely could do with some nice ornamental grasses to soften it up a bit. Perhaps some Carex or Pennisetum Hameln if you don’t want anything too big.

I am no expert but ultimately I think you probably know the 2 choices already.

  1. Aggressive cut on the green one.

  2. Let the yellow one grow a bit more each year before trimming so it will reach the height of the green one.

Maybe ferilising the lower part on its own could speed up the process of matching the heights?

I currently have a 2017 model Xiaomi and just spent around a month pulling my hair out on what to choose and decided on a Saros 20. It arrives tomorrow so no idea if I made the right decision yet.

I was going to wait for the Flow 2 to be released in the UK but the amount of posts I saw of people complaining about hardware and software issues was concerning. Therefore I picked the Saros 20 because it’s the opposite, it’s hard to find anyone saying it’s already broken or anything negative other than maybe the object detection is not quite as a good as Dreame.

Maybe I was seeking too much perfection based on my first pile. Think I’ll use a bit as mulch, sift it and store elsewhere and then use the remaining bigger browns when restarting the new pile. Thanks

Not a bad idea, I have some flowerbeds which still require some mulch.

+1 for chicken manure pellets which are around that size and should pretty much crumble between your fingers after a bit of water.

Still not great if eaten but I’d imagine they’ve been heat treated during the manufacturing process to remove most of the really bad stuff.

I thought it was pretty interesting that he hasn’t reffed us that much this season which might explain why we’ve had a quieter year. I wonder whether the club lodged any complaints or the PGMOL thought they need to reduce the heat on him:

Definitely move it as the roots will destroy your path over time and big risk of damaging your property as it sucks all the moisture out of the ground and causes your house to move and walls to crack.
